I like Maxey a lot. He stepped up a ton when opportunity knocked for him, and now he’s a NBA MIP and NBA All Star. But it’s obvious he can’t be the number one option on a playoff team.

100% agree. I saw dumbass Marc Spears say that the 76ers had 3 players better than Brunson meaning he included Maxey in that. Maxey is no where near better than Brunson and Paul George as of now isnt better than Brunson either. Maxey is not better than Trae Young or Haliburton either. He’s really good don’t get me wrong but overrated.

Are you kidding me??!!??!!!! Maxey is overrated??!!?? Sixers without Emiid and George are probably the worst team in the league. No wonder his efficiency and scoring have dipped. You could put ANYONE in there instead of Maxey and the result would be the same, on a team without any notable talent.

Maxey is coming off a hamstring injury and he's seeing a lot more double teams now that Embiid isn't on the floor so his efficiency is obviously going to go down as he adjusts to that. Last season Maxey was at his best when Embiid went down so saying he can't be a no1 is wrong

I just thought I didn't know ball as well as I thought. I don't see close to the superstar ESPN would have you believe Maxey is. Great player, star? Of course, not a superstar. Your team isn't winning with Maxey as a 1, and there are only certain situations that work with him as a 2 if they want to contend. Isn't a midround rookie leading that team? And their record, if he was a superstar he willed a few more victories by himself.

That Maxey take is not a hot take. He’s seen as an all star so when his co stars are out, the best defender is now on him. And Maxey is not a great playmaker, he’s a better 2 guard working with a good playmaker like with harden.

so Luka averaged 33.9 PPG 9.2 REB 9.8 AST last year AS A 5 SEED ONLY 1 GAME BACK FROM 4 SEED CLIPS, with us having a mid season trade and lots of injuries in the year, but it was about seeding, now because Jokic finally averages 30 PPG (I love Jokic tho) everyone says seeding doesn't matter lol, as a mavs fan, screw anyone being this big of a hypocrite jackass tbh

I feel like the Magic Situation rn is nearly identical to the Houston Rockets one last year, star player gets hurt for a long time, and the other player that was dissappointing is able to shine with the oppurtunity, everyone was saying to trade Alpy or Green last season because they "can't work" but those people were proven wrong. Now the Magic have two dynamic players, and I think when they play together, its gonna translate very well. Media needs to stop being so trigger happy on negativity, and let players figure themselves out

Jokic shouldn’t be the current MVP front runner, but not for anything like those perceived “previous hypocrisies.” He shouldn’t be the front runner because one of the biggest reasons he’s won the last 3/4 MVP awards and the reason he’s been constantly at if not the top of MVP ladders for years is finally not in his favor, and that’s games played. He’s on the low end of that this year and when you go into the totals points, rebound, and assists you’ll see he’s no where near the top despite the crazy averages because in the top 20 in those categories, he’s the outlier with lots of missed games. Front runner right now is clearly SGA, and I don’t really see much of a solid case for anyone else, If Giannis wants to get in the argument, the bucks can’t be a 0.500 team in the anemic east, they’ve made headway lately, but he needs to get those win totals up. Jokic needs to make up those games played and get the nuggets out of this slump. Tatum who is absolutely in the argument has an uphill battle, cause the team around him is so damn good, but if he keeps his games played on pace for 80-ish games and Boston repeats as the best record with him having incredible stats, he’s got a case. Luka is in it, but he’s also secretly started the season off missing lots of games again which is becoming a theme for why he’s not getting these awards, he need to pick that up to where he’s not in the boat he was last year where he put up great per game stats while playing 13% fewer games than jokic, and those defensive laps need to stop. Say what you will about jokic’s defensive problems, it’s never for lack of effort or focus on that end.

HOT TAKE VERY HOT TAKE:The championship bucks are better than any showtime lakers team, you put Jrue on worthy Giannis on magic & brooks on Kareem, only two players on that team could shoot Michael cooper who 38.5% on 2 attempts and Byron Scott who shot 43.6% in the regular season but in the playoffs Scott went down to 20% on two attempts but cooper went up to 48.6% so realistically you could sag off everyone but him and completely shut them down

I have to say this the problem is the MVP should be a simple formula. Everybody should agree upon. I've always said MVP has to have a top six record in the NBA and playing at an elite level and if you fall within those circumstances, then you should be up there like to me the fact that we don't have Donovan Mitchell MVP conversation is some bullshit but some will also get penalized for having good teammate around him so the whole MVP discussion is hypocritical for the last decade because beforehand they used to be a standard for the MVP but now there isn't
