The issue with SCUM today is that there is no incentive to play SCUM beyond PVP content in terms of raiding. Its RUST with extra steps. Just Look at it its just raid, sell, build, raid repeat. There is very few reasons to even play other then PVP. There is too much for too little, lets be real every update is PVP this, PVP that. Yet every time we get more PVP features and Nearly every PVE feature is soon twisted and or utterly ruined. Hunting is dead because they got rid of animal spawns for one reason, Scavenging for resources is just to prep for raids, You have no reason to move on Bunkers because they have to be ON to even work for one reason yet again. The puppet spawn system is bricked for the exact one reason that all these systems share in terms of and issue, SERVER performance. If there is a problem with PVP, take from PVE to fix it. Take away all the animals so now there is less strain on the server, clear out bunkers and only have a few working at a time will frees up servers, Line of sight / Proximity spawns puppets will help servers, everything for the past few years is about sacrificing PVE servers for PVP players. When 0.8 launched and all subsequent updates launched you just got the stripping of PVE content, which is why people are starting to compare SCUM to RUST now because that's what fells like and is headed towards. SCUM 0.75 was peak SCUM and everything after has its issues be because of PVP not refining on what was already there with PVE. We all are tired of PVP, were is the PVE and again some puppets don't count. Lets keep it a buck, the reason we are getting Actual NPC's and a Quest system is because the Devs realized that all this PVP content won't keep people around and people need a reason to play other then "This a more complex RUST." And if they don't restore PVE features and content this will die because of Death in Detail. Again Too much for too little. There is no SURVIVAL in SCUM beyond keeping your meters filled so you can raid. Also a easy fix for traders is inventory scarcity and a basic trade economy.

I played the game about 750 hours prior to when airplanes and traders were introduced. Back then I tended to play on PVP servers, but the rampant overnight base raiding was a real drag so I mostly just played as a murder hobo. It saddened me to see those features (airplane and traders) were being added as it felt like the "pure wilderness survival" experience was being "ruined." That along with being a bit burnt out made me set the game aside completely for about the past month. I have already increased my hours to 900 hours. I like the game how it is and have been having fun on a very easy, high loot, mostly PVE server. What any particular individual or group of individuals would prefer is irrelevant. The game should cater to as many different preferences as possible. Obviously official servers or default settings will be a thing; but the best path forward for a game like this is to make it as easy as possible for end-users and server owners/admins to tailor the experience however they prefer. Adopting this approach to the game can not only "save it" from the crisis it has been in for these past few months; but sky rocket its popularity into the stratosphere. Setting aside any technical issues related to the specifics of how the application's architecture may constrain "moddability," the game's core design and play loops are literally perfect for modding and providing a framework for a rich ecosystem of player derived variety in experiences. Best "solution" to this games "problems?" A really good API / SDK / modding kit that allows modders and users to tailor their own experience to their liking. There is already an element of this; expanding, enhancing, amplifying and extending the diversity of SCUM experiences is the best solution. My understanding is that the developers of the game has expressed the intent to introduce modding (beyond what already exists in the form of adjust parameter values in config files). I just hope they are earnest in those intentions and moreover that they appreciate how much VALUE making the game highly-moddable will add in terms of long-term total units sold.

From my experience, the moment there is a money/traders system and you can buy all the guns through it, then the ultimate goal becomes to stack up money so you can buy the all guns and get back on track as soon as possible when you die. Vanilla DayZ does't have that and its a totally different experience. (You have to find everything.) Also there shouldn't be zombies in the forest or in the middle of a mountain..... Have the wildlife be a threat when we're out of town....

Yeah and their resistance to letting people host on their own PC has been hard for me to understand. It maybe made sense if they were going the route of being an e-sport, but they never really pushed that. As a survival game, the added expense of having to rent a server, especially when TONS of hard core gamers have a computer well capable of handing them and their handful of close friends... On fiber.... I dunno. I dunno, just always seemed counterproductive to me.

I would really love to see the old respawn back with the fame points. We are criminals on a island you don't buy gas you steal it! As for the future of Scum I think they really need to do some major fixing and fast if they want this game to survive. I own my own server and I have seen a 80% drop in players since this last update, it is forcing me to make a decision to either keep my server or shut it down.

Hoards is fun. More people are playing SCUM now. Before hoards the game felt more empty. Now its more of a fun challenge. The part I don't like is the sudden spawning, and entering the abandoned bunkers where the hoard trigger the razors sometimes when SHTF.

You are definitely not wrong. Maybe the random spawn system should happen just when you die because of a player?.. a lot of people are playing just on PvE servers or just for the PvE experience so would be a little sad to punish them by loosing all the loot because a puppet killed them🤝

So the bigger squads would always win - even more. They'd gonna keep (more) players in the background until the (less) defenders are all killed and miles away. Remember, the typical scenario is big squads raiding smaller squads until big squads remain. Not talking about how bad this would be for solo players. How about one bed per squad (similar to one flag per squad) - and yeah, no sector spawn

Exactly my thoughts. It's not hard to track deaths, if you're killed by a player or trap, random respawn is what should happen not if you die from bugs or be killed by NPCs

No need to feel sad. I play mainly pve/hardcore and death should be punishing since the only way to die is from whats in the world. It's a survival game after all so if you die you lose. The goal is don't die. Also agree with Ray that the traders took it from a survival game to a looter game. I'd love to see respawns tied back to fame with the ability to server admin fame mechanics a bit more. This way we could turn traders off without them being tied to another game mechanic.

I think if we're gonna have a fame point based spawn system again they need to fix the fame system. Getting fame for players who mostly PvE or are solo is incredibly tedious now, and is frankly not fun to grind at all.

