The one player I wish stayed in college. He honestly had no reason to leave, other than proving himself... He was financially secured, still had areas to improve on, could have been one of the best prospects going into the draft if he stayed even 1 or 2 more years.

What's lacking in the pros is confidence. He doesn't have it anymore.
@NoName718.9 жыл бұрын
Hard to have it again when you realize you weren't that good to begin with. On top of that the guy never expanded his game. He has the same moveset now as his hs days. He still doesn't have a left hand, and hasn't gained an ounce of muscle. I'm not suprised.
@hcrtoothy9 жыл бұрын
Timothee25 The guy only got into the NBA BECAUSE of his dad. If his last name wasn't River's and he wasn't the son of Doc Rivers, he would be some Duke graduate who had played basketball for that school and done nothing with himself. The guy doesn't expand his game, he doesn't do anything but lounge off of his dad's success. Not only that but he's also getting lucky with his dad because he's on his dad's team now, he gets paid with his dad's boss' money. His dad just goes, just sing it son, you'll be fine you get lots of money buddy.
@eddieb56889 жыл бұрын
+hcrtoothy stop being a hater dude. did his dad do all the countless hardworking hours in the gym for him ? no Austin is there because he deserves to be in the nba otherwise he wouldnt be in the nba.
@hcrtoothy9 жыл бұрын
He was hyped because of it. If you compare him to the rest of his class, what makes you think he deserved to be picked so highly? Having your dad's last name who's a renown NBA player and coach who has won championships only gave Rivers more of the spotlight. Not only that but his dad probably convinced Duke to take him in. Even in Duke he wasn't doing all that great. Averaged 15 points which I do admit is pretty good, Averaged MORE TURNOVERS than assists, HORRENDOUS free throw percentage. In the NBA so far, for every 2 assists he has a turnover which is not a good ratio at all. His free throw percentage is STILL terrible. His 3 point shot dropped down even further to a subpar below .300. He can't play defense either with barely averaging a steal per game and i'm being generous there by saying he does BARELY get a steal. .6 steals a game to be precise which is horrendous for a guard who was so praised as a player going into the draft. STILL has no left hand to finish with. Has a broken jumpshot. No free throw upside to him. No defense. Uncontrolled when he's dribbling and driving to the rim. He's a broken player that should've gone late first or second round if anything. Do you have anything to even say besides, oh he deserves to be in the NBA. Maybe he does, maybe not but the guy would barely survive in the d-league i'd bet. I have hard stats to back me up, you've done nothing to prove me wrong. I can send you articles upon articles, videos and videos of him being uncontrollable going to the hoop. But if you don't even back your own statements up with facts, then i'm not even gonna bother trying to back myself more with the evidence. G'day.
@TheMesoPeaks9 жыл бұрын

He's struggling in the NBA because he's just a decent athlete by NBA standards and he hasn't done much to outweigh that. He can't finish over help defense, he doesn't recognize rotations, he doesn't have a floater to go to when an easy layup isn't there, he doesn't have anything resembling a reliable pull up jumper, he plays hinself out of position on D by overgambling, etc, etc. In short, he's still the same player, and that's a problem.

His crossover is his main move. It's quick but it is very stationary. It's quick enough to get high school players but it won't get NBA players and since his game is built on him being a scorer by slashing to the basket he's gonna struggle when his crossover isn't as effective.

@@StephenFire I love Austin Rivers, but: 1 James Harden 2 Chris Paul 3 Eric Gordon 4 Clint Capela 5 MAYBE MAYBE Austin Rivers - TJ Tucker is a beast on defence. - Nene, Gerald Green, House, Shumpert etc, all pretty good role players! It's a shame, because Austin Rivers should handle the ball more and score 20 PPG with his speed and crossovers, but he ain't consistent enough! Sometimes he has a strech of 3 games where he does it all, like with the Clippers in the playoffs against the Rockets. But with the Wizards he was trash again.
