Mavs got straight up killed by Celtics 3p shooting. Don't get me wrong they are a great shooting team but this game they couldn't miss. I ve seen Porzingis in a Mavs uniform brick those threes countless times and tonight every shot was going in. Jrue made every contested three like prime Steph. Meanwhile the Mavs lost a bunch of open 3s early in the game and they were behind even though they didn't play worse than their opponents. Luka was in the zone, dishing dime after dime and feasting on the single coverage of the Celtics' as they didn't double him much. Kyrie had an off night with the fans probably getting a little bit in his head . In the 4th things became ugly and this became a blow out. The quality difference was obvious with guys like Green, THJ, Jones Jr, Exum failing to have an impact. About the defense i don't think it was as bad as it looks given the fact that they scored nearly every short for the perimeter, which makes it extremely difficult to deal with. The Mavs have a long way to go to become a playoff team. They need players to step up.

the Mavs problem was not that they missed a couple of shots, the problem was they kept on going while Tatum showed them how it's done. Attack the rim and if not kick out. The Mavs defense crumbled every single time. They traded for size just to let the size out when needed. Too many open shots went in uncontested and also when defense was there they still hit. Mavs didn't adjust the not hitting three while Boston had an answer on everything. It's also called coaching. Unfortunately.

Luka definitely not as big of an impact toward team success as the big three MVP candidates of the last few years. All of those guys you mentioned except Harden as considerably better defenders than Doncic.

Most point guards are like that today, cmon. Haliburton is the rare exception and not the common occurrence. At least Kyrie is pretty efficient compared to the rest of them. He was also a great sidekick to LeBron and paired well to LeBron's leadership and playmaking with clutch plays and shooting. LeBron was constantly falling short early in his career cause he lacked such sidekick like Irving bad until he joined Heat and then came back to Irving Cavs. Obviously LeBron was the guy but let's not act as if he didn't contribute to it. He is a bit overated yes but other guys are even more (Trae Young, Lillard, statpadding Wesbrook in his peak) still a great player though and an essential piece to the Cavs title.

my true point about kyrie is that he's not skilled enough in getting everybody around him involved. yeah, just like dame and just like westbrook and many others - he can playmake for himself or give a last moment assist to some big at the rim or maybe to the wing for a3p shot. but! his game is too narrow and too obvious to really make the opposite team's defense to shuffle. the best example for that kind of PG dynamics is the "system" J.Harden - there's just no way to win with this guy.
