When I was at space camp in Huntsville he was our main speaker. I’ve heard he’s the best space camp speaker and i can believe that. He really pushed my desire to become a fighter pilot over the top.

I always wonder how those incredible people had enough time to live such a rich life! Fly to the space more often then I attend my gym, play guitars, assemble and fly models, meet women, drink bear... Amazing people, amazing interview! Thank you for your job!

@@MrBertWayneprivilege? No. Hard work, doing the right thing, learning skills, mental and physical ability, pretty much everything except privilege. People who say that are using it as an excuse. If you are born in the USA everyone has the same opportunity. At least they did until all the woke nonsense

Radio Control needs more high profile personalities like Hoot to stand up for preserving the hobby which Commercial Aviation and the FAA is regulating out of existence. Thanks for the interesting interview with a living legend, Hoot definitely has the "Right Stuff".

I 200% agree and the AMA isn't lobbying enough for us so it's just a matter of time before any rc flight that is outside a ama flying field will be a thing of the past. I have been a long time fixed wing and 3d heli pilot, I love fpv as well but it's sad that FPV is what has caused the regs and its only gonna get worse. We need people like Hoot, Tyler perry and any other big celebrities that are big time in to RC flight to bring it to the mainstream! In case you don't know Tyler Perry is a huge RC flight geek like my self, his RC hanger is absolutely mind numbing... like truly absolutely mind numbing

Hey Hoot come on out to the Jetero RC Club EDF extravaganza Sept 9, 2023. In Dayton, TX, 77535. My involvement in model aviation from age 9 in 1966 resulted in my degree in aerospace engineering from Ga Tech in 1979 and my 44 career in defense and NASA programs.

I met him once many years ago in a bar called AceyDuecy in Oshkosh. I wish I had known he was into RC then. I am a full scale pilot with two full scale airplanes plus a ton of RC aircraft . I have been flying RC since 1975 when my grandmother gave me $250 for graduation. The best pilots fly RC too!

With all due respect to Mr. Gibson (for the record I consider the man a true legend), the problem with the Challenger accident was not a "design deficiency" but a management deficiency. There was nothing wrong with the solid rocket motor design. It was flown outside designed parameters.

I always laugh at folks who liken R/C Modeling w/ something a Kid should be doing. I just retired from 22 yrs w/ Alaska Airlines as a maint tech, QC Inspector & Propulsion Shop tech . . . I've been flying R/C for much longer. I've flown with & met TRW/Grumman Engineers, AK Airlines highest time Pilot, an Original SR-71 Test Pilot, an Opera Singer whose performed in Madison Square garden, a Boeing "Skunk Works" Rocket Scientist, the FAA's head Commercial Aviation Safety Committee Manager, the RADAR operator for the USS Enterprise A/C Carrier (who blamed his hearing loss on the Japanese Imperial Navy) and a Top Gun Inspector named Jim Maroney (whom I would guess you've heard of or met). The point is, the R/C Aviation habit draws in some of the finest Left Brain/Right Brain thinkers I've ever met. Jim was a regular guy, in a T-shirt & jeans, at the Flying Field who enjoyed flying a P-51 & a Douglas Skyraider, both 1/5th scale & recip powered. He was a Gr8 Pilot but I could never figure out why he had a bunch of older pilots acting like Groupies around the guy, until our Club Secretary (the TRW/Grumman guy) told me who he was. I was actually sort of Star struck at first, but Jim helped me get over that by being just one of the Good Guys. I just saw your story here on YT and I was reminded of some Good Times at the model airfield. Gr8 story and Thank You for your Service!
