I would like to make one hell of a great observation here: Most of inaccuracies are either very minor or due to science marching on. The Edmontonia is Panoplosaurus (science marching on) The Gorgosaurus is Nanuqsaurus (again science marching on) The Pachyrhinosaurus model is based on lakustai however it would more realistically be perotorum up north though that wasn't discovered until 2012 (a year after this came out) Quetzalcoatlus is featured as a scavenger here when we know it isn't Edmontosaurus Annectens probably had a crest like Edmontosaurus regalis but we don't know for sure. Again, most of this a result of science marching on or is very minor. And then there is the olympic gold medal for high jumping Albertosaurus.

The trope of setting something up early in the story, then using it for an important purpose later in the narrative, is called a Chekov's gun. The comedic version of this trope is a brick joke, in which a joke references something that happened early in the narrative to create a punchline.
@DeviljWheat6 жыл бұрын
March of the Dinosaurs is a consistent story with unique dinosaur choices. While some dinosaurs didn't exist at the same time like Gorgosaurus with Edmontosaurus and Albertosaurus, (Which could be easily passed off as Maiasaura and Daspletosaurus respectively). Dinosaurs like them really need more attention. Funny enough, another movie two years tried to do something like that, Walking with Dinosaurs The Movie.... One of them is clearly better lmao.

A seemingly unimportant character that later turns out to BE important is what's known as a "Chekov's gunman." Here's another example of a Chekov's gunman in dinosaur media: in the first series of Ricardo Delgado's Age of Reptiles, there is a small, lemur- like mammal that is first seen being chased by a young tyrannosaurus. At the very end of the series, it reappears eating the last surviving tyrannosaurus egg.

For the most part this documentary is very good but there is one problem. As a pterosaur fan I am incredibly disappointed by the portrayal of quetzalcoatlus. I mean what were they thinking? It’s bipedal even though it was common knowledge that pterosaurs were quadrupeds long before this was made and it doesn’t have any fingers aside from the wing finger. They also say it’s a scavenger even though that theory had been rejected by that point.
