If you have a car collection, or cycle through cars regularly, you have a mechanic. If you're an avid collector, you may even have two of them as full time employees and justify their expense by selling cars. That means you end up needing to get a dealership license, which means you end up with dealer plates and other benefits. Still, it's pretty normal to have a general mechanic that suits your needs. Oh, and those shocks were properly priced. They're not the cheap shit you bought down at NAPA.

I had a 1994 Cadilac Deville Concours. That car was cosmetically perfect inside and out. First year of the Northstar. The car was in the shop at least every month. I had a good realationship with my mechanic and gave him a big chunk of my savings at the time. I still get nightmares whenever I see a Northstar engine.

Hey, Car Wizard if Hoovie has to install side markers he should use the ones you find on the new Corvettes, they're a lot of new cars using them now so you shouldn’t have a problem finding one with the proper radius.

We used the "wedges" to increase ride height, back in the "dark ages" of the '60s. I did that to my '61 and '62 Buick Skylark to give the rear increased height over stock. It was a "thing" back then to give a car a "raked" look! The thought was better (?) aerodynamics! You could do ANYTHING to a car back in THOSE days, put "glass paks" on a brabd new car or give it a "performance" tune by modifying the carburetor or advancing the ignition timing, at least in Minnesota!

Those Lexan quarter windows are badly scratched. Could replace it with abrasion resistant poly. You might be able to polish out the scratches a little with a special poly polish. I was making windows for vehicles for a dozen years and nobody treats poly the way it should be. Clean it only with alcohol and a new microfiber cloth and don't rub.

For front side markers and turn signals, that chrome bead between the body and bumper could be replaced with an led strip, with a silvered outer layer, kinda like the hyundai sonata’s DRLs. Similar approach, maybe, for the rear, tuck a body colored strip between the skirt and quarter panels

Calling it a prototype is a stretch. It's more like a show off SEMA build. It was a production Eldorado that was customized by an outside hot rod shop. It was only intended for shows. The only reason why is drivable is because it started as a complete production line Eldorado. GM never intended to use any of these modifications on any car.

It is amazing the bureaucracy to get vehicles on the road even when the drivetrain, crash performance etc.. are the same as a production car. The door poppers shouldn't be too much work even if you had to replace them the door's and everything are already setup to use them.

I have learnt so much from your channel, now I even know that the Cadillac badge contains six little ducks, I agree with the ladies, that is very cute indeed. I canardly believe my eyes! It reminds me of my time in the Boy Scouts, all the other patrols were named after birds of prey, Eagles, Kestrels, Hawks etc. and our patrol was named Woodpigeons - kind of softly round and coo-coo and easily abbreviated to "pigs". The car is very cool but it remains to be seen how much it will take to make it driveable -but it needs to be saved even as a show queen.

They're merlettes, heraldic symbol dating to the late Middle Ages, Cadillac's emblem was originally based heavily on the coat of arms of Antoine de la Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, which has that feature. However, they've reduced the detail on the design in several revisions in recent decades, so it looks less and less like the original source.

Wizard to make it road legal it needs the indicators at the front it wouldn't be hard to find them but what do you use something that doesn't detract from the style of this very good looking Cadillac

Reminds me of the 50 or so Turbine Cars Chrysler crushed decades ago - except those were beautifully made, perfectly functional, and were as cool as could be. Jay Leno has one of the few remaining (probably the only roadworthy one) It sickens me they decided to destroy perfectly good cars (they lent them out to people for free to publicize them - fascinating!) Jay accidentally overheated his and has undertaken to rebuild what was ruined, which is no small task. Hopefully he'll get it back on the road soon...

Yo Wiz. Not sure if you read these or not but being they customized the top of the car I'd tend to believe they did not go through the trouble and put drain holes for the sun roof.

A friend works for nissan in the UK and apparently they take a new car once a month and tear it to pieces to make sure it all up to specifications then it's scrapped and apparently its payed for by the government hear to keep quality up so it's no surprise that a show car is just scrapped...just because...

I hope that Tyler and you persevere and are able to get the car to a state that it can be safely registered and driven. I realize that both of you only have so much time and money to spend on each project.

Does Kansas have a “historic” registration? In Maryland anything 2003 or older can be registered historic and requires zero inspection of any kind or emissions.

I truly hope you don't put the side view mirror monitors all combined in the rear view mirror monitor (cheap and easy solution), it should be a custom job using 2 tiny separate monitors installed on the inside corner of the LH & RH doors where you would normally look when changing lanes/passing/backing up)! Also you should install custom bent exhaust tubing where the flex pipe is (was)...

@@CarWizard i don't think it will pass with cameras, my hunch is they will say if the camera system fails you got no mirrors e.t.c so they won't accept it, but i am not american and i have been wrong before so don't take my word for it.

The last v8 Eldo/Tornado/Riviera was the best. The NS engine was actually a good design. Many wind up in sand rails/dune buggies and are bulletproof in the field.

Jay Leno uses wireless temporary signal devices on some of his vintage cars. Similar discreet alterations might go a long way toward making this remarkable vehicle practical and street-legal.

I think if he/you guys opted to replace the existing suspension with an adjustable airbag suspension, you'd be able to kill two birds with one stone getting the suspension sorted while also being able to raise the car to air the tires/load onto lifts (probably tow trucks) easier. Would still give you a nice floaty ride! When the car is finally re-titled, im curious where youll be able to mount a plate...
