Love this Celtics team, guards are insane, the two wing players also elite defensively... and don't forget old Al Horford. He struggles vs the quickness but he's still so good at sliding his feet and forcing guys into making tough shots to beat him. They really need Porzingis back for the complete package

Horford is playing out of his brain. He's not supposed to be able to cover guards one on one, but he's at least giving it his all and keeping opponents from the more effective offense of constant ball movement. They see the iso, go right at him and their normal offense goes away. It works for a bit, but eventually it doesn't and they're completely out of offensive rhythm. Sacrificing his ego for the team. That's what wins championships...

They arent marketable because they are a bunch of soft, high BBIQ, defense 1st, even keel personality guys. Essentially a team of brad stevens. The national media and most casuals prefer "dawgs". Guys who trash talk, express their emotions, taunt, alpha scorers. To use a star wars analogy, the media prefers the sith (dawgs) to the jedi (boring nerds). They are more marketable. I dont think jrue or d.whites going to guard luka. Those werent the defensive coverages joe assigned in their previous matchups. What i'd expect is: jrue guards PJ jb guards luka d.white guards ky jt guards gafford al guards derrick jones (and plays roamer if not hunted in PNR) I would expect luka or ky to hunt al. the key for the celtics is to survive those matchups and of course go at luka/ky's weak defense on the other end. They'd probably put al on a non-lob/roll threat so the even when the celtics switch, whoever's guarding luka can try to stunt and recover. This is why i think it will be jones jr. We'll most likely see jt and jb take turns on luka. Jrue will act more as a roamer.

As a Celtics fan, I'll never forget Marcus Smart's brain-dead terrible performance in the last moment of G5 VS the Bucks in 2022 due to Jrue Holiday's defense. Thanks to Jayson Tatum's 46 points in G6, otherwise Celtics may not even made it to the Eastern Final that year. So happy Jrue Holiday got traded to the Celtics this season.

Jrue holiday should be DPOY. Unfortunately I feel like they measure it in stats like blocks and steals. He’s got the steals. But there’s so many things that don’t show up on the stat sheet like forcing a big in the post out to the 3 point line for a double dribble. Jrue Holiday is one of my favorite players in the NBA but Milwaukee didn't make a "Mistake" by trading him for Dame. The Bucks primary concern was to get Giannis to sign his extension. Remember before that trade Giannis went public with the fact that he wants to see the Front Office (Horst) make some big moves if he was going to stay in Milwaukee. Giannis knows that he can't win if he had to rely on Jrue Holiday as the #2 Scorer. It was proven in 2022 and 2023. Boston is probably the only team that was capable of paying Jrue $35/per until he's 37 years old and not require him to be a top 4 scorer on the team. Horst made the trade for Dame and Giannis signed his extension the very next week is all the proof I need to know they made the right choice. Let's see how happy Boston is with paying Jrue $35/per in 3 years when the man is 37 years old and turns into Pat Bev.
