He misses the entire point of the song as a tribute to giving a finger to Nashville for never truly accepting anyone referenced. While Darius Rucker may have had his own trouble being fully accepted in Nashville, Brad Paisley sure hasn’t.

@@johnlafever3162 The entire point of the song is pay respect to country music in a satirical way. The original song didn't reference anyone.

@@jimjones3605 bullshit! The song is about the politics of towing the line in Nashville, and how painful it is talking to the walls waiting on the phone to ring! Both songwriters Steve Goodman and originally unnamed John Prine were having the same issue, everyone they named in the song, that struggled being fully accepted without major confrontation. As a matter of fact, John Prine didn’t want his name on it because he was afraid of future ramifications. As he said it was a song they wrote as a satirical song after partying in their despair. It was Steve Goodman that chose to have outlaw and convicted felon, David Alan Coe sing it as it was perfect for him. Even the backing vocalists when referencing hello walls, which is a song about waiting on a call while in despair, which was a hit sung by Nashville star, Faron Young, who after three decades of being loved by the Nashville brass, were actually singing about someone that was cut off and dropped by the execs. He destroyed his marriage and drank himself to death being very vocal about his struggles of going from top star to never getting a call. Ironically the big hit of a song, was written by Willie Nelson who had his own struggles fitting in with the Nashville scene and eventually left for Austin and the outlaw scene. The song has deep meaning throughout it. It’s not just some funny song for drunks to sing along with. You don’t screw with the song, and you don’t change the name with someone that doesn’t fit the bill. Brad Paisley is loved by Nashwood and Vegasville! He is no outsider!

@@KTVBOSTON he doesn’t seem to understand to song! because every name in the song is there for a reason, including DAC’s, along with Haggard, Pride, and Jennings, as well as the reference to Faron Young, with the Hello, Hello lyric. It’s a tribute to the great country star that fell out of Nashville management’s graces, fell into despair, alcoholism and ultimately committed suicide. All of the names had their struggles fitting in, as did the writers. The point of being use to never being called by your name is you are never called, as in Hello walls! Brad Paisley “IS” Nashville! That’s why it’s Bullshit!

Steve Goodman wrote the damn song with John Prine and had he lived past age 36 he’d probably be a lot more famous, or a lot less obscure.
@johnlafever3162
@johnlafever3162 3 жыл бұрын
@@your_royal_highness what’s your problem? Do you even understand why John Prime chickened out putting his name on it? It wasn’t because it was silly as he now claims that it’s so successful. It was because it was a big middle finger at Nashville for never fully accepting either one of their folksy writing styles. David Alan Coe was the perfect artist to perform the song, a Nashville songwriter, and performer in his own right that was never fully accepted by the brass in Nashville, even before he went to prison. Every person referenced in the song has a history bucking the system in Nashville or having some sort of their own personal struggle, clear down to Faron Young referenced in the Hello Walls music, is a reference to his suffering from alcoholism and depression from what the successful Nashville star said was Nashville abandoning him, until he committed suicide.
