I agree, 90's kid here grew up by Chicago. Also Jordan was 38 when he was on the wizards, so what LeBron is doing isn't that wild, he's the same age. Especially since those two get compared all the time, and with the field of sports medicine constantly improving, there should be more than just LeBron in their late 30's playing still.

@@JacobSnover I agree, there should be more players playing late in their careers due to the advancement of medicine, however what Bron is doing is still kinda insane. @@JacobSnover not a Bron fan but how do you even compare MJ and Lebron at 38? MJ was washed up struggling to score much above 20 or hit much above 40% from FG. Lebron is basically having his best season yet. He avg 1 point more like 20 years ago but that was on 6+ minutes per game. He is also beating his career avgs from fg, assists, etc. As for sports medicine don't discount MJ starting to play ball late and taking numerous seasons off to rest, play golf and try baseball. Lebron been in NBA from 18 playing every year and deep into playoffs almost every season. The wear and tear Lebron put on his body is uncomparable to MJ, especially factoring Lebron had lug around an extra 50+ pounds. I was in Chicago during 90s as well, watched tons of the bulls games on WGN.

I love the point about how Steph changed the game and that's one of the sources of resentment. I think about guys like Kenneth Faried that had so much potential at first but couldn't find a good fit in the changing NBA landscape. I think the league should bring back more contact so people can understand that the 3pt spacing already counters a lot of the physical play since you can't hand check someone that is shooting a 3 anyway. With the level of athleticism in the game now and the sophistication of dribbling techniques, I think it'd be a fair balance to bring back more physical defense. It's more fun than Ja and JP getting called for questionable dribbling.

GSW figured out how to win games & are being punished for it. Those hating on the warriors for bringing in high volume 3s hate that they made the game more skilled. You don't get to dominate just by winning the gene pool as a giant or having freakish strength. You must master the skill of shooting. Look at Zion. Steph can never get the calls on his 2 or 3 pointers, it would put him on the line which will produce a 90% chance of winning a game and bring his point per game average at a minimum of 35 points per game or even high.

SHEESH...I've been saying this for years! Folks be hat'n on my boys the Warriors because they dawgs! Refs hate Steph especially because he makes their lazy asses work since, he's always moving. NBA Refs are LAZY af... Then there's the Bron and Jordan fanboy commentators/analysts/and sports journalists who hate that Steph is quickly catching their boy(s) and creating crazy records of his own. And he STILL has 4 to 5 more good years left to play. But he's already cracked the 6 best players of all-time on some folks' lists. Then there's coach Steve Kerr, who is a damn active icon of the game who played with the past G.O.A.T. while now coaching the present G.O.A.T. to-be. Add to all of that the fact that the YEA AREA has one of the largest and most modern arenas with the loudest most faithful crowds, THAT FOLLOW THEM TO DIFFERENT STATES...and yeah...peeps be hat'n HARD!! Lastly, the Warriors have the best culture in the league. PERIOD!! Players come to the Warriors and seem to flourish beyond their previous potentials (Andrew Wiggins, Ty Jerome, Jordan Poole, Donte DiVincenzo, Anthony Lamb, Kevon Looney)...plus the Warriors have a handful of future superstars in Jonathan Kuminga, Patrick Baldwin Jr., Moses Moody and James Wiseman. Then if all of that wasn't enough, Steph, Klay, Dray, and Iguodala have the highest basketball IQs in the entire league and carry with them the DNA for winning Finals! The greatest are always hated. Especially when they can boast as the current Dynasty.

I doubt that any of those Steph haters would pass on the opportunity to have him or a player like him on their teams. What bothers some is not only that the Golden State Warriors play a pretty game. It's also that they win with it. For some others they have made basketball more entertaining. People who say "Defense wins championships" can't honestly say the Warriors don't play defense if they have watched them play. They're not like any of Coach Mike D'Antoni's teams. I'm not a Warriors fan, just a realist.

They hate on the Dubs for drafting well, developing their players, and making minimal dips into the free agent pool, yet don't hate on the Lakers for gutting their team to get rid of their drafted players to exchange for stars to create a superteam...SMH. If any team should be called out for "buying" a Larry O'Brien trophy, it is the Lakers. The Lakers would've been better off keeping Caruso, Montrezl, et al instead of trading them for Russ.

Steph has made post shooting bigs worthless on the offensive end because of the efficiency in which he shoots the 3. 3 is more than 2. And on defensive if you can't chase him around you can't get minutes.its that simple. Rdcworld had the best skit on it... You gotta guard Steph as soon as he way up on the way to the gym that morning.... And it still might not help...This is true greatness...it's not even hype it's fact...

Plus everyone hates them because NO ONE has shown that their management can develop their players better than the warriors. This is just sad dude.

