It isn’t all about athleticism. Clingan was a part of a complicated motion offense, the direction the league is trending towards. Eden was not.

Your assessment of the Spurs is simply wrong. They view Castle as the long term solution at point guard. They signed CP3 to help Castle and Jones (but especially Castle) learn the position. I expect that Castle is their day one starter in the '25-'26 season. Now, they may be wrong, Castle might not work out, but they specifically didn't seek a short term solution.

Spurs segment is odd, as they drafted a PG with the 4th overall pick. Is that not an attempt at a talented, young PG with whom Wemby can develop chemistry? If the idea is that you don't like the Castle pick, or that you think he'll end up as more of a wing player, ok, but that should have been explicitly addressed since Castle is listed as a PG on the Spurs website.

I’ve never been a Zach Edey fan, but after seeing his summer league performance (also not always a reliable indicator), I think he fits well with what the Grizzlies are bringing back. I believe he’s set up for success by being in a role that will not require much of him offensively and allow him to focus squarely on the defensive end.

The "old shell" Joe Ingles was our replacement for outgoing Kyle "Slo-Mo" Anderson. Ingles is a vet who shoots way better and can swing the ball on offence...which is exactly what we need to stop so much hero balk and encourage more team play.

I don't think OKC should go all in with their draft picks any time soon. They got better with the addition of Hartenstein and they have a young, talented core that's ahead of schedule. They got at least one or two seasons to watch their current roster and make additional moves by using their picks. I´d say it's Dallas will be the new team to beat in the west for the next one or two seasons. OKC and the Timberwolves are next in line at this point

The only thing about the mavericks one is according to Nico Harrison and other mavericks DJJ just didn’t want to come back like we thought he would. He wasn’t technically allowed to sign a contract and could only do verbal agreements and the mavericks didn’t want to risk losing him too late and not getting someone to replace him. Nico said something along the lines of “I guess he likes LA more”. Something unexpected happened very early in free agency with DJJ because he had a new agent

I feel like you’re going to regret putting that critique for the Grizzlies quickly. I don’t think Edey is perfect but Edey’s going to give the Grizz a screening presence that they’ve missed since trading Adams. I also don’t think he’s as limited as to being a post presence as you might think but he’s good enough at it compared to other Cs that he should be able to it. And with that, it’ll benefit shooters playing with him even if he’s limited to just being the backup C for them. His defense could be an issue but he’s most likely going to play drop right now and the Grizz have some good defenders they can play next to him to give him some leniency on that end for his first year in the league.

There are greater purposes for some of these young players other than playing in the NBA. Some are contenders for international competitions. They each have their skill sets that can be useful in the future. NBA just like other national leagues have grand purposes that sacrifice the needs of each team.