I was always of the mind that players in squad should have some restrictions: 1. You can only have ONE flag for the entire squad 2. You can only respawn in the flag area 3. Once you die and respawn you get an INJURY/DEBUFF that can only be removed by a skilled doctor (NPC or player) but player base needs an operating table for that 4. As you respawn you will also need to fill up on calories and water as the cloning shouldn't "feed" you Summary: You die, you lose fame, you get a debuff and you have to eat and drink. Creating the need for realistic logistics needs. With these basic changes you could have a nice balance between people getting out of the fight and being able to return to it in a reasonable time frame. If your base is far away that means you need a driver to constantly "transport troops to the battlefield". This already makes it necessary to have two specialized players not directly being involved in fight but providing much needed support. As for the traders I don't mind them, they are a saving grace for bloody nails as not all of us can play more than couple of hours few times a week. Credit cards are bit tiresome to use, I must agree.

The problem has always been how fast you can get back to the fight. Randoms all day. Fair for all. You are correct that if setting remain convenient then shelter spawns in base will need a driver to transport said player. Solos have no chance with anything but random spawns.

I don't care if scum comes up with an update to have dragons flying around as long as I can control it in the server settings some people love the traders some people hate the traitor some people love survival some people love PVE survival some people just want to come on and build bases and glorious structures other people want to challenge themselves with one tap puppets if this game is going to be for everyone the administrators need to be able to change settings need to be able to have finite adjustments to make their server exactly what their player base wants thank you Ray kit for everything you do for our scum community

Hi Ray, I've recently started playing Multiplayer on a fairly low pop server ( I've got over 2000 hrs in single player playing on and off since 0.2/ 0.3) I decided to jump in and check out if i was missing out , one of the decisions I made was to play my own way, no vehicle use, no mil poi looting, no base raiding, civvi kit only, I will only engage other players if I'm engaged first, no base, not even a bed, and, I have to admit I'm really enjoying chilling , wandering the map, Bow hunting for food, avoiding conflicts, if when I'm in a town and I see something good, I'll take it to sell on, (yes I'm using the traders) I've discovered things, places on the map I've never been to, it's like a whole new game, this goes to show it's about perception, how people perceive the game and how they decide to play it. As a single player it was all about the base, the vehicle, the accumulation of loot (money, guns, equipment) I'm looking forward to a good story line (leading hopefully to possible escape as you would as a prisoner) i'm interested in what the NPC's and other enemies will bring to the game, I'm keeping my mind open at the moment and will decide if I'm going to stay once the game is fully released, until then I'm enjoying playing my way, silent, stealthy survival..............

"survival is only part of what your doing on the island the real reason your going through all this is for the glory of battle ../ /.. the most famous commpetitors may even get a bounty on their heads" John Dick-2018. Its grown into a pve coop unraidable basebuilding game with the worst of any basebuilding, a complex infection mechanic that is healed with a little garlic, lame money respawn system to force me to use the dumb traders, loot so high ill never hunt or fish, camo system that used to make you invisible but not work when you 'shouldnt' is allegedly disabled, the tpp 'no peaking' mechanic still only works for hard building objects only, the dumb Fortnight leapfrog movement. Many players find it hard to believe they test anything before releasing a patch. Untested ranged AI and dropships or another gun is the very last thing Scum needs now.

There is so many things we are told "It will be comming..." and half we got. And half from that we got just getting us confused.Generators, bankcards, traders is some of them. "Hey, now you got it! And now we will work on ... " Gasstation is just one example that just magical has electricity, and then they added the need for bankcard also. Conclusion - Gasstation has better power backups than the bunkers?

Whatever direction the devs take the vanilla experience of SCUM, I hope that server owners will have as much agency as possible with custom settings. Devs just need to add more into the game and the community will provide a server to match whatever playstyle someone is looking for.

The money system was cool at first. When they were teasing all the different buildings in trading zones. But it got a little wonky because the loop changed from loot and hoard to loot sell deposit.

My solution for your “ground” spawn idea is- use NPCs. After you are killed, you can choose to wait something like 10 min, then get an NPC piloted armoured vehicle that will spawn in from the far edge of the map that will drive you (near, or somewhere within the sector) to where you were killed. When you reach your destination You will be automatically ejected from the vehicle and the vehicle will then drive off back to where it came from until it disappears off the edge of the playable map. Imo this allows the game to keep its “sector spawn” feature, while being a little more balanced, giving enemy players a chance to find out where you are coming from AND giving them a bit more of a grace period before you can jump right back into the fight. This could also replace the bed spawn feature, by giving the player an option to be dropped off a little closer to where he/she was killed for an increased gold cost.

Nail on the head with the spawning, I wish that I was ambitious enough to set all my spawn points to the same Town or sector on my ten slot server. It's only my kids, my cousin, and I that play on it but random spawns would be sick for Fasms Island

When there are too many players on any server, the map feels dead. No more roaming puppets, fewer animals, and I still miss the birds that are flying in the sky we could snipe down. I miss the game and how it was more like in 0.4 or so. Would make sense if your first spawn into the map could be with parachute, but if you are already in the game and respawn on death, that could be more random on groundspawn. Why people using traders like you mentioned to buy building base recourses I'm not surprised, it's so damn expensive to build in this game so people will do whatever it's the faster and easier way to get it done. Me personally, never wanted to have any trader in this game. I also wanted to see fewer weapons and more weapons we could craft that would bring more survival to it as well. Why finding high-tech weapons and armory on a deserted island for prisoners make any sense? The trader doesn't even have something rewarding to do. Would maybe be a little different if you get small missions and quests like 7 days to die and go back to get some reward for it. But they just are there. Maybe the game would be better with fame point spawn like it was before. Cooking food is quite weird as well. They have a lot to work with on SCUM. I think in my opinion it was more fun around 0.4 and 0.5 but then it feels like it has gone a bit downhill 🤷‍♂️

For those trying to play it like COD or PUBG, high loot makes sense. On less loot that would be too frustrating for those types.

