I know this video is a little messy and I thought about removing it. But I'm leaving it because it may help some people. I'm not in the buiness of car stereo install videos and this is not meant to replace your manual. I made this on a whim to help people because there was nothing else out there. This is not a complete stereo install video, I'm just hoping this saves you some of the frustrations I had during install by talking about how I hooked it up. If you know a better video for these please share a link.

What wire harness did you use? I'm trying to buy the maestro rr with the gm5 harness. My real question is. Do I need a separate aftermarket wiring harness to install the radio itself. And the maestro just ties in between the factory harness-aftermarket radio harness-maestro-gm5 harness-head unit?
@Seimstudios

The maestro kit came with all the wires I needed to plug in the OEM harness and then connect to the wires of the head. If you order the harness with it you should be fine. But I found Crutchfield very helpful when I called and confirmed everything I would need with them.

Hi, The reason you have the extra cables in the Maestro RR box is because there are some applications where you can hardwire the box up without a vehicle specific T-harness. Also, Crutchfield now offers a service where they will pre-connect the radio harness up to the T-harness before they ship it. The audio cord from the Maestro is for both OnStar volume and the XM radio audio when the factory tuner is retained.

THANK YOU! Great INFO! FYI, You can ADD Steering wheel Audio Controls SUPER EASY! Purchased Complete ebony leather wrapped OEM Steering wheel from Rock Auto for $155 bucks! I discovered it in 2014, Chevy, Express, 6.6 Diesel, 4500, interior, Steering Wheel. (I also have a 2014 Express) Purchased and totally works, includes literally everything but the airbag! Will be completing the same Axxess to Maestro swap. Also, again LOL. Using Kenwood/Garmin DNX997-XR. Thanks Again!

So I can get a wheel with audio controls and there are already factory plugs in the column? I thought it would be more involved. 2012 express, maestro RR, GMC 5+, pioneer, w4660nex

You might be able to get the climate controls on the radio, I would email data link and confirm compatibility with your vehicle.

Thanks for posting the video. Ultimately, what idatalink data did you get? I am towing with this van and have used an android tablet, but that is another device. I am looking at upgrading the head unit and am thinking a fancier one might be helpful.

Good info, i was wondering what the audio jack cable do, i've done the same install on my savana 2020 with the OEM bluetooth, if someone install an aftermarket radio an using the af bluetooth you need to disable the OEM bluetooth (erase the connexion from your cellphone) because OnStar pop a windows in the radio screen an it's annoying Thanks for the info i need a splitter for my audio jack now :D

Which wires did you hook up for the obd2 plug?
@Seimstudios

There one marked for that. I believe it was just a single wire or maybe 2 that you jumper into the OBD

I am hooking up this exact setup in my escade. Everything is exact.... including taking out the axxess harness too! But now my damn radio isn't turning on. Battery on truck went dead while all the doors were open, haha. Anyways, I Understood and thank you for puttinG this video on here. I had my maestro programmed in a dodge magnum with This same radio, now just switching it with gm5 connector for the maestro over to the escalade. looks like it needs to be flashed to hm before it'll power ob my head unit. From watching your video, I was able to conclude this. Again, thanks. My questions are answered.