Adam Silver straight up said he wanted to reach a demographic, and make basketball more entertaining, as soon as he said that, warriors magically started winning chips, as steve kerr saw the opportunity and took warriors because they shoot a lot of 3s, midrange and post fades used to be entertaining, but 3 point shooting is also very entertaining and was different, its cool seeing deep shots go in, rather than slash, and slow post ups, he even wants more spectacular dunks and layups, so silver did all he could to make sure teams shoot more outside by enabling illegal screens, and made sure more highlight dunks and layups were broadcasted by allowing illegal screens, same with ball handling style by enabling carry's, its all in front of us

I mean, I'm a GSW fan and I agree about what Austin River just said. And if you have been watching all their games this season (like me) then you will notice that they have tons of turnovers and one of the reason is that the refs are starting to call them on that illegal screen. Most importantly, you do know Austin Rivers is their brother-in-law, right? He even was with the Curry family on their entire vacation right after the Warriors won the chip. You know that, right? 💁‍♂️

Is so obvious what refs been doing all season. And is not even being bias. I remember an early game in Orlando think they had like 45 FTs. Hell just this last game vs Memphis they gave Steph 2 fouls in less than a minute in first qtr! Lol. Klay and Poole had 3 fouls first qtr too. And warriors still had the lead. The league knows they can’t stop their offense so their last resort is to slow the momentum to call every little thing they can “justify” to the naked eye. I forgot what other game Curry got called for traveling when they inbounded the ball. On a play they everyone literally makes as second nature when they bringing up the ball lol. Rant over but sheesh lol

Yes! Refs are giving every team a 10 point handicap against the W's. And when they're on the road, it's more like 20. So glad someone finally pointed this out. It makes sense though. Not that I agree with it but I understand it. It's not good for the NBA if a couple of teams dominate every other team on those teams' home courts. The allure of getting to see the W's play has faded and now fans are just salty that they get blown out every time. If Steph got all the off-ball grabbing fouls he should be getting, other teams wouldn't stand a chance. Which, BTW, that's the same reason they don't call the moving screens on Dre. Most of the time, they happen when Steph is off the ball. If they're going to call off-ball moving screens all the time, then they better match that by calling all the off-ball fouls that they're currently ignoring. Or Dre is handing off the ball to Steph and trying to pop. We all know Dre isn't going to get the ball back but, he still has a right to pop out and prepare to take a pass. Austin's just tired of getting que'd by Steph all the time. And then his sister goes and marries Seth just to rub some salt in the wound. 🤣
@matty7106
@matty7106 Жыл бұрын
I think the reason why Rivers is complaining is because Steph’s release is so quick you have to guard him close ALL THE TIME. Any inch of daylight and he’ll get a good shot off. Nobody else in the league is like that and you can park yourself on the back for a good contest if you stay with your man 80% of the possession. Because they have to guard Steph so closely, every screen feels like a moving screen and you have to get so close to Steph to affect his shot it’s very easy to foul him. So I think Rivers is wrong that Steph gets all the calls but I can see why he thinks that way. At least he doesn’t jerk his head back everytime he drives like Harden.

@alasdairmacdonald9838

The Refs blow calls in every single game. There is no conspiracy against the Warriors. It's true Steph doesn't get the same calls that many other stars get, but that has more to do with the way he plays than anything else. He plays a lot off ball and everyone knows that a lot of stuff that happens off ball goes unnoticed, so all the holding, pulling, scratching etc that happens to players all across the league. When he shoots and when he drives his first instinct and habit is to protect himself and to try and make the shot. Contrast that to players like CP3, Luka, Lebron etc they all will happily plow into defenders and flop as much as they need to even to the point of putting their body on the line in order to sell a call with little care if they shot goes in or not. Klay is the same way only he's obviously much less active with the ball. Dray has his reputation for good and for bad. He absolutely gets away with plenty of illegal screens but then so do plenty of others players too that's just part of the modern game. But for the undoubted reputation calls and techs that he gets. He also has leeway to bark at the refs that very few other players enjoy. This season, the fouls discrepancy is because the team is taking way more outside shots than they used to with very few players who drive consistently with the ability or intention to draw fouls. Defensively they have been terrible with sub par perimeter defense and a lot of players lacking discipline in that area. A perimeter defender gets beaten and out of frustration they foul in their attempt to get back in the play. Players miss rotations or are late and when they close out on 3pt shooter they get sloppy with their movement and get in their landing zone. Finally the team has very little in the way genuine rim protection. Loon and Dray are both great at what they do, but they are just too small to be serious rim protection so they too are more prone to foul in those situation than some of the much larger centers who don't even need to jump in order to alter shots around the rim. This is why the team is constantly overhelping in the paint on opposing drives to the rim no one on the team is confident that whoever is back there is enough.