I think the fame points should be used. I would happily avoid the trader entirely. But have to use the trader because of the current respawn system. Random spawns is a must. As you just explained. You die in a fight, You’re out the fight. The settings on the hardcore pure scum server. Is the best I have experienced in any server. Pure survival.

A lot of valid points mate, for me currently I don't see scum as a survival game atm, I see a zombie shooter/pvp/raid game. I would like to see it only random spawn and maybe base spawn with fame (but expansive) but NO sector spawn we need to be penalised for making the wrong choices. I like the trader but it is implemented wrong, I would like to see it only have items available after other players have sold the items, eg a player sells a mk18 then 1 is available to purchase, 2 players sell then trader has 2 available. Fuel/gas purchase from a supply at trader yes but in wild need to be scavenged, I like the idea of needing a geny to turn pumps on. Bank should only hold X amount of gold/money for players anything beyond that need be stored at player base. Get rid of bank cards, make player go to bank get money out to shop. Personally I would also like to see bunkers reduced, maybe have some specific ones instead (military,medical ect) even to the point of needing to 1st travel to medical bunk to get hazmat so u can loot high tier military bunker hidden in nuclear zone, Right now u don't need to leave the zone u spawn in, each grid square has everything u need. Bring back survival

there should be no more traders. trading should be between players, as it increases interaction and dynamics of relationships on servers. with traders, there's no reason to interact if you don't want to.

Hello, I have had, the server i manage, always set very challenging. Focusing on survival to an extent that raiding is very rare due to the chance of losing hard earned gear. The respawn system we have now is ok but could always use improvement. I think 10g for a shelter spawn would help reduce the abuse you mentioned. Survival is paramount on my server.. However, 98% of people dont make it.. They have tried to get me to stray from the theme of the server, but that wont happen. Thanks for the dedication to the game, I watch yours, CW, and GC.. I get enough from you 3 to keep up with everything. keep up the great work

I definitely agree 100% about the fame points coming back to the forefront. Especially with how the system is in its current state. I personally would love for a return to it.

Couldn't agree more man, I first started playing in 0.4-5. It was good then imo. Traders and credit cards... it screwed it. fame point spawn was better too

What killed it for me was constant raiding & hacking. Playing for days and weeks only to lose everything in 10 minutes is extremely demotivating.

I got sick of the meta game, the politics that would be played between players, toxicity, and in general how many absolutely racist/degenerate people that got pulled in. I know there are a lot of nice communities spread throughout, that aside, my experience playing on the OG east servers would be as such. Three squads would essentially survive a server wipe, collect most the vehicles, one plane would get locked away, and the other flip flop between those squads. Any smaller squads or random players would have any structures they built wipe or raided within days. Only way anyone could survive is to seek protection through buttering up on discord to the kingpins. Players from other time zones would come in and start hacking and create an atmosphere of hostility. Everyone starts cry bullying and then discords become unbearable and people's worst sides come out. In my squad's case we had to have an admin logged in our base because we would have hackers harassing us multiple times daily for months on end. My teammates then all started to eat each other alive over politics that normally never existed until how stressful the game became with upkeep and lack of genuinely satisfying gameplay. You essentially cannot go out and do anything with how fast everyone can travel and defending your base from how easy it is to raid basically became all you could do. And then the times you would raid, it was always against poor defenseless players since the average person CANNOT keep up with squads that house players from both the east and west. This game is just toxic to the average person or small group. And the thing is, there's nothing more fun than just playing on an official server with a decent population. There used to be ups and downs and you could hold onto a base if you were smart enough, now that seems impossible. You can't even bury a box anymore with the hacks. It's gone overnight. The game becomes extremely predictable, all variety of gameplay ceases to exist, and the servers go empty as one squad sits on everything before getting completely deleted by exploits/hacks. I had the most fun in patch 1-3 back when you were just roughing it in the woods and resources were limited. It felt amazing knowing you were fairly isolated and the reward of finding some loot/gear was an incredible rush. Nowadays nothing feels rewarding and the game is more of a chore with little to no payout or benefit. The best way to win at scum is just to not play and waste your life. Go workout and learn to play an instrument instead in most cases. (Excluding private servers which I will admit are better if you enjoy that kind of atmosphere)

You said it, people want options and you do have options. Just like you said there are hardcore servers that change the game completely. Me personally i like the spawn system as it is right now. The one thing they better fix is the whole desync and rubberbanding, and the movement system. That will do it for me.

I liked the fame points myself. I also enjoyed low loot. I like to craft though--and low loot with crafting made the experience more real and enjoyable to me. Make me work for it in game. If I want creative play I will do Minecraft.

People should just stop to compare Scum to other games and start seeing it as it's own kind. If you do and understand, then there's no identity crisis. Scum's trying to build it's own identity and not being a dayz clone, despite some similarities. People often seem to forget about Scums lore, if you take the whole prison/tv show thing into consideration again, you'll probably see more, if not most things making sense. If you take the economy, bank and credit card system for instance, this is NOT a post apocalyptic world scenario with zombies like in dayz. If you start to remember the lore, all of a sudden it starts to make sense in a way is what I'm trying to say. Theoretically the producers of this tv show could put in whatever they like. I agree, there's certainly much balancing to be done still on many subjects just as bb/raiding and trading and they know and will do, but I'm pretty sure, for them the traders and such make sense for the final product they envision. There's no way for any of us to know what Scum's gonna be in the end.

I haven't played recently because I quit playing after I didn't like the health updates where I had to have 50 rags to stop bleeding from one fight. Scum to me was so much better about a year and a half ago.

