I've been using my Hori Truck System for about a week now and have it on a rig. And I must say what a different it makes. It definitely adds to the realism and immersion and is well worth the price. I've been looking forwards to finally seeing user-reviews on this product. The main point i'm getting from this is that it might be better not using shoes on the pedals, to get a bit more feel for the setup. The rotation is indeed pretty accurate, you might want to adjust the ingame wheel rotation simulation to 1800 as well (think it's in the gameplay option), and the sensitivity bar to the right, the non-linearity all the way to the left. (i saw you driving straight, with the hori almost pointed 90 degrees to the left... which i think might be the linearity. Thanks for the review though, much appreciated, taking it slow and with your good microphone/camera setup, the quality comes across very well. The Shifter actually sounds alot more solid than i expected, seeing i only saw one other user review, and just the Ets2 guys testing it before it even got in the consumers hands. And nope, not buying it, as my setup is already complete: DD-wheel with a max of 2160degrees rotation, heusinkveld sprint pedals and th8rs shifter with almar SKRS shifter... Well, basically set up for racing, with the additional trucking addons through the years... now if Hori wouldhave built this thing 6 years earlier, i would probably have bought it. Thanks again for the video, enjoyed that.

It's a huge step up from a logitech or thrustmaster wheel with a makeshift H-shifter. If you're just starting out, this is only a little more expensive than you piecing everything new. But, if you don't have the funds, getting a used wheel will do the job very well.

I saw this wheel set up recently and it peaked my curiosity. Thank you for your honest review. I've noticed more and more wheels, button boxes, gear shifters and handbrakes are being manufactured specifically for Europe/American truck simulator drivers. It took these manufacturers long enough to realise how popular these two titles are. With regards to this setup, the pedals look really cheap and nasty and I'm still using the timeless logitech G27. For me. Well I built my own rig. I bought the indicator/wiper stalk set manufactured by Obokidly, which fitted straight onto the logitech G27 with ease. It has self cancelling indicators and you have the option of buying upgrades which includes a retarder lever, start button and cover. In my case I didn't like the original logitech wheel, but why would I, it is the stupidest size for trucks. I could have bought a larger wheel off ebay, but I decided to fit a wheel out of a Volvo XC90. I used a router to remove some of the aluminium from it's centre and after drilling a couple of holes, it fitted straight onto the aluminium hub on the obokidly indicator/wiper stalk kit. I ran some wires through the small hole on the steering shaft and after a few days of soldering and pulling my hair out, I fitted buttons and bulbs so that buttons fitted to the volvo wheel control the cruise control and radio. I also built my own switch panel. KZbin video to follow.

1:50 thats actually super awesome.. i use a T150 with a tablet set up as dashboard and emulating the controls through simhub and then setting in all in game was a really long and tedious process which i messed up numerous times. Having the controls work out of the box is really amazing. Also 650 usd might seem a lot for a belt or gear driven wheel, but the "same" DD setup from moza, R5 with extra pedal, tsw truck wheel and stalks that go under the wheel is 1200 usd without a shifter which is another 180 usd and it still does not have a table clump with which you could angle the wheel. What i am afraid of is the pedal set and the shifter. If this wheel would work with my t3pa pedal set and i could take the shifter off and just use the button box because i already have a modded th8a shifter.. i would be the happiest person this upcoming christmas.

Thanks for the video. I have a quick question about the gearshift. I'm surprised that it's designed like the one in the car. Shouldn't a truck only have 4 gears + reverse + LL? Also, would 1st gear be where 3rd gear is in a car? Then you shift up to 4th and then you can shift up with the lever and back into 1st so that you are in 5th. Furthermore, all these 10 gears are 1x low and once high, resulting in 16 gears. I hope that was understandable... Is this also changeable so that I don't have to shift 1-6 like you did in your video? Thanks for your feedback

Must be awkward to adjust the view with the one on the wheel if you're backing up with the wheel turned. Ever since I went from a controller to a G29 I've been annoyed about having to reach for the mouse to adjust the external camera.

