What you gotta understand that the dude never explained is that Proton back in the 90s were just rebadged Mitsubishis assembled in Malaysia. That's why the parts are pretty much interchangeable. And Peroduas are rebadged Daihatsus.

2:34 It’s technically a Malaysian Colt from proton. Same front end as the gray one. In germany proton introduced it as a proton 418 coupe. We have may only 20 lefthand drive versions and no better supply than Mitsubishi. Because Proton left Germany like overnight. Again I‘m happy to see cars like this standard, wracked or fully speced even in Sabah. This is on Borneo. Big love to Malaysian Car scenes

The way Sam's eyes lit up at the mention of a CA18 was hilarious and kinda adorable. Spurred a quick scan of the CA's Wikipedia page, too, aaaand..... _"Later versions featured DOHC with 16 valves for increased efficiency at high engine speeds and a smoother power delivery. _*_The hydraulic lifters are interchangeable between all DOHC RB and VG series engines_*_ excepting those with solid lifters."_ So it IS kind of a baby RB! I've been building an early S13 Silvia Q's in GT7, and that just made that little engine so much cooler.

Larry, Malaysians have been converting JDMs far more earlier than the US. We even helped to export used engines from Japan to US in the hey days. We have been transplanting engines for eons when the Americans were still into straight line drags. Talk to some older car fellas and they can explain the history.

can confirm, Malaysia has been playing with JDM before the term JDM even existed, we just call it "Recon cars"(we still do), it's a shame we can't import those aging albeit timeless iconic JDMs anymore due to regulations

Dude!!! satria in your channe!!! what the heck!!! I used to own three Satria cars, but unfortunately, all of them ended up damaged. The engines blew, and the gearboxes were finished. I had to sell them because I couldn’t keep up with the lifestyle, especially once I got married. Haha. The Satria is a popular street racing car in Malaysia, and it’s considered legendary. It's incredibly affordable because the engine bay can accommodate a wide range of engines, except for a V8, of course. It's like a Frankenstein car, with drag racers often doing some wild modifications. It consistently ranks in the top 5 in local drag races. Plus, its hatchback design makes it perfect for body kit mods, and weight reduction is easy to implement. One of the largest car clubs in Malaysia is made up of either Satria or Wira owners (the sedan variant). If you're an expat coming to Malaysia, the Satria is a good choice to start with, as spare parts are cheap and readily available in local halfcut warehouses. And yes, we have a lot of halfcut warehouses here.

@Mokj472 ай бұрын
The Proton Satria is rebadged/based from the Mitsubishi Colt, also the Proton Wira is based from the Evo3. Lot of Proton Cars share the “Blueprints” from other cars like the Proton Inspira from the Lancer. So makes the conversion to original much cheaper rather than straight up buy the original. Early proton days got straight up mitsubishi engines

Its crazy what they can do and also lucky to be close enough to.import cars from.japan and even fly out to inspect with easy. I cant rememver if it was thailand but they were swaping k series into german cars due to some regulation. Us north Americans, either bite the bullet or trust our jdm importer. Most get really screwed lol . Unless ur paying a $$$$$ for car no matter where in your u are, you should spend that 3 - 5 k extra to inspect it for your self.