Hey Ray, last time I played I found the whole moving to credit card banking system, traders etc....as a big shift. I found weird. I'm going to jump back in shortly to do a video on "is it a survival game anymore?." Re the spawns, if you are focused on pvp maybe the ARK model, of there are bed spawns but each death increases length of time of respawn. I think in games like this penalize players heavily for death from the start. And yes Fame points - the whole gold and banking thing is incredibly odd, and does not sit well with me. I really agree with you a lot. I never played the game before there was traders, so for me that's always been the familiar loop. Once you actually have your base set up thats always been the most important thing bevause if you can make enough money nothing else really matters. There arent many things you cant just buy. Ive definitely thought the game might be better without the traders because it would force people to hoard more loot and it would make the game more difficult in general by requiring trips to certain locations to find particular items you need. That being said, it would be pretty easy for some of the clans that have more time on their hands and more active players to completely lock people out of some types of loot. This is what always inevitably happens in every server, there is a clan that controls Scrap Yard and only people who are very sneaky or lucky will be able to loot it. Same thing goes for brick yard and other POIs that have high demand. I dont necessarily think that's fair, but it is what it is. I suppose those clans would be bigger targets if there were no traders. Some of my major issues with the game are; the prevalence of aimbotting, its almost never caught even on private servers because there is almost no way to prove 100% that a player doesnt just have that good of aim. The ones who are smart simply use the M249 or some other weapon with pretty high spread to make their aimbot less obvious. The absolutely bizarre and broken system of lockpicking where you will never be able to lockpick any player locks unless you have Advanced (all other skill levels below are pointless). From my estimate over 90% of the player base can't really lockpick any player locks, myself included. Of the people who can actually lockpick there are a handful of players out there who can absolutely melt through locks like nothing, so no base or chest will ever be safe. We should not be needing to put 20 fucking doors on our bases to even make them reasonably safe from lockpicking. Thats just ridiculous and not very fun. There needs to be some balancing of the system somehow. Armor and combat in general needs to be reworked or balanced. A large majority of the more dedicated pvpers will tell you dont bother wearing armor for pvp because it does nothing. It should absolutely offer more protection in pvp situations. The combat is far too one sided. I love this game but there are just so many huge issues. Most of the friends ive made playing the game have quit somewhere along the way because the game can just be frustrating and buggy beyond belief at times.

I do agree with you in the general points you make regarding the state of the Game. Raiding is a major issue, not only the respawn in beds but also the fact that bases are so easily raidable. There is no way for you to keep your stuff safe, locks are to easy to take down, walls are paper if you have access to explosives ... And yes I do miss the days in wich fame was the currency to be able to respawn. The game as it currently is favours big squads that are able to gather materials and acumulate wealth. Its kind of madmax ...those who control the resources control the game. Then you have the problem of the 2 facing realitys in game, those who like to play survival and those who favour PvP. 12hr Raids happen because people are kinda playing capture the flag....like a batle Royal of sorts, it distorts the purpouse of the game if you are looking at it from a Survial point of view. So yeah its only one more problem to add to the huge list of problems the game already has. I do believe however that you and other Comunity contributers have a big role and responsability to play by being the comunity's voice not by hate but out of love for the game. I personaly might not share your views or luthais or CasualWardog in some aspects, but I do believe that you each play a very important role in representing the playerbase through the time you dedicate to creating content and sharing your views. So for that a big thank you ! And I hope that between the 3 completly diferent views you guys have on the game the Devs can make it work for all of us ...the comunity that plays and would like this game to reach all its potential.

You're right, SCUM has an identity crisis. It always has. It will probably always have. So the answer to most question will always be: Make it up to the server admins. Let them have control of everything. Official servers will never be a good way of enjoying SCUM. Unless, of course, they start making official servers with defferent rulesets. So fame/gold spawn system? Let admins/owners decide. Hordes? Let admins/owners. Everything? Let admin/owners decide.

Now you have said a lot of things that I meant when I said "the basis of the game is broken and they have to fix it before going on." And there is a lot more unfortunately. It's not only the bugs it's the basic gameplay. Balancing raiding and so on. Even balancing to have a chance as a solo.

been playing scum since v04 and I do love the survival aspect the most. We have a private server since 3y now where we mainly play coop just trying to survive on a bit higher difficulty and less loot spawn. It just is the most fun to walk around, explore, find loot and get excited and just do more or less basic things. For us it is more about escapism to play SCUM. We also have the petrol station extremely slow replenishing fuel (would love to have it limited overall, no replenishing and a possibility to make your own fuel from e.g. corn to make methanol at a later point) I would love to have more focus on the TV Show aspect and just better balanced traders and more which would encourage traveling between them. e.g. trader near waters pay less for salt water fish vs. trader in the snow area, who doestn have access. a bit like Mount&Blade if anyone remembers. Would also have the vehicles need maintainenance and can break down on a more higher level of detail which needs to be repaired and maintained. The initial start of a new game and character is the most exciting where you have nothing and grind your way until you have the first workable vehicle. after that it becomes a bit "stale" with "nothing to do" I cant wait for the PvE content and the AI raiders and Tech1 personell.

I have my own small server but the changes the game has seen and the fact the Devs dont listen for too long means I am closing my server and looking for a new game. we had a Day Z killer but they screwed it up too much with no thought for the player base and thats why there is only a Chinese player base now. As a software tester I know they have let people down big time, and will pay the price.

I’ve not yet been on the new server but I have to agree the spawning system in that server seems great and I can’t wait to jump in to it. I feel only having random spawns would work so much better for scum. This is the main issue I have with the game, traders can be good but yes they are over used for sure. Spawns as random only with FP.

