Dark tranquility and in flames acutally swapped singers in the beginning of the melodeath-era during the 90s, so these men are in the history books as one of the inventors of swedish melodic death-metal, and everything that came with it. I can strongly recommend their 2016 album atoma, but they have so many great songs since they started, it's hard to list them all :)

Not only that, their guitarist Niklas Sundin translated Anders Friden's lyrics for In Flames to English back when Anders wasn't fluent in English
@manuelluispereira11394 жыл бұрын
Mikael was never in In Flames he only sang in one album. Anders used to be the lead singer for dark Tranquility and Mikael played guitar in the band before switching. Martin Henriksen was the bassist before switching to guitar. These guys been around for 30 years.

Their lead guitarist is Chistopher Amott that use to be in Arch Enemy. He’s also the brother of Michael Amott who is still in arch enemy. They have a lot of albums, I’ve been listening to them since 1999. You should check out the sun fired blanks and freecard off of projector. Also their latest album is very good. You should check out the two music videos released for this album.

These guys are legends 🔥 Immediately made it on my playlist as soon as it came out. Another melodeath metal band you need to check out is Mors Subita. They're from Finland. You may start off with As Humanity Weeps or Sick. Their latest release Into Eternity is melodic at its finest.

This was a good track. I'm sure the new album will be amazing again. "Damage Done" is my favorite Dark Tranquillity album. I would recommend "Format C: for Cortex" from that album. Another very good track I would recommend is Insomnium - Weather the Storm (feat. Mikael Stanne from Dark Tranquillity)
@LuxTenebrae4 жыл бұрын
Damage done is still my favorite album, Though "A single part of two" is still my favorite on that album. No one recommends it sadly, totally different atmosphere for sure than the rest after.

My favorites by them are The Mundane and the Magic, or The Lesser Faith among a ton of others. Definitely my favorite Melodic Death Metal band. Saw them live in Philadelphia in college not knowing the band at all (my friend invited me) and after seeing them live, I was blown away and bought all their albums immediately. I've seen them live every time they comeback to Philly since then. Highly recommended to see them Live. One of the best frontmen in Metal in my opinion. Great reaction to a fantastic song! Thanks

lethe, insanitys crescendo, inside particle storm, mundane and the magic these are sweeeeet deserts. for the hellhot part of their arsenal ; final resistance, treason wall, the emptiness from which I fed and I'm being unfair to their lotsa songs here.. for broken words... seriously there is no end:) just check out more of m. they never disappoint. \m/

Yeah man, Dark Tranquillity is pretty awesome all around. I got into them around 2005-ish after they released their now classic album "Character" that includes several hit singles, including Monochromatic Stains and Lost to Apathy. But their overall sound has been dubbed Gothenburg Mrtal because they originated it in Gothenburg, Sweden in the early/mid-90s. It's more or less a combo of melodic and progressive Death Metal. And those two styles are the two main factors that get and keep me interested in these heavier metal bands. The songs are well written, have some cool breakdown sections, and the guitar work is fantastic. They use a female vocalist sometimes and it's hauntingly beautiful. But one thing I like about them is their song lengths. They usually run in the 4 to 5 minute range, just long enough to keep you from asking, "Is that it?" and not too long to prevent you from saying, "This is rambling on too long." Now don't get me wrong, I love good long epic songs, but sometimes they can drag on a wee bit too long with repetitive parts. Like 8 or 9 minute songs are not bad, and neither are the 14 to 20 minute songs, but what's saying about the 4 to 5 minute length ones is that it allow you to get onto the next awesome song. And that's especially awesome when you got a band like DT where every song is quite different than the previous.

OMG. I haven't realized they released a new song. That RIFFFF, man. Love it. You should listen to more of them. But I'd say not Misery's Crown. It's nice but at the same time the most casual song they have. Damage Done and Character are my favourite albums. There are dozens of songs you should try, but I'll go with: Something from 'Where death is most alive' live show. Something like Insanity's Crescendo. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnm1m3ucmpxor5Y So fcking beautifull I have tears every single time. Have fun.

Dt changed much over the years, I mean they are an old band as far as band goes lol. I personally prefer the sound of The mind's I (1997) and the Gallery (1995). For me The Gallery is THE melodic deathmetal album of the 90´s. Then something happened with Projector, they started experiment and mixed in clean vocals. Not very common for deathmetal bands to do that around 2000, and adding alot more keyboard sounds. Then Haven came out and to me that defined the sound they got now. I really like this band and the musical evolution they went thru and in my opinion they wnet the right direction compared to In Flames. I still like Whoracle and Clayman thou!

The musicians are artists .They need to experienced music and new ways to continue they inspiration .Most of the metal fans do they thing htey demand from the bands to make 10 same albums like gallery ,they prefer a copy album of the 1st instead of a new sound a new idea. I love they period with projector and Haven so melodic and emotional .What a great band and what a rich discography !

This is why I kind of get passed when people do reactions to bands like Arch Enemy, Lorna Shore, etc. Dark Tranquillity are the kings of Melo death metal. Bands like Mors blow Lorne Shore put of the water. Kalmah is more melodic with better guitar playing then Arch Enemy. Melo death and death metal go deeper then most people know yet no one looks into.
