It's almost as if they 'know the drill' and go to their appointed places. When the whopper lands upon thee, may the cleanliness of thy lands defeat it! For tying down things there are hurricane/tornado ties. They are long, like 4ft metal rods with wide screw threads on the last 2ft or so and a 3 inch round eyelet on the top and you can use ratchet straps to keep building tied down. And they are able to be unscrewed from the earth so you can move buildings if you want. We have them on our carport and have had 100mph winds that haven't shifted it in over 10 yrs.

Good job on the electrical work. Only one thing you might consider doing. Ground rods purpose is to protect the system from lightning. The ground rod at the solar shed is required to be tested and be less than 25 ohms. In Arizona, you are not going to be less than 25. So, the exception is, add a second ground rod just like you did for the array frames. Best Wishes, Kevin

Congratulations on achieving this milestone in your homestead establishment. Having power readily available will make life and the rest of the build so much easier. Will/is the solar shed now the most comfortable place, temperature wise, on your property to hang out? Great to see you adopted my suggestion of using detection tape. (Ok, you will not need it now, but as you build more and your plumbing and electrical lines get more complex you will be reassured that you do not accidentally dig up and damage an established line)

Should be once the mini-split is installed. Being able to run the ceiling fan and a box fan natively off the power is already making a huge difference, though.

I'm still about 3-4 weeks from getting current with your videos. I started with your first video, selling your original RV and I am now up to this one....it's taken me about a month of semi-binge watching to get here....You and your entire family are just extraordinary.... AS TO YOUR ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OF LAST VIDEO: a main lug panel, often referred to as simply a sub panel is not usually used as your main input from your electrical supply. You wanted a main-breaker panel. Given that you are going to be building a house, that's what you would normally want, but given your other panels, I would ask a licensed electrician to confirm what you should be using for the house and all the other out buildings. As to the not-connected "neutrals" - assuming I understood what you are describing - You were actually talking about the separation of the GROUNDS and NEUTRALS. In sub-panels grounds and neutrals NEED to be separated so you don't have circulating currents between panels....that would be potentially lethal. Given that you are treating this sub panel as your main, the two, neutral and ground, can and should be connected together. I hope this makes sense.....If I got this wrong, I apologize.
@TinyShinyHome2 жыл бұрын
Thanks :) No, the grounds and neutrals were always separated. But the main neutral in was not connected to any of the individual circuit neutrals. That's why it was so weird and the voltage wasn't correct. I had to manually jumper the main neutral to the circuit neutrals for it to work. Sort of like how you have to jumper boxes like these that come as 220 down to 120 if you have two legs. I know the terminology now, but for those two things to be separated still seems like a weird scenario to me. Oh well!
@Huskyresqr2 жыл бұрын
@@TinyShinyHome That is weird and unnerving. I am a retired Navy electrician and wired four houses with lots of subpanels and I can't recall ever seeing something like that.....good catch!