You should have one spawn point bed. Then have the choice or random spawn, your grid square spawn or bed spawn based on money

1. Fame points spawning was the best, when they added gold require to spawn shelter was ridiculous. One server i jumped landed built shelter and campfire ran into a horde, died, couldnt spawn at shelter spent next three hours dying multiple times to get back to my camp. Ended not playing scum for months it turned me off 2. Trader post either need to be reduced or what you can buy be random and rotates every few ingame days or inventory based on what players sell so basically making it a player market that or make it so players can sell stuff similar to rust 3. Gas stations you should have the option to buy it or steal. Maybe during stealing process you have chance to set off alarms that attract puppets similar what they did with the armouries

The server I'm on has the mechs disabled increased loot increased puppets and free gas. I have plenty of gold. I don't use the trader for buying very often. I do sell quite a bit. I have been buying vehicles because I don't think any spawn now. I haven't seen even a dismantled shell since before .95. I grow my vegetables hunt my meat and loot most of the cooking supplies I use. I do buy some things like rice spaghetti and a few other cooking supplies when I can't find them. I think i would like the fame point system for respawning better myself. I started playing when .5 came out single player with vanilla everything. I almost quit playing until I got on servers and now servers with higher loot and no mechs. I enjoy playing now. I still don't go in bunkers or to the radiated area.

The game needs soon to choose his path, the hardcore survival one or fortnite style, too many ppl nowadays come from other fps games where everything is easy and fast. You can run with alot of speed like 30+ km/h with loot on you and everything and accelerate like crazy from zero to max speed, bunny jumping like crazy. (Usain Bolt record top speed was 43.99 kilometers per hour and he is the fastest person on the planet, with proper training and equipment). I like the hardcore survival aspect, we have so many games fps fast shooters, why they want to broke this game too, i dont know. My favourite period of scum was where they introduce that night when u couldnt see without torch or night vision, but many player just disconnect in night and connect on days. And food aspect is whatever, people can find food so easy, or just die for 1k. The spawn need to be done just to shelter/bed and needed to be done in flag area. I was liking when people lose hafl points at death, the game was good there, more tryharding. The game feels like someone said GTA/Battleroyal, with cars driving like crazy and imba with armor, and so easy to find guns. I just have in less than one hour a good gun armor and everything so the challange is inexistent right now. The drop rate of the hight loot need to be 0.1 like how it is know, with tiers, hunting rifle is as rare as an ak, or kruger like m9. And devs focus on superficial things instead to repair and add something to core game. Traders need to be like a marketplace between people, like an intermediar for an amount of money. We need events to happend in real time so people have objectives and to move on the map, others than raiding and pvp. And this game need so hard to have a chance of survive to be able to be modded, so people could make it like they would like it, it would be hardcore servers with hardcore survival aspects and fortnite servers for who want that PVE servers and more.(Dayz was a mod of Arma and he is survivang for so many years cause of modding community). Scum need to learn from this even more because is on unreal engine 5, easier for community to build some interesting things.

one issue i have with scum is the lack of a gameplay loop. the map is too clustered with POI's something i always liked about DayZ is the clear route for example chernarus map(beach spawn and the further north-west you go the higher tier loot you get.

Nah, i can get military tier in DayZ even easier than SCUM. In DayZ however Vanilla Sucks big time. And in SCUM yourm have that in SCUM, but its more of a high tear on the bunkers and POI. But the map POI such as Nuclear zone which is total shit on DayZ, needs more useful when gathering items like Uranium.

I feel like the lore and purpose of our characters existence has been lost. Bring on the experimental monsters, the ScumTV HQ we were promised, the caves and other such items. It's like 1.0 isn't even going to feel like what has been promised since day 1 when I began playing. Forget this money and cards junk, use bartering and gold. Simplify and keep things playable, why have a card when we have a chip in our head?! So many missed opportunities to ease some points of play..

Well, you don't have ground spawns because that is not part of the Lore of scum. The lore basically states when you die prisoners can use scum bucks, and even alluded to someone on the outside paying money to have your clone made and put back on the island so it would make sense if you're being clone they are going to have to drop you off again on the island from the lab you were cloned back in.

Random spawn and or spawn at a pre determined spawn point. Like at the traders. It would cost you to spawn at the traders. May as well add a small locker or safty deposit box at the traders where you can store some items but not at lot. Maybe the size of a small backpack it space.

Beds should be used to rest your char and quickly gain back all of your stam and energy, you should not have to log out for 3 hours to get stam back. You should be able to use any bed and restore all your base energy stats. Beds could also be a buff for healing injuries. Not to spawn at. Should not be able to spawn at a marked location for any reason unless its at the trader safe zone where you really have no combat advantage.

Random spawns are not fair because they are random. Attackers could spawn a sector away after death and the defenders on the other side of the map. That does not seem fair. There should be set spawn locations for everyone in that case.

just need to tweak all stupid things, i can give a few examples and scum is totally playable 1. get more punishing in the vitamins and macronutrients 2. make area of the maps where you can farm an expecific food to supply the vendors 3. make the vendors to sell few things depending on the players on the server 4. make that vendors get supplied by players and the items that players sell get on the vendor reserves 5. make it more base on fame and bases with more fame get mark on map 6. make more tools to make a straction looter shooter mechanic work as a path in the game and i can go on with stupid modifications and the top for scum is the sun one last one hire npc to defend your base and you can equip them and give them food so you make another ecosystem to play along

Raid party's, every trader hub has 1-4 party's of 2-6 NPC those Npcs go out into the island, what they loot, is what the trader sells, the parts will go out to bunkers and towns, the player can then take contracts to either protect a party or ambush/attack rival trader parties, and trade, caravans, that are neutral to the trader bases and will buy and sell loot between the bases, so the loot is constantly moving, and with enough fake points you can set up an area in your own base that these caravans can come and trade with you also

I reinstalled the game for Fozzies new server, and uninstalled it about 8 hours later after experiencing the imposipuppet issues which I had hoped were addressed more than they have been. Identity here or there is irrelevant while core mechanics of the game are just full on broken in comparison to how they were 6-8 months ago. Not reinstalling until they can show some marked improvement in the puppets, let alone the eventual armed guards. If they want NPC's to be a core part of the game they need to work better period. Im saying this based on atleast a years worth of gameplay I spent on some of the hardest Hardcore servers out there, before the puppets changed I loved the game, they wrecked their creation by changing something too much and biting off more than they can chew.

