Rear tray is a must. Even at factory ride height, it's still a very low car, and there's many sensitives parts that could easily be damaged and worth way over the price of that tray. But even with the cost of this part, you made the deal of the century ! It makes no sense to me not to replace it. Also, full annual service. Again, you made the deal of the century, treat it well, and you will enjoy it for years.

C'mon Hoovie, do the full service and the tray, - at least the tray. All it's gonna take is one big stone flicking up into the flywheel to grenade your engine. You really gonna save $2500 now only to spend the $15,000+ for an engine out and a flywheel replacement, as well as whatever other damage it's caused? You've already got a huge dent in the fuel tank from not having the tray on. You really wanna chance it again? Maybe the fuel tank won't be so lucky next time. The service is also gonna be important since you don't know the history of the car. As reliable as the 458 is, it's reliable *for a Ferrari*. It's not reliable enough to be cheaping on the services. It's still a Ferrari, not a Hilux. You haggled the original owner down $20,000 what he was asking for. You can afford to spend an extra $3000 to make sure the car's going to be good for years to come.

it was kinda sad to see you say no to a lot of things for this repair..... like a full service. I would definitely have bought an rear belly pan - especially since the clutch is has an open hole. This way rocks and dirt would not go in and damage the transmission ..... personally I think you should do the full service since the repair bill was so low... the fuel tank replacement was definitely not necessary though. As for the moaning Diablo.... could it do something with back pressure in the exhaust somewhere..... as you said it gets louder the more you press the accelerator.... or it could just be an exterior weather stripping seal somewhere... those are my two best guesses...

Really enjoyed your video, great find. I would definitely replace the battery and also the body pan at the rear. Enjoy your channel, one of the best on KZbin.

So my takeaway is that you got a great deal on a car that needs a small bit of work but instead of making it right, you are going cheap, like the previous owner... I gotta say, I’d sure go ahead and do the annual service. I know I’ve heard of weird stuff specifically with the brake system if it’s not serviced. Especially since it had different brakes then stock I’d personally like the peace of mind that the fluid was inspected. And don’t forget there is a TSB on the 458 brake system that has no repair yet on the 458. It’s something to do with the Bosch components. I think I’d also do the under tray, though I think given this cars pedigree I’d try to source a used piece not new. And finally I think I’d repair the tub, specifically because that crack can and likely will get worse. I think I’d pass on the fuel tank issue unless it becomes a problem and while the diffuser is kinda important there’s no guarantee it won’t break again especially in Kansas and some of the roads here. I again might find a used one later if I broke the existing one more or worse. At the end of the day it’s a high mileage, salvage title Ferrari, with interesting modifications and ugly repairs on the front welded areas. It’s never going to be worth what a clean title car is worth. BUT it also is a running and driving 458 Spider that has minimal issues (except those noted) that you got for less then 100k. After these few repairs and the interior leather repairs and maybe a switch for the glove box your into this car for about half a non molested one. That’s a good purchase in my book. Likely anything that pops up would do so on any 458 and not attributed to the accident at this point so gold star for Tyler.

I live in Vegas, and a lot of the roads here suck! You need to put that shield on the bottom or have Wizzard make a plate to bolt onto that opening to seal it off. No matter how carefully you drive, you are going to get dirt and debrie in there around the flywheel and then the clutches and RMS. An ounce of prevention....

I feel so sorry for that Ferrari went from half assed owner to its new half assed owner. I didn’t mind the fuel tank dent, but all the rest of the stuff he skipped over just annoying. I think the missing bottom panel is important for ware and tare reasons on the exposed parts of the engine.

Check your Air Oil Seperator / Crankcase ventilation system system on the Lambo... I've had a similar strange noise and turned out to be a bad oil separator causing the motor to pull a vacuum through the rear main seal, which creates a moaning/whistling sound~ Replaced the separator and put in a new rear main seal just to be sure and boom - noise was gone. Good luck!
@SteveBassen2 жыл бұрын
Check the seals on the power steering pump, Honda had a similar issue with moaning when air was getting sucked into the pump from worn seals around the hard lines
@ahniiso56422 жыл бұрын
I’ve never seen Tyler so frugal with his money on repairs. Also, the Diablo might be aluminum intake pipes. I’ve noticed the same moan on turbo vehicles when using cheap pipes. Just a thought, I swapped the universal pipes for a high end unit and the sound went away.

in Australia you would suffer from what they call 'tall poppy syndrome" any Ferrari that wasnt hooned around, given the Ferris Bueller valet treatment, or had a timing belt with a mid engine are actually not stupid expensive to maintain compared to most cars that are not cheap brand new.

Tyler, tell David to check the idle air control valves. I have heard that several times before and it was almost always an IAC. Also there may be a helmtz resonator on the intakes between throttle body and air filters. A lot of domestic cars those sometimes crack and also make that noise.

For the Diablo, I wonder if it's not the throwout bearing but a trans input shaft bearing. That bearing is rotating anytime the car is moving and in gear, and anytime the engine is running and the clutch is released. I have a honda beat that has a worn input shaft bearing and the noise can be similar. With the car actually driving, the only way to stop the noise even temporarily is to hold in the clutch while coasting in neutral

Over 80 thousand miles on a Ferrari is considered high mileage. I've seen old air cooled Porsches that have 300 thousand miles and running just fine. I'm not saying Porsche is superior and cheap to maintain but based on what I've seen about Ferraris, I wouldn't want a car that is a ticking time bomb.

Since I've done this on my car, I can tell you EXACTLY what that bolt/washer combo is that's holding on the rear diffuser. Home Depot sells washer kits for holding lawnmower blades on. The bolt is probably from elsewhere on the car, and the washer is from one of those kits.

13:42 Does it have wheel bearings from the GTR also? Isn't it a risk to run like that without having the tips of the driveshaft in them? Making a unnecessary load to the bearing and risking premature failure?

My WRX had a cracked splash guard on the left wheel well. The tiny crack unknowingly to us, became a tiny hole. Long story short, it corroded one of the battery terminals, and it caused start up problems. I had to refinish the battery location, fix the splash guard and replace the battery terminal. A 58 dollar part became a bigger problem. Don't cheap out on splash guards. They may seem unnecessary, but they have a job to do.
