@@RetroGamingUnited I had a CSL DD, V3 pedals, handbrake, shifter, frame... Mostly for drifting, but sold it when I moved. TBH I don't have room for it in my new place, But AC Evo honestly sounds iike the game I've been dreaming about for the last two or three years. I honestly daydreamed about going to some big publisher and trying to sell them on the following idea for a game: a sim with crazily detailed cars, all with fully interactive interiors, all speccable from the dealership. The cars would be mostly available only as individual DLC. There'd also be real driving roads, like the Amalfi Coast and the Tranfaragasen(?), and they'd be mostly available only as DLC. I thought it'd be a license to print money and you could sell individual cars for insane amounts as DLC. I was thinking that given how much people pay for individual plane/tank/etc model DLC in sims like MS Flight Sim and other games(some devs regularly charge up to a hundred quid for really detailed fighter jet DLCs in their games) that any clever publisher would be able to charge stupid money for a fully ineractive Bugatti Chiron, or a GT3 RS, speccable from the factory, with interactive-everything in the cabin. But it turns out Kunos wanted to do the same idea, only better; ie. without ripping the customer off with individual car DLCs(at least I hope they won't), AND you can customise the cars with bodykits, which I'd never dreamed any sim would ever let us do. AC Evo seems too good to be true, but at the same time seems like it will actually deliver. I just hope drifting is there form day one - ie. there's at least one car that's built for going sideways in the early access.

I think they intriduced the new, stricter approach to modding specifically with consoles in mind. The first AC barely made an impact on console because modding was impossible. This new AC has a much more streamlined, strictly monitored approach which should mean that the modding scene can be curated officially, so that consoles can just access Kunos's selection, AND the worries about illegal asset grabs disappear, and Sony and MS are much more bothered by that kind of thing than PC makers. Whether this new approah to modding is a good thing or not? That's still an open question - but it'll definitely make AC Evo more of a console-friendly sim.

@@AdamsOlympia To me it seems that focus is not "more on the sim" it's 100% sim. Kunos have said that this open world content will NOT compromise in any way their trademark physics realism, which is absolute priority 1 for them in any situation. They specifically said in ADAC interviews, that it would be pointless for them to make a simcade, since their whole company and reputation was built on hardcore realism. That is what they are known for People have just this weird connection in their minds, like open world would automatically shift physics towards simcade (I understand where this sentiment is coming from, but when you look at it closely, it actually isn't logical). The gameplay elements of course may be a little "gamey" like "deliver this pizza under 3 minutes to earn 5000 credits" to give some reasons to drive fast (= dangerously, which isn't very realistic or responsible goal in real life, you would quickly get in trouble with the police, which I don't believe are part of EVO) among traffic. @hamingnu6610Ай бұрын
This is why I'm kind of leaning on the idea that cross-compatibility between AC Evo and AC for tracks won't be too far-fetched of an idea. It's just that a lot of community-made AC tracks are now suuuper outdated-looking, but I bet there'll still be a way to import the Shutoko Revival Project and such into AC Evo even if the track details and such aren't going to be as good as what had already been prepared by Kunos. Otherwise it's no longer a sandbox if we can't import tracks. I mean in AC on its own you saw a wide variety of shitty tracks and suuuper high quality tracks by the community, so I imagine it might be fine for AC Evo to have a variety of tracks as well: the super good laser-scanned tracks from Kunos, then the outdated but still higher-quality tracks we have gotten in AC from the community.

And especially if Kunos can get even remotely close to a weather simulation system like MSFS has, then having variable weather across a map will become a reality. AC Evo is already the most exciting driving game in a long time, even above Solar Crown. I cannot wait to see what it looks like a few years down the line with the care and quality Kunos has already shown.

Yes!!!🎉🎉 I actually hope that the menu system is inbedded in the open world, so lets say you wanna do online racing, you actually gotta drive your car to that building in the open world, another place for customization, another olace for garage and so on. If its done correctly, its gonna be amazing!