I think the hordes really made it challenging regardless of server setup hardcore/convenient. Before it was just too easy. We have minimal threats as it is. They do need to get them fixed completely agree but not to the point of it being unplayable. I at times find the hordes too easy. This comes down to server population and player/puppet numbers as high pop servers have next to no puppets. Game is still more than fun right now imo

To answer your question - FP respawn system for sure ,this "money thing" is killing not only survival element but also giving huge unfair advantage to raiders ,but have no fear brother ,i think devs will at least add option for admins to choose FP or money for respawn in future and i personally would prefer even more expensive FP respawn ,but if they'll not add this option ,i'm pretty sure this will be one of the first mods which modders will make when game will be relased for modding because there are a lot of players which don't like money respawn and it feels cheap and survival killing to them ,me included. Btw. i understand this is why you like ground player spawn ,like it is in dayz ,but actually dayz has more players because of mods ,not because of ground player spawn and spawn from where you need run hell of a lot kilometers to regain your stuff it's quite annoying for most of players in fact ,FP respawn would be much better ,you would just need to save up your FP for next respawn and you wouldn't have endless amount of respawns ,just very few ,that would be great ,but not ground ,that's not solution ,trust me ,i know it too well. You know ,i have 3k hours in dayz and i own dayz from 2017 and i was literally there when dayz completely died back in 2019 and it was "revived" thanks to 3 things. First is new engine ofc (only after many years which is completely ridiculous) second is option to set your own server on your own pc and third and most important are mods. Official dayz servers are just boring and i mean boring as hell ,only tiny part of community plays official servers ,but modded ones ,that's different story. I came back to scum after few years break (last played 0.7) and scum now have a lot of things for which you need mods in dayz so it feels like modded dayz except it is not and when time will come and scum will be released for modding i can't even imagine how much cool stuff would modders add to this game. You know what i mean? And on top of that server performance is better because all of those tweaks ,adds ,QoL things etc. are just part of the main game ,not mods and i'm pretty sure thanks to that there are a lot of less bugs than in dayz ,dayz is one huge bug manifesto and mods are making it worse ofc but i mean vanilla dayz has hell of a ton bugs even without mods ,community even made a funny nickname for Bohemia ,calling them Bugemia and it speaks for itself. Scum on other hand feels ok ,there are also many bugs ofc but it's understandable cause it's still ea and it's not actually that bad how you would expect from ea ,especially if you played dayz for quite some time. Scum just feels right for me ,i'm not saying everything is ok but if i compare it to dayz from my 3k hours experience with dayz ,with all kind of modded servers played ,scum will be much better when it'll be released for modding and it's better by my opinion even right now when it's still just ea. Dayz on other hand and i mean even modded dayz feels not actually right ,much better than vanilla for sure but lot of times not right and there a lot of things which literally pisses me off in dayz even if it's modded ,scum on other hand has only one thing i really don't like and that's new puppet spawn system ,which i believe devs will tweak and fix despite that right now it's truly broken and it could kill scum if it will be not reworked ,all and all numbers of players from europe and west overall are already dropping ,only chinese players and servers are on the rise so it looks like numbers holds ,but it's not ... but i have faith ,these devs are different than most ,they're listening to their community ,fixing things etc. so i believe they can and will fix this new broken puppet spawn system or if it'll be impossible then maybe they'll just return old spawn system ,we will see in future ... btw. idk for sure if there are options for admins to tweak traders ,to set up what can be purchased/sold but i believe there are options for this and if so ,then this it's up to admins shoulders to set up traders in way that not everything can be purchased/sell ,set up much higher purchase prices and much lower sale price in order to make game feel more like survival and not just zombie looter shooter ...

The whole making a bed and respawning endless while raiding is just a horrid idea. But it also does suck if your base is far away from were you are raiding. Maybe make sleeping bags that have a limited spawns for it so you can apply pressure on the base your raiding. Have a cd on the sleeping bag so you cant make them endless. Idk but that is one of my biggest gripe.

They REALLY need to look at the numbers, majority of players and vast majority of servers PVP... lets go survival! Of course the 75% of player will dislike push to survival. Not suggesting they change course but am suggesting that it shouldnt be a surprise!

Naked runback is super annoying for sure. Respawning thematically is being cloned and tossed back out of an airplane or at least being recovered by TEC1 and then tossed. Ground spawns should not be a thing imo. My other big gripe is the crazy fast movement speed. Play something like dayz/tarkov/squad and use them as a reference for how Scum movement should be to make me happy. 100mph naked barbie dolls sprint jumping shooting snipers is just... fortnite.

For me the game has changed when they added traiders. Before the traiders I use to build a base. Protect it and grub all the loot I can to make sure we are settled. Now I live in a car with 1 kit and I sell everything I get. There is no reason to keep loot anymore

Having the traders is a good idea but the way they have it set where you can buy and sell everything and anything is a bit much. It took me several days to get my server (tales from October) traders set where they sell and buy limited and certain items.

The game's biggest issue that devs never had any specific vision or direction for the game, and it showed day 1 of EA release. They were just chasing trends and implemented bunch of random shit that seemed to be popular in other survival games without any thought process how it would fit in scum. Identity Crisis has been present since release...

fame point system for spawn personally, and the puppet spawn system is really taking a toll on immersion, why are they now spawning in my face and directly behind me after I turn my back? I hate that. Nothing worse than stopping for stamina and all of a sudden have a puttet spawn so close it triggers immediately and starts chasing you out of nowhere.

