Seems like Spo intentionally wanted his centers in the restricted area to deter drives and Embiid posting up in the paint. Of course this decision leads to other weaknesses / confusion in the defensive rotation. I think this assessment is unfair and cherry picks where this decision led to to defensive breakdowns. Game was close. Spo stuck with the strat and it did what he intended, he just didn’t win out in the end.
@fatalgaming62447 ай бұрын
If you watched this game and walked away thinking “Coach Spo is a fraud” you need to watch a different sport. This game was amazing coaching by both Spo and Nurse. Jimmy playing through an MCL injury heavily hampered the effectiveness of the Heat’s zone and their ability to create offense in the 2nd half and everyone saw it. Amazing scheme by Spo, great adjustments by Nurse, and amazing execution by players like Batum to give them a chance.

@Awful Coaching you need to be a little more honest. Spo made the decision to always have a center in the restricted area to deter Embiid from living and eating in the post and paint. Spo figured Embiid is less effective attacking on the perimeter. This decision can lead to some confusion and weaknesses in defensive rotations as you have 1 guy that is forced to stay in 1 spot. These seem like cherry picked plays where the strategy broke down but overall his defensive gameplan made sense and the heat only lost by 1 point.
