Real talk though, if you feel like you can't do anything for yourself, think about one or two things you enjoy doing. Now branch out to the closest job from those that might get you a consistent job. Branch out further until you have a list of interests you might be genuinely inclined to do. And then - this is the hard part - you just gotta do it. If you're only good for playing video games and watching KZbin, try taking game design courses, or learn to make videos. It doesn't have to be crazy. Just something to get your foot in the door.

With every swing we seem to add another layer of irony and sarcasm to distance ourselves emotionally. Instead of revisiting sincere positivity, we lean into an ironic positivity like hopelesscore because it's safer, easier, less vulnerable than actually caring. And with the way the world is, it makes complete sense. Unfortunately, the end result of this maze of meta-ironic sarcasm is that sincerity becomes harder to access, not easier. We laugh at ironic motivational videos, but part of that laughter might be covering the fact that we really *do* wish they worked for us. I think it's worth acknowledging that even in a world where it feels unsafe to care about anything, many of us still crave something real, and only when we stop hiding behind these layers will we be able to connect again. Sorry for the novel, this is just a topic that really fascinates me.

I think we really just have to put the phones down sometimes and take the time to know ourselves. The scariest thing of all to many of us is that silence. But the more you face it, the less horrifying it becomes. You understand yourself a little better each time you stare that dread in its eyes. There's nothing to be afraid of.