You have some good points. I personally don't use the traders at all, I feel i detracts too much from the survival aspect of the game being able to buy your way through it. For me, I'd like to see money out of the game completely. Fuel should be available by siphoning from vehicles or pumps using crafted syphons. Fame points should build up to allow you to craft better things, but respawns should always be random maybe causing a small hit to your fame total. Scum for me is by far the best survival game and should stick to that and not pander to those who need an "easier" experience...certainly on official anyway...community servers can set the game how they like

The trader's work fine if they just limit what you can buy and limit trader funds which you can already do per server, all the game needs is the disease and broken bones system, NPCs and better puppet spwans and it will be the best game ever

I don't know about other games but, No One Survived has a trader system I think a lot of Scum players would like. Each trader has their specific items a limited stock and it's a barter system instead of sell/buy. Items are restocked at an interval in settings which can be changed at any time. Trade for an item and you have to wait X amount of days before they even have a chance of having the item again.

@@TJAMES747 I wouldn't notice either way. I pretty much don't buy any of those items. I think I remember buying a chainsaw a long time ago. Before the .95 update I think I bought a small generator and maybe a refrigerator. Then I looted the rest of the ones I had.

Raykit hey man, i'd get rid of traders, get rid of cash go back to fame to respawn. lower the loot, no bot server, get rid of mechs put in troops to guard poi's. get rid of this puppet spawnsystem and have puppets in houses and around the area like before the horde system was made. id get rid of most the high end weapons, i'd bring back building cupboards and stuff in prefabs, prefabs have almost no use now.

shotguns you should get more proficient with, and you shouldn't have issues with advanced skill in having the shotgun reload extremely slow. shotguns IRL are one of the most reliable firearms, and you can't even use double, triple, or quad load as you could when you get mastery of reloading IRL.

Yeah I didn't love the traders. They definitely did bad things for the feel of survival in game. I feel like my draw to this game was the ticky tacky of the health and wound system, which frankly has all but frozen in its development (in terms of what I thought it was going to be, anyhow). I dunno how many people play the Hunter, but I was imagining something that went close to that level of realistic wounding (it's just the animals that get wounded in the Hunter, but .. ahem. They seem to have gone WAY into bullet location, path through the body, how long it takes for a beast to die, or if it can actually carry on and escape.) THAT was what I was hoping for, alongside various medical treatments, both realistic and perhaps a touch Sci fi. And I also got caught up in the idea of melee fighting that would be more realistic, which also has never really panned out. I think the Puppet spawning stuff could be fixed. Not sure why they went the route they did. But yeah, people need, in a game that is meant to feel realistic, to not have spawns just appear where they feel like they have been cleared out. Project Zomboid has done this well. It's not an insurmountable issue at all. Speaking of which, I wish Project Zomboid was 1st person. OMG. Anyhow, I haven't played SCUM in over a year so not perhaps a good source for what the game needs or wants from its current player base, but the things I saw and liked have been neglected or outright abandoned.

Day Z is just better. Scum is boring and Arcady, and is catered for groups. Iv always hated the invisible players unless you’re looking at them system too and the spawning on beds. It’s not a survival game to me. It’s fun for a little while but gets boring fast

DayZ is terrible. Performance is terrible, the mods are buggy as he'll, the texture and vanilla feeling of the game is waaaay simpler and bad compared to SCUM without any mods. DayZ vanilla is so pooooor to SCUM. Some mods kinda destroys the game too, and the downloading of all that ? Man I am literally DONE with dayz specially after spending 3.000.000 mod cash to buy a Little Bird that it's impossible to fly and you crash it.. the game has so much shit into too that all you see us Starwars Helmets, and Duck Paintes Audies in every corner. Mark my words I would not be surprised if one day SCUM 1.5 with mods and new map, surpass DayZ on Steamcharts because they aren't very far from each other

@@christohees9150 defenatly agree. DayZ mechanics are not as good as SCUM. The tension of PvP in SCUM when it actually hapens is WAY better and more realistic than in DayZ. But we had to nerf down the abandoned bunkers. The vanilla settings is way to difficult and i dont like razor or haords spawning all the time. Even though you try to be careful. DayZ can only dream on how detailed the bunkers look.

I prefer they DayZ system, spawn back at level1 with level 1 loot. Traders take the fun out if survival and break the story of being a criminal being dropped. Out of the city i should be affraid of the wild live, like (again) Dayz where the wolved are anoying and the bears are almost certain death if you are alone.

What players want is not always what is best for the game. Take exhaustion for example, most players will prefer to play on a server with exhaustion disabled, as long as traders sell MREs this makes cooking completely obsolete and to a lesser extent hunting as well. I think giving the ability to turn off exhaustion was a big mistake, 99% of players will choose the easy route and eat trader MREs for the rest of their SCUM life. To touch on player spawning mechanics, there would need to be a rework of the game to spawn with FP again, FP is already an issue on vanilla settings where FP requirements at trader discourages less confident players to fight in a PVP encounter. That ties in to both the trader issue and the FP penalty from dying to a player being 50%, it encourages running away from fights or playstyles where squads will have an alt or a full time crafter sitting at trader or at base respectively. Right now the only use for FP is Trader and Lockpicking and the servers with the most PVP will have Trader FP requirements turned off. I don't see a world where they would remove shelter or sector spawns, for a couple of reasons, for one random spawns could be used over and over to get close enough to the desired sector which beats the point of removing sector spawns. Picture how hard it would be to clear a path through a minefield without sector spawns, you would need a ton of grenades and a plane. Removing shelter spawns would make beds useless, which I don't think is an option, in my opinion building a bed should require a flag, that would solve the current meta of building raiding beds and also slow down raiding parties where they wouldn't spawn right next to their car/weapon stash, it would also leave the option for servers to allow squads to build a raiding base if they desire to. I think there should be either a cooldown for random and sector spawn or/and a massive increase in price, if it means getting rid of or increasing permadeath threshold so be it.

