Is it me? Or is it everytime an artist reaches a certain level, it's almost like humility follows naturally..

Oooo finally a nice interview with fresh and interesting questions! I finally didn’t get to hear the usual “any advice for the young musicians out there?” Congrats for this interview!

thanks Daniel! One of the core trademarks of my programme is to avoid those kinda questions at all cost. just a waste of everybody's time imho

I dig the "Oye Como Va" via 28:44. His approach to the kit is among the most unique of any drummer alive today. Horacio Hernandez is a very important drummer; we're lucky to have him.

this is recent-- really pleased with big band material Mr. Hernandez.

Playing clave against each other from upper and lower limps I would suspect requires years of dedication I really can appreciate HH approach I pray that he also discipline with his diet and learns from another legend Giovanni Haldigo

Never mind the haters Phil, this interview is pure gold! Thank you!

thanks guys -- yeah, I don't really mind the haters since they only admit their lack of humility and openness to other forms of art. the things that let you become a better version of yourself are the things you don't know yet, right? but here it happened so quickly after the release it was more like as if some jerk waited behind the corner just to leave his stinky mark like if it was a polarizing drummer like Portnoy... anyway it doesn't really matter since youtube's new algorithms are the real problem for me right now, not some douchebag giving a thumbs down....

Thanks a lot for this and Sean Reinert's interview!!! Been following you almost since you started and keep loving the work your doing. Keep it up!!! If you feel like listening to something new and kinda weird, check out my band. It's a mix of death/thrash & latin jazz (including conga, sax and trumpet...), maybe you'll like it, maybe you'll hate it... who knows!? Cheers from Mexico City! kzbin.info/www/bejne/oYfMYp16rr1rbdE

the key is the clave, then you improvise over it, then you don't know the fkn code to hack that password! dmn! kukiki kukuki kuku kiki kuku!!! I mean, they're always unclear with their answers, not only he but any latin drummer you ask questions about latin drumming... groove, ok, but I sincerely don't understand advanced latin drumming and I'm afraid they neither understand what they're doing, just 4 way independence "improvisando sobre la clave asere" ¬¬
