Hey man! Good to see you back on the tubes :) I totally agree with your points about ASMR being taboo, I dont think I could ever tell my friends about this in case they think im a freak or its some kind of weird fetish, even though i just use it to relax at night! Anywho great video as always and good luck with your future writing
@AndrewASMR10 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It's so strange, isn't it? I don't understand how people fetishize it when it's just used to relax and sleep. It's people talking low or whispering, or various sounds that produce tingles! Someday it'll be accepted. :P
@cecilyerker10 жыл бұрын
AndrewASMR I'm pretty sure it's because in the modern world, emotional intimacy is discouraged, even among women, and we haven't created a lot of safe places to appropriately express it, but ASMR is one of those safe spaces.
@uui21910 жыл бұрын
Cecily Erker I think also a lot of people stumbling across it find it erotic and they had no idea they would, thus assuming it's a fetish.

Yay you're back! I too have always wanted to write a book but can never settle on a plot so it doesn't go anywhere. And it is weird to describe ASMR to someone. Not that I would call it taboo per se, but I just don't want them to think "you're listening to some random person on the internet scratch and tap and book...?" lol As always, I look forward for more videos. The sound bits you did near the end were great. :)

You seem to have a lot of drive to write a book. I agree, when you keep something in your mind, it tends to change and if you put it down on paper, you can see a complete thought that you once had. I write journal entries and short stories on my computer and love looking back at them. I say, go for it! :)
@AndrewASMR10 жыл бұрын
You've nailed it. I'd love to have a clear, crystalised thought to look back on and not have it constantly change and alter. It seems to be easier said than done however! I don't have the willpower to stick it out and write more than a few paragraphs at a time.

I do find you very interesting, even when you feel you aren't. Your openness and vulnerability are intriguing. Not everyone can do that so honestly. If you write just as you speak, your book will be phenomenal. I would be one who would wait for your videos because your persona is relaxing. I love hearing about your thoughts and dreams. This may sound "weird" to you.... but I would sit by the pool on vacation just to listen to different voices, accents, and sounds. After all, vacations are about relaxation. No one realized they were being heard and it was stimulating. I've been told I should write, but I don't know that I would have a good story to tell. I have vivid dreams (when I manage to sleep) and when I explain them, my friends feel they would make excellent movies. LOL. I would love to illustrate a book, though. My expression is better through visual art. Anyway, I live across an entire ocean from you, and yet finding your channel has made my life a bit easier. I enjoy everything about your videos, pauses and all. Thank you.

I cant help it, but this is the first time of me watching one of your videos, and I just cant focus on your words cause your eyes are hypnotic. Forgive me. I'm a writer, not professional, but would love to be. I have so many book ideas, but trying to finish one I've been working on for a year. I've been disappointed with myself for not finishing once and for all. My characters are in limbo and I am eager to finish.
@cecilyerker10 жыл бұрын
I also noticed that you seem to be very hard on yourself. There's no need to be perfect all the time and you're designed to make your own unique contribution to the world. If people thank you for your videos, their gratitude is genuine and they want you feel appreciated and supported. If you love and accept your own imperfect self completely, you can be open to receiving love from others.
@AndrewASMR10 жыл бұрын
Cecily Erker Wow. Your comments were EXACTLY right. Spot on, in fact. You really nailed the whole thing. Haha I don't even know what to say to all that. I am trying my best to let people's genuine appreciation in and accept it completely. It's still strange to me however, I'm not used to it! :) I am going to try and do what you say also and accept my imperfect self and be perfectly happy with that!

+AndrewASMR I don't really know what ASMR is, despite my long interest in it, and why it brought me to these far parts of KZbin, nor why I care so much about it, but never has the been a time where I felt that the community from which the phenomenon spawned was not mutual between performer and audience. Though we may not know exactly what we do or why we do it, there is a common agreement about which purpose it serves. The real remedy for anxiety that we seek comes from knowing that we are part of something greater than ourselves. A benevolent breadth of human consciousness that shares the weight of adversity. Therefore, it is only in the best intention that we kindle contribution so that we may experience more. I think this is the right way to go. Please make more videos for us. :-)

I needed to leave another comment! I couldn't help myself but start feasting on your amazing videos. My biggest dream has always been writing a book, just like you. :::raises hand::: I was waiting for another video from you. :) I've had the same goal for a long time and recently thought to carry around digital recorder and make mention of my ideas so as to not lose them before the painstaking process of finding the right way/words in which to convey them...and second guessing and editing myself 1,000 times. I dunno if it's an Irish thing (grew up in Woodford when small) or what, but we've gotta work on the self deprecation...or self confidence rather, I suppose. Because self-deprecating we have down pat. :0) Also. No fair mentioning silly channel then not sharing! Demand (politely request) name of said channel. (Pretty please?) -Tree (Theresa)
@AndrewASMR10 жыл бұрын
HA! Oh thank you so much! RIGHT? Sometimes great ideas or phrases come to you and you scramble for something to write it down on. I know those feels. Self-deprecating I think really helps keep us grounded. It doesn't let us float too high and look down on others. We're down in the muck and well for us to have our head above the ground. Sure isn't that enough?! Haha I'll definitely consider linking it in one of my next videos. Or showing clips. I'm not ready just yet for those two worlds to meet! :D

If you got an idea for a novel, start writing it! :) a lot of people talk about doing it but not everyone can actually do it. Just remember there are no rules, being a writer doesn't involve communal apprenticeship, time practicing, or personal instruction when it comes to your story.