I love survival, but the constant empty crates are annoying... I HATE safe zones. Markets... maybe. but it needs to be a VERY high risk area.

well, here is my opinion... I'm both PVP Raider and survivalist enhusiast, i play both on full pop servers and officials.. As a PVP player and raider, i think the FP system would work, but only if there is consistent ways to farm FP, as it was before, i agree that the trade system should be reworked to a more post apocalyptic and corrupt enviroment, buying food and etc shouldn't be easy.. , i also think that the raid is horrible as it is... twig and wood structure should be easily destroyed by a flamethrower for example, because surviving to other players is also surviving... i miss the axe, arrow and sledgehammer raids haha, a small advantage to defenders is tolarated in my opinion, that said... i suggest a bed should be harder to make, so... remove the old improvised bed, and allow the bed build only on your own flag, remove or make extremely rare the 3 numbers dial locks, bring the 2 number dial locks to business.... turn the golden locks rare making the player loot the padlocks As a Survivalist, i miss the experience of survival at all... as Casual Wardog said, there is several small additions that could improve the game a lot, like reworking diceases, have to boil water, contaminated food, i also believe the water and food are way to easy to acquire on the game... maybe it should be harder and the metabolism should be slower, so you get hungry and have time to search for food or water... on the end of the day, there are a bunch of good ideas, the devs ll never manage to catch them all, i hope 1.0 comes soon allowing local servers and modders, this should be awesome for the game i would love to play on a server with WW2 weapons only, modular tractor looking like a fucking tank haha, and this also means no p223 scope PS: imagine if we couldn't ever log of at SCUM... i mean... when we log off, the character stays on the world... say good bye to combat logging, say goobye to alt accounts, say hello to true survival experience, where you sleep on you bed, not sure if you are ever safe, the main SCUM identity crisis in my opinion, is that everyone is so worried about feeling safe... SCUM never was a noob friendly game before, old players were forged on fire and steel, the new ones don't want to loose their panties?

one thing i notice about high damage puppets with high health is, trying to melee more than one is ridiculous because even if you time things right, they will still rubberband and teleport, or you will strike through them like they are ghosts. this makes it literally unfair, as it's bugs you're fighting, not the game itself.

imo SCUM lost his identity since 0.75. I wonder, why the TV-Show with Famepoints come senseless. I thought, with fame i will get access to more survival blueprints. My char is not learning anything. My char evolve only with skillpoints without sense. I thought, it will be developed to be out there to survive against puppets, nature, poison, bacteria, infections. With the traders it destroyed the immersion. The playerbase, who decided to play as a trader, as a farmer, as an engineer and so on...there is no task anymore for players to build up a community. There is so much about to discuss, why the planned TV-Show is miles away from it´s implementation. And what´s about the quest? We didn´t saw anything about it yet. What will be the lore. What will be the content? I think, it took a wrong road. Hunting is a joke atm, cooking is senseless. It progressed the way to loot, loot, loot and then shoot, shoot, shoot. It gives no feelings about, why I am a prisoner, surviving on an island in a tv show....SCUM crashed it´s own philosophy. But you are wright. We need more PureScum Hardcore out there. The botpoisoned high-loot-battle-royale fast pvp shit also destroyed SCUM by manipulating the playerbase to forget, what the core of SCUM should be.

I would very much love there to be no money, and no fame. You have to find whatever you'd be looking for, and should you die, you respawn wherever the game tosses you over. Actually fame could be used as an access criteria for points of interest. That sounds reasonable to me. Just no targeted spawns and no shopping, and the game would be 👌

The vision from the original game has change way too much, from the original support pack you can find the GDD pdf file in the extra folders (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SCUM\Extras) that lays out the original game design. It's lost its survival essence. The bank, bankcard and traders have changed the idea of it being a Prisoner island you have been dropped on to survive. Give private servers the option of turning all of that off as an option, bring back the regular hunting and birds to find the meat you need. And yes Fame points for respawning. Money and gold serve no purpose in a survival type prison island.

Fame Point spawning. The credit cards, trading, raiding Scum feels like a weird Zombie GTA Battle Royal thing now. I think it's lost it's way and I'm not sure if that's because of Jagex, the devs trying to do too much too fast or what. I hope they can get back to a more survival feel or at least give players/server owners the options

The sole reason I first started playing 1700 hours ago was the lore. Theideagou were being watched and fame was awarded for game play was fascinating but has never been implemented. It's still glitch as feck and once you have decent gear and transport it's done, it's literally a loop once you get past fresh spawn and the initial build. Official servers now are either empty or full of huge squads cheating. I'll often jump into a new server as a freshie, run around try to survive but once I'm established... Meh. Without quests or a story arc it's dead

i love scum and its the go to game for me but the fame point thing is a good thing. i dont like that we have to use a fam point to play events and not get anything from it.but i get it. i wish you could get more fam points by playing the events as well as using the fame points to join the events. i love playing death match. but we dont really get anything out of it. its for fun but i would like to get something out of it at least fame ponts for using fame points. idk. getting money or some fame points from the events would be nice but we dont get anything out of it. we use 1 fame point to play the event but thats it. i guess its hard to explain and some one else could speak on it better than i. maybe instead of fame points we could get something for playing the events. like event point or something. getting something for doing the events would be nice. idk how to explain it. i hope some one knows what i am talking about and i hope they could speak on it better than i could. anyways love ya.

I've not played in such a long time, I thought the spawns were always fame points? what is this gold?? When I had the time to play it with my daughter we always liked to play it the survival way isn't that how its supposed to be played?? I thought the point of the game having this whole unique metabolism mechanic and heat/cold wetness stuff was to make it hardcore, so going by how the game is in its current state doesn't sound that great. We stopped playing as we just generally couldn't find a server where we wouldn't get grieved on and so are awaiting patiently we can host a dedi server on my own server pc. I do jump on single player now and again to look at some of the new features but didn't take much notice to this gold system thing I did wonder though why when I spawned I had a credit card lol
