Wow Thanks your series of Videos helped me sort out the wiring for a 2.8 HP Treadmill motor upgrade for my Grizzly Mini Mill I had upgraded my mill to a belt drive and even with decent ratios i still needed more torque The Treadmill motor was my answer. I found a free treadmill in perfect working order but had been putting off finishing up my conversion as i just didn't want to fry anything in the process your series of Videos had all the answers I needed so Thanks!.

Thanks for another informative video. I’ve been collecting treadmill motors and electronics for a couple of years now. It is my intention to actually do something useful with them this winter. Thanks again. RG in Kentucky.

Great explanation of the ac side vs the dc side working

Thank you. So you are connecting the blue wires in series with the AC input to the rectifier?
@dazecars3 ай бұрын
yes always on the AC side

Thanks again for another great video. Is there a direction of flow if the connectors have been removed from the blue wires?
@dazecars3 ай бұрын
Blue wires are not directional. Think of the blue wires as a single blue wire sitting on the table. Power can flow in one end and out the other or it also works in reverse. There is no directionality at all especially since it is on the AC side.

Have you ever powered a 24 volt DC mobility scooter motor with an variable AC unit from a treadmill or other source?
@dazecars3 ай бұрын
no I have not but the concepts would be the same, AC to DC with some sort of variable power supply. The important thing would be limiting the max output to 24 V so you don't fry the motor.

i am building a controle box for my mill. you should check them out. you may be impressed and yes. im learning more about the system. i, like most started out with the junk scr and small rectifier. so thank you for shoeing the better scr and bridge rectifier.. so now i need to re visit my band saw i converted about 6 years ago and change them parts out.

The cheap SCR works, I used my bandsaw with one for years but when I finally replaced the cheap SCR with the good one the results were outstanding and immediate.

Great videos, new subscriber, I got a free 4k treadmill non functional its a 110v ac 3 phase, 5hp,4250 rpm,and the motor is good ,it's a monster and I would like to put a variable control but there isn't any videos available ,any advice on what and how to connect a variable control to it?
@dazecars3 ай бұрын
You need to get a VFD for it. That is the only truly effective way to have variable speed on an AC motor. It is not cheep but is far superior a DC motor with variable DC power supply.
@rayg4363 ай бұрын
@@MrLeo92335 you may have to use 1 pwm into 2 supllys 1 for each phase im not sure if this would work. Anyone have an idea?
@dazecars3 ай бұрын
Three phase requires a VFD. You never want to use an AC to AC voltage controller on any AC motor.