@@DONphantasmoI have been lusting after a Moza TSW R9 setup which also became available recently. The comments on one of its reviews mentioned the Hori offering. In my mind Hori seems to win out on the quantity of buttons front, looses on the modification for other purposes and adjustments fronts and its up in the air on the build quality front. Judging simply from videos and pictures it seems Hori is mostly plastic while Moza is mostly metal. Whats under the hood is more important to me than the outer covering. A good example of that is the Thrustmaster Warthog joystick. Its metal on the outside and a plastic gimbal on the inside. That's not what I expect from a system costing over $500 USD. Hori wins on price however I am willing to pay a premium for good quality and longevity. So I would say in summary , sigh and arrrgh ;-).

The wheel itself looks to be a nice quality. Does the leather feel soft (realistic), or is it more solid feeling like a G29? Obviously, for the price, $650 is a lot, especially as it’s gear driven as opposed to Direct Drive. But for truck sims, which this is for, I don’t think DD is really needed. I’d imagine if they went that route, the price would have been even more excessive! The real let down however is the pedals. Not only is the base tiny, but there is no grip to the floor whatsoever. Surely someone in the design team must have thought a completely flat plastic base is unsuitable - at least have some grips to create some sort of friction!!! Overall though, it’s good to see this and Moza’s attempt of opening up the market for this type of wheel. Hopefully it encourages more to be made in the future!

I work in oil and gas in Northern Canada and I am middle aged. I have seen older truck drivers in their 70's who deliver chemicals for us. They do it as a retirement job as it is not such a demanding job and they don't have a boss standing behind them at work all the time. Also, they can often do it part time. I am wondering, does using a truck simulator and the hardware in this video help you to learn how to driver a commercial truck before you learn on the road or is it really not that useful? I'd like to know one way or the other. Although I'd like to continue working where I am now, I wouldn't mind getting my licence and maybe prepare for a post-retirement job. Also, I word 12 hour shifts, two weeks on, two off. I have two weeks off every month. If I got my licence, I could possibly work part time and gain some experience before I decide to do it on a more regular basis. What are you thoughts? Constructive comments are greatly appreciated! Man... That's one of the best questions I have had to answer. Here's my honest answer. I started playing this game for fun. I learned things like, how to take wider turns, how to back up and park, etc. Things that aren't the same as driving a regular automobile. When I started getting my Commercial Driver's license, my instructor was AMAZED on how "quickly I picked everything up". He would ask me how I knew how to navigate easily, back up, and make the turns. He said I picked it up much quicker than most of his other students. I explained to him that I play ATS and he laughed at me, and said "NO WAY". After a lot of explaining, he was pleasantly surprised. So, short answer is yes, it will help you a little bit. Similar to having a Flight Simulator and a yoke/throttle/rudders at home. It's not the exact same, but it will keep your muscle memory trained. I hope this helps.

I feel that we should wait for the launch of the second or third generation products. It might be the best time to buy. Avoid dark in-game situations that make it difficult to see how you interact with the game content. p.s I use Google Translate, please forgive me if the meaning is wrong.

I had this on pre-order but just recently cancelled my order, this video has confirmed I made the correct decision for me I think. No grip on the pedals and the cable coming out the back so if you jam something behind it could get damaged was a slight issue but the big one is accessing the buttons behind the gear stick looks too hard especially when the gear stick was pushed forward. Maybe wait for a V2 and hope they fix these problems.