I don't think I've ever nodded in agreement so much during one KZbin video--about trying to write a novel, about being different kinds of weird to different audiences, about ASMR feeling taboo. I'm not sure this video did much for me in the way of ASMR, but only because I spent too much time laughing and thinking "I know where you're coming from, man" to fall asleep.
@AndrewASMR10 жыл бұрын
HA! That's excellent to hear! It sounds like I hit upon a few similar points we feel the same way about! Hahahaha I'll try not to be so humorous (I don't even think I'm that funny) next time. It'll just be me talking about knitting or something REALLY super mundane. Just. For. You.
@terrirobinson95509 жыл бұрын
I suggest you voice record all the ideas and events. You can certainly finish your book. I believe you do have the stamina however it sounds like your energy is being spent rewriting when you could be carrying on. Your determination is much too strong to hold you back. Good luck! 🍀

@markmchugh645210 жыл бұрын
I have a few points to make I think... Firstly I was CONSTANYLY checking for new videos from you like every Friday. It came to a point where I started thinking you died in a car accident, and I know it's weird how vivid this is gonna be, but by a red audi driving into you when it ran a red traffic light and then crashed into your left side and made you roll. Anyway, glad you're not dead. Secondly I too am an aspiring author. I think I mentioned before I'm doing a gap year and next year I'm planning to go study journalism just so I can have a basis on which to write and also kind of a job just to fund me on the sidelines while I'm waiting to make it big. I'm at almost 60 000 words now (40ish A5 pages) and I think I'm at chapter 4 or 5 now. My book is heavily inspired by both Lord of the Rings and Narnia so it's obviously a fantasy novel with a bit of humor (and I think every story needs atleast a bit of romance). And my first book is called the night has a thousand eyes. Thirdly I just really want to encourage you to write. My secret is not to write for other people (so to speak) but to write for your own enjoyment. I just write as it pops into my head, like a movie and I just keep on writing as it goes on. I rarely plan ahead and then when my movie is starting to get thin I take a break and edit the last chapter or so. But lately I've been struggling to find time to really write so thank you for motivating me again :D I needed it alot. I think I was meant to watch this video ;) And lastly I just want to say that your parables on writing are so amazing O.O I'm definitely quoting you sometime if that's ok :P also I would like to add that sometimes it's the normality of someone that makes them so interesting. The way you're so like me in a sense yet so far away is eerie in a good way to show just how alike yet unique all of us are in our own ways. I kinda find that comforting. And yes :P you do have an reassuring, relaxing voice and you're dialect isn't rough either (you use "soft" words so to speak). So thanks for the videos. Sorry about the lengthy comment. Just find it interesting to talk to you. Have a good one :) (and stay away from red audi's). Mark :)

I also think it fulfills a need for human contact for a lot of people that would otherwise be inaccessible. The video has no emotional barriers and you don't have to impress it. It's an indirect form of connection.

My theory was always that ASMR videos are somewhat taboo because they often show social forms of intimacy that people don't normally have access to often or get to experience on a regular basis because of the pace of modern life, except when they are in a relationship. ASMR can get extremely intimate which is interpreted differently by everyone's individual comfort level with the given ASMRtist.

Haha you're gaining momentum, sir. You're introspective and relatable, and those qualities will continue to grab and hold your audiences. On the book front, I think you have a brilliant opportunity, assuming you choose to embrace it, to profoundly effect your world view in a positive way. You stand the chance of losing everything you've never forced yourself to create, and I think you owe it to your not-too distant future self, to have written your book before it's his turn to lament having not written it yet.

Stay weird! it is working for ya! you my friend, are my twin Irish mirror. Its like every topic you covered here are the thoughts and the wheels and gears that run through my mind as well. you covered them all. 😂 you & I are true artists. we are the do-ers. we work in free flow. are you an air sign as well? airheads I sometimes say. lol I have to admit sometimes I think Im drowning in my ideas. but there good ones, viable, marketable ideas, oh but the lack of focus. motivation or steam as you call it. Your "book" is my album. Im a singer songwriter.... amongst other things Im also doing creatively, a childrens music show (#marysmusicaljourney) and maybe a book there two. oh and watercolor & craft artistian. hahaha I know, rediculous. We are so self conscious, our worst critics, self sabotagers & all of that. To me, Asmr is like kareoke. Its this opertunity to see the souls of the "performer" & to distract the soul of the "watcher" from some sort of discomfort of the nervous system. mental, physical or spiritual. tonights reason I stumbled on you ( thankfull) is chronic lyme, and you have helped me tonight. So I will end this ramble just wanting to tell you, that somewhere in America along the northeast coast @330 in the morning, lol, you did let your light shine, if only to me. doesnt hurt that your also a fiiiiine looking young man with a beautiful speaking voice. Have you thought of doing guided meditation vids? haha, well.. As your americantwin mirror, I must not be too shabby then either. 😉🌍much love & light to you my soul bro. keep on being that light and may it shine from you ever as brightly as you did here. love peace & chicken grease! ✌❤🌌☺
