What a beautiful Hoover, that's my dream turbopower! and blimey, 2003?! I thought these were from the 80s! every day is a school day eh
@jakemcintyre48204 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I love the red thats why I wanted it- reminds me of the red BT payphones telephone boxes! Yeah 2003 was the final year of production for these cleaners, but the design is originally from the 80s when they would of had a headlight, air freshener, and cord rewind! The bottom of the line budget model ran until 2003 but the ones with more features went out long before that. Unfortunatly the restoration is on hold for this one again now as I have realised the hose suction is so crap, and I mean even crappier than I remember it years ago, because the suction diverter is missing! So whe you put it in tools mode it just raises the brush bar off the floor it doesnt actually divert the suction to the hose. 😂🙄 Luckily I have managed to find a suction diverter on ebay that will fit it so thats a big releif as I thought that part would be really hard to get but luckily I have found a new old stock genuine one. I think all it needs now is the spring that goes with the diverter but I may have one of them as a spare already from a machine scrapped years ago, so we will have to wait and see what happens when the diverter gets here!

@@jakemcintyre4820 Lmaooo good days of them phone boxes xD I like red, a lot of my vacuums are red! Ive found a grey version of this Hoover but I might just hold off it till I find a red one I literally thought these were discontinued by the 1990s! Amazing cos that's a dirty air vac, let alone a box shaped clean air vac which would also have been something that lookd outdated for 2003, with the futuristic looking Dc07 being out in 2001 infact the DC07 still looks very modern to me IMO, I hope your restoration goes successful, would be a shame to strip this for spares!
@jakemcintyre48204 жыл бұрын
@@parwaz7861 oh dont worry it wont be stripped for spares, not now I have bought a suction diverter at least. Yeah haha the phone boxes were brilliant, they are all being removed now it seems which is a damn shame. It is weird to think that this was being sold at the same tine as the DC07, as the DC07 and this are worlds apart. I too think the DC07 still looks modern, all the grey colours on the standard model are still in fashion! Yeah I do like the colour red a lot, probably why I live dirt devils so much haha

@@jakemcintyre4820 That's great t hear, can't wait to see it all refurbed! No way all phone boxes are being removed?! That's not a good idea, how are people meant to make emergency calls when their phones aint got topup or summat :/ The Dc07 shape makes it look modern, especially the cyclone assembly, it looks like an aesthetic design when it's not, which is amazing I love me a dirt devil, and a red Henry, I dont like Henrys in any colour other than red, dunno why
@jakemcintyre48204 жыл бұрын
@@parwaz7861 thats what i said about the phone boxes exactly. If you need to make an emergency call now you have got no hope. Its not even like if your phone runs out of credit or the battery dies, what if you simply forget it and whilst your out you see a robbery, fire or some other crime like theft in action? Plus I dont know why, but the phone boxes round here used to have quite a lot of people using them, not just old, but people of all ages. We dont live in a poor area so it always made me smile that there were people still relying on these that may not have had mobile phones. I dont mind henrys in any colour tbh, I am not a number one fan of them anyway. I dont know why but i find them boring, I prefer a vax multifunction canister any day of the week. It just amazes me that they are no different from any other canister made in the last 40 years but slap a smiley face on and everyone thinks there great 😂😂 I dont think they are particularly reliable either, the circuit boards and switches go after 6-7 years. I know the latest ones are single speed with no circuit board so I think numatic realised they were breaking too easily.

What alarm system do you have on the house? I have a Ring alarm system
@alarmmuseum4 жыл бұрын
There used to be a few videos on it, but they aren’t here anymore, it’s a red shield alarm
@jakemcintyre48202 жыл бұрын
I had videos on here but I took them down when the system was swapped over. The current system is an ADE Optima compact with a seco-larm internal sounder downstairs, Texecom Veritas P.I.R in the back room, and door contacts on the back door. There is a CQR Somach 2 internal sounder upstairs with a panic button in my room, and a pyronix P.I.R in the computer room. The loft room has got a vintage 80's P.I.R in it and I have kept both the red shield bell boxes, the one on the back of the house is a dummy and the one on the front has been gutted and has a sound bomb in it with a strobe bolted on. I will do a video of it in the future.