It looks really cool, but is the entire game focused on the Nurburgring and the surrounding area? Like it seems almost stupid to ask, but no other tracks?

there obviously will be other tracks. Kudos is italian. A game without Monza is a sin for italian devs

Having started my apprenticeship at the ring this year is already crazy, however I always saw this area as "home" as well, since I come from the region west of it. Seeing them drop such a bomb of a project is nothing but mindblowing. I don't know how to put it in words, the possibility of literally burning up and down my daily commute, visiting my actual house in Adenau and just cruising around my area with friends from around the world in AC is just completely unreal, I am still trying to wrap my head around the whole situation. Jesus christ. 🙃
@FlowMichaelАй бұрын
I would imagine that it is more of a euro truck style map where only the roads are drivable and so not truly 1600 square km of playable area (whereas like fh5 would have a true 1600 of map you could drive on) but this is still sick

One other sim that has a 16 km2 open world map is BeamNG with Italy lol. Tho you could argue it has uneven coast, so some parts of it are just water, so technically the usable area is probably a bit less Edit: ok it's actually 1600, wow
@vix121Ай бұрын
16 km2 vs EVO's 1600 km2 map...big difference bro
@xenoyparxiАй бұрын
@@vix121 admittedly I have misinterpreted that number, 1600 is insane, that's 40x40 km, tbh I'm still kinda debating if it's too much of an absurd number but I guess we will see in the final game lol

All I want to see is a game that, while not necessarily complete, functions as users expect. My micro transaction sense is tingling from hearing about “numerous local businesses” “offering their services in game”, and particularly “not enough in game currency”. I can appreciate a fast track option for those who want limited access features but don’t have the time to actually acquire them through gameplay; however, when it actively limits any real gameplay that’s a problem.
@thomasisreadyАй бұрын
they went out of their way to state in the very first interview they did that AC EVO "Will have absolutely NO MICROTRANSACTIONS"
@dakaodoАй бұрын
I totally understand your concerns, but that's only true for large publishers that you may have been traumatized by (EA, Microsoft, etc). I've seen players voice similar grievances about AAA shooter games, RPGs, etc. But it's not the only option in an era when technology is lowering barriers to game development so precipitously. It is entirely possible to sell a game with an open world experience with no microtransactions or even DLCs. I'm coming at this from having played the original AC and BeamNG. BeamNG has its own open world game element in early development, and doesn't have anything like the budget that a studio controlled by a big publisher would have, but for 10 years BeamNG has never sold DLC or in-game transactions. In the open world, you free roam, do missions, earn credits, and buy the cars and parts you want. The entire time, BeamNG's model has been "we'll keep developing the game for free for all owners, as long as people keep buying the game." One purchase ever, period. (caveat being that BeamNG was initially created as an obsessively detailed soft body physics simulator, not an open world game.) Like Beam, Kunos is similarly not a huge studio or publisher, but Kunos has previously used paid DLC marketing strategies. I think there's room to hope that AC Evo won't be nickel-and-dimed to death like a AAA studio game, but I think it's unlikely it'll be as pure as BeamNG is in pricing strategies. I've only played small to mid sized indie games for the past decade as part of my silent boycott of AAA business practices. I enjoy greater flexibility, dev responsiveness, loyal and active communities, supported modding, and no predatory pricing strats. YOu can too, if you find a small/mid indie game that suits your interests. :D

1600 square kms Jimmer is 40 kms long by 40 kms wide or possibly 20 kms wide by 80 kms long. I read that equals the largest area in a previous game. Still awesome to be able to drive to the track, maybe make a tire change or something and do a track day with your friends then drive home (so long as you live in the area. What would be additionally awesome is if modders can expand that area.

Real-world locations built 1:1 in driving - or any - games are my absolute jam. The TDU series came so close to delivering something great like that but fell short every time, especially because of the GaaS stuff. With this open world engine I wonder if it'll be possible to port those maps into evo and enjoy them properly? I wonder how long it'll be before we can get the whole world replicated to a level of detail that would allow us to drive through it?
