chess is easier these days when you're allowed to carry every other dribble. i think nba players cant even dribble without carrying these days and it would ruin their offense and handles if they went back to 80s/90s where you had to do a tim hardaway style crossover instead of palming and letting the ball go under your hand as they all do nowadays. kd and kyrie literally carries every other dribble

People don’t realize how difficult it is to be on balance this consistently. It’s crazy how on balance he is with every single movement. Most players have a few movements where they are on balance…maybe it’s the no dribble triple threat, or right to left crossover. But Kyrie’s balance on every movement regardless of what combination he uses and regardless of what the defender does is extraordinary. And you can tell he’s not even going at full speed, this is maybe 70-75% at the very most? Perhaps even closer to half speed than full speed. It’s nuts

The biggest thing that goes unnoticed for kyrie is how he manipulates the ball on layups. Specifically, he can go one handed to show the ball at different angles but his hands aren't as big as say Jordan so he times his off hand to control the ball with 2 hands at the point the defender bumps him and then finishes with one hand to show the ball at different angles. It's something he does better than anyone.

Beautifully done in its entirety; •The evaluation system. •The unbiased criticism, whether positive or negative. •And, imo, I love how you can get someone on a Kyrie Irving level to buy into the process. Impressive. As great as Kyrie is, I think his career has still been slightly underrated. It sounds ridiculous at first, but his off court opinions, whether true or not, are used negatively when evaluating his on court abilities. Its crazy for someone, thats never been in trouble, to be viewed as a "problem" or a "distraction" simply over his personal beliefs. I like that this evaluation is 100% ability based.

@@NoreagaMan I wouldn't even say it was an average workout. It was like playing with his children.. the guy started the video by saying he was Injured and underweight. He was just getting his feet wet. Pretty funny. What do the kids say now a days? There are levels to this. Hahah so cringe.

What a decent vid. I can smell this coolness and effortlessness embedded in these Kyrie plays.

Skill wise, Kyrie is easily the most skillful player to ever exist. No one even comes close to this dude. There is nothing he can’t do and he does it comfortably as well. I’m so glad he had such success in Dallas this year. He took a step back and played being a role 2nd option player. Probably the best version of Kyrie we’ve seen because of it.

5:02 is an excellent example of the difference in being a good player, and being in the NBA. Ol boy on offense lost his balance and did not think ahead of the pump fake. He maybe lost .2 seconds on what could have otherwise been a strong (but still contested) take.

one of the greatest to ever play the game. if it weren't for politics he would've been on the olympics team this year and they would've won even easier

If Kyrie was 6’6 or 6’7 he would’ve been the greatest player of all time.

Its crazy how kai's post work also has a deep bag. Like, guys like jalen brunson and other big body guards have their frame and weight in the post, whereas kyrie is almost entirely post moves to force the defender to make a step where kai can beat them. He does all this in an NBA that gets taller than him every draft.