The date code on that is 9715, which is the newer dating style Candy started using. It is YYWW format on these, so 1997, week 15. By the way, I thought you were pulling our leg, when you said the bag door would blow off, and then I found you really were pulling a leg, hahahaha, the leg of a pair of jeans. Never seen anything like it, and jeans are a very tight weave so would not let much air though, thats why people wear them to keep their legs warm. You need to use a very permeable material to make a bag, and clearly they didnt, but I will give them 8/10 for ingenuity. They should have gone to the Beko1987 school of "Will It Hepaflo", lolol. Nice to hear from you anyway, thought you'd be stuck in tier 3 lockdown, but perhaps the Wirral doesnt come under Liverpool, not sure. Stay healthy and best of luck with lockdown.
@jakemcintyre48204 жыл бұрын
Ooo thanks for telling me! I thought it was later than 97 as I remember seeing these in argos as late as 2003! Yeah I wasnt going to do a video of this cleaner but when I figured out why the bag door was blowing open I just had to. I have seen plenty of things used as bags, freezer bags (but there was obviousley no suction at all with these as they are plastic and are an awful choice as im sure you know) I have also seen socks, t-shirts, even a ladys stocking once, it was just fitted around the bag fill tube with an elastic band holding the leg part shut around the tube! Never seen a pair of jeans used until today though. I had to show it as this wasnt a quick fix, whoever made this had obviousley spent a lot of time sewing together and making this contraption, and the fact that the 'collar' of the bag was an exact fit and made to a good standard, well it would of just been rude not to show it! And as for hepaflow fleece bags, if they couldnt even be bothered to use a pattern paper bag I think we can pretty much forget all chances of whoever owned this using a hepaflow in it. Ha! And yes I think we are on tier 3 lockdown on the wirral and we are also being classed as Liverpool (this has made a few people angry as they want absolutely nothing to do with Liverpool or to be asociated with it in any way! Ha!) But I have to be honest I have lost interest in all this coronavirus rubbish as it has just gone on for too long now. I hope you are well too and are still bringing new life into old vacuums as always!

Hey Jake funny to see one of these with a red handle there normally grey.

I thought that too, but then I noticed this. With the later bottom of the line ones if the handle is red, its a total system, and if the handle is grey, its a seperate tools model.

Crikey, that hose suction is really terrible, they were not that bad! Something is really not going right with that. The base plate being attached and the shutter that closes off the air path that goes to the nozzle is what causes the suction to go through the hose. They were not too bad suction really. Interesting that it has a red handle, they were grey on these. There was a non total system model in this colour scheme which had a matching red handle but that was a mail order exclusive. This particular example was manufactured in week 15 of 1997.
@jakemcintyre48202 жыл бұрын
Hello Mr. NumaticVacuum! Sorry for not replying, I did not realise you had commented! Yes your right, there was something wrong with this machine, it was only after making the video that I bothered to take the base plate off to check the little shutter and then I realised it was non existent! It was missing and all that was there was the little spring still hooked on at one end! So the hose suction in the video wasn't sealed so it was literally being split between the floor head and the hose! I luckily managed to get a brand new genuine replacement tool flap from ebay and fit that in and now it works ok, I have got a wedgewood greeen turbopower from I think 1987 that I want to make a video of but unfortunatly the bag door has started falling open whenever the machine is picked up by the handle for some reason 🤔 I love the Turbopowers because of the looks and how well they clean, it's just a shame they are so flimsy and delicate. I cringe every time I have to change the bag in one, I always think the hinged side is going to snap clean off! I really do need to make a few more Turbopower videos, I have also got a burgundy one from I think the early 90s with a bag full light and headlight, and then another billy basic model in blue from I think 98 with no headlight, no bag full, not even any tools just an on/off switch mounted on the shoulder of the machine, I think thats the lowest one I own. I think my favourite is the burgundy one but I also love my two speed wedgewood green one! I think the suppressor is starting to go in the wedgewood green one though as whenever it's on now it has started to smell of electrical burning so I just keep putting more air fresheners in it haha 🤣. I think the motors can be sensitive sometimes though as well as when the burgundy ond has been on for a very long time the motor changes tone and feels and sounds like it has slowed down slightly, and that was with a fleece bag in it too. How many Turbopower 1's have you got?
