Consistency is not possible, firstly you have humans calling the fouls and secondly you have different people calling the fouls. Different people are going to see different things as fouls and then there is human error and biases. This makes it impossible unless a ref is being blatant about it to tell if this is human error/biases or rigging of a game.

That the Lakers took more threes doesn't mean that they took less shots that were likely to garner foul shots. Maybe the refereeing is crooked, but this isn't evidence for it. And yes, the refs are inconsistent. But whining about their making correct calls just means that you are part of the problem. Which is not that the Pacer was called for an illegal screen, but that the Knick wasn't called for one.
