Being a swede, I don´t mind Hope´s judgement. Swedish Football (soccer) teams, Gents and Ladies alike, are very well drilled in defensive tactics. When our Nationals meet a difficult team, we disarm them with defense and launch swift counter-attacks. Quite a few teams from small countries use that model, when needed. So what? Flashy attacking may cost a leaking defense, and a lost game.

Tbh, I still don’t see how the style of play is cowardly. Yes it’s defensive, but it’s common sense. If you can’t outscore your opponent, just stop them from scoring. That’s the other side of football. You have to score as many goals as possible, but also not let them score a lot on you. Plus, if your team can execute the counterattack well, then it will allow you not just prevent the other team from scoring, but also allow you to get a few goals.

Yup, that is how Italy won the 2006 WC, because of their defence type of playing, counter-attacks etc! Defending is as important as the attacking. You can score 3 goals, but then also let in 4 goals against you.

I feel like what she meant was they didn’t play to the best of their abilities and she didn’t know how or why they came out on top. And I feel like she could take losing cuz they’ve lost plenty of times but I guess she felt they were choosing to play easy and U.S was playing harder and they still lost but I don’t know I still love hope and I feel like some of her own teammates did her dirty.

the olympics is about bringing countries together and they take it very seriously. because people train their whole lives for it and its been held since the 1800s. she had her chance and showed bad sportsmanship and a lack of respect for the games. she should have been humbled.

So the women's team is "more successful" than the men? How many U15 JV boys teams have the Men's national team lost to, Hope? You're comparing Apples and Oranges when you demand "equal pay for the same job". You're not doing the "same" job. You're not even remotely close to the competitive level the Men's team plays at. You don't draw NEARLY the attendance the Men's team draws. Therefore, you don't draw the REVENUE the Men's team draws. It's cute that you play international soccer, but you should be able to beat domestic JV boys teams before you start demanding things. Let that marinate. I don't respect ANY organization that employs a person like Rapinoe to represent them.

The women could win world championships 20 years in a row and the men could lose every game by shutout scores during that same 20 years, but still, you say, the men are more successful because head to head they are better than the women. Actually, the men don't even have to play a game. The women could win world championships and the men could not play at all, and the men would be more successful. Got it.

They lose to adolescent boys! Put the mend team up against a JV boys team and watch what happens. It has nothing to do with the success they've had in their respective leagues. The fact remains, the women aren't playing at the same level as the men. Not even close. The end. Comparatively, NO ONE CARES about the women's team compared to the fan base of the men's team. @@Quillons1 Wow, lady, you have got some serious issues. Calm down. Nobody is claiming the women are better than the men head to head. Whether or not they can beat teenage boys is NOT the issue. Look, the best women tennis players cannot beat the men either (I have no idea if they would beat top high school male players) but they earn the same prize money for winning their respective divisions. I don't know all the ins and outs of the USWNT's case, but it seems there is conflicting claims on which division generates more viewers &/or revenue. Seems fair to me to factor that in no matter which way it turns out (women earn less or more based on share of the revenue they bring in). Also as I recall the mens team supports the womens team's claims so it's pretty unclear as to why some people like yourself are so heavily invested in opposing them. in your case it seems there may be a bit of self-loathing, am i right? as for your fantasy about transgender people walking in on you in the bathroom...trust me lady they are not interested in you.

Hope Solo's heart is in the right place. But, to make real changes to U.S. women's soccer you need to be inside and remain part in of U.S. women's soccer. Hope Solo's remarks concerning providing access to ALL U.S. girls and women not based on money is correct. To make it the upper tier of soccer at the college and professional levels, you need opportunity, not just money and priviledge access. The USWNT needs to reflect diversity in color. Remember. where did soccer originate?

It all costs a lot of money, money that not every family has. So soccer is becoming more and more a rich(er) people sport in the US...a sport for the privileged.