I have the same issue with my old Driving Force GT. I ended up making a wooden bracket that braces itself against the wall. Cable has somewhere to go and it holds it at my preferred pedal distance

I have the Xbox wheel and pedals setup and it works perfectly. Looking right and left with the directional pad is easy but I just use my web camera to do the same thing because it tracks my head movement. I turn my head slightly to the left and it looks left. More to the left and your head is out of the driver side window. Turn slightly to the right to see the right side view mirror and so on. Look straight forward and you’re looking right at the road. I use my keyboard for other functions and map basic switches to the steering wheel buttons like cruise control, starter, park brake, lights, windshield wipers, signal lights, high and low beams and other functions. You should really look into using the webcam for head tracking. It makes things a lot easier. Great review.

I may also make videos about my weird likes, like scooters, cars, and motorcycles. Longer ones that involve maintenance, riding, exploring, etc. Or flying my PPG. But, like I said, I lack the knowledge, know-how and professional acuity to get it done (at this moment).

Yeah, it has some grit to it. Just like my logitech and my thrustmaster wheel. So, I'm kinda used to it. I think a DD would be much better, but also much more money. Most people are going to be OK with the chunkiness given the "lesser" price tag.

I have it with whatever the stock setting are. Which are confusing a little. First is left and up (where R would be), Third is left and down. Reverse is all the way to the right and down. I think it is set up like a sports car. I know it'll upset a lot of people. But, I don't care enough to re-map it. Which would be very easy, but I won't bother.

Cool toys and it would be even cooler if devs added an option to hide virtual steering wheel on the screen, so that on a big screen like a TV you only have the dashboard, window and everything else, but not the image of the steering wheel, since you have your own irl. UPD Judging by this video - "Picking Up Passengers From The Bus Station | ETS 2" it should already be available ATS, since in ETS 2 people play exactly like that.

I have the Logitech G920 with the H-shifter and was fine till the buttons on the wheel stopped working. I think it a loose wire, because sometime the light about the "X" button comes on when I turn the wheel and the buttons work. The Force Feedback works the pedals work and so does the H-shifter. I have been looking at the Hori wheel since it was announced but it is around CA$800.

That sucks about your wheel, hopefully you can get it fixed or even just replaced! But, this is great for the trucking games, but NOT for anything racing...
@billesh552 ай бұрын
Honestly, thank you for this. I've held off of pre-ordering this because I was concerned of so many variables with the system. One thing I would love to know is, Do you find the angle of the wheel to be too upright, or just about right? As a UK based Truck Driver, the wheel just looks too upright with todays trucks to be comfortable in my opinion but I'd love to know your opinion on it.
@DONphantasmo2 ай бұрын
I have driven many busses and large vehicles (in the Military), and this is typical. The wheel is pretty darn close to horizontal. So, this mimics that angle decently. I'm not too worried about perfection. I am just enjoying the experience so far.

If youve actually done research its not expensive, ive seen trucker setups that just for the wheel and the base its a few grand alone, not including shifter, pedals ect so all of this for less than a grand is actually really cheap. It’s obviously not direct drive, and that’s the only reason I haven’t got one already. I have T500RS which I was planning on replacing with a Fanatec when it broke down, but it’s still going strong after many years! When I saw this with it’s large wheel and steering column controls I started rethinking. However, I feel I need to actually have a go to see how the FFB really holds up. I’ve got TrackIR, so that’ll free up a few controls, though with the amount it has, i don’t think I’ll need them. Now I just need to find somewhere I can try one out! Shame we’ve lost so many high street specialist shops.

I think for what it is, a 600$ full set up, it's good enough to do the job. Specially in a "truck" simulator. I don't think they would ever put that money into it, since that will drive the cost up. People are complaining about the 600$ price tag already. If they had DD and a better FFB motor, and maybe FFB on the shifter, too, plus much better pedals, this thing would be 1500$ easy. Most people would never pay anything close to that.

G'day mate, not trying to have a go at you but your settings are out a bit, you can tell by how much your turning the wheel and how much the in game steering wheel turns they don't match and you don't need to use the clutch after you move off just like IRL, I would readjust your settings and try again and you will find that the wheel will feel so much better. The only thing I don't like about this is the buttons behind the shifter are quite hard to get to.
