I just picked up an Aussie made Hoover 5.5kg top loader that is brand new and still in the original packaging. Can't wait to have my clothes washed without fancy computer rubbish to make the cycle go on for over an hour.

I got last Christmas 2022 a brand new Simpson Genesis 508 Auto suds from 1993 brand new in the box never been touched in 30 years 🥰

Same as me 😢 I use to have a 7.5kg one and my dad (before I was born) in his old house had a Hoover (forgot model) from the 1980s

Proper job, I would be happy my laundry was clean in this machine. Can't say that about the new machines 😮

I was never a fan of the power pulse Hoovers, they did wash well though, I am trying to track down a Frigidaire Imperial or similar with the pump action agitator, my nan had one and it was the best washing machine ever and built like a tank, it went for almost 50 years before the pump failed, my grandfather put it on the curb side waste before telling me, no surprise it was picked up 5 minutes after he put it out, bummer! In the last 20 years of searching I still haven't found one for sale and now starting to doubt I'll ever find one....

As luck would have it I found a Frigidaire Custom Deluxe in pristine condition in a deceased estate sale here in Perth. It hasn’t been used in years but still runs just fine. Needs a bit of TLC but all in good time

@@holdenvtseries2274 yeah, I found one tucked away in Brunswick back in December last year, needs a bit of a tidy up but it’s all there. Paid $800 for it, the guy knew it was rare but it’s a small price to pay for a rare classic. I looked for 20 years, hopefully you don’t have to look that long.

Hey Mattie, any instructions on how to prevent the lid from stopping the cycle when lifted? I always wanted to know the best way to disable the latch so i can view the cycle when mine operates! :)

There is usually a small hole where the lid switch sits in that moves a switch to the side and activates the machine. Look on the lid if there is a pointy piece of plastic sticking down and see where it sits when you shut the lid. Use a plastic clothes peg or something to push the switch across :-)

Any reason why the selector would stick or stop before the spin cycle, mine randomly just doesn't click to spin

Check that the No Spin or Drip Dry option dial isn’t selected or it will hold before the spin.

@@warrenfranklin7579 your machine may not have it then. If it still won’t spin the load could be unbalanced. Other than that I’m not sure

@mattie17 if I open and close the lid a few times it goes back into operation. I'm thinking it's just going out.
