Horizon Forbidden West But Super Effective Attacks Only

If anyone is wondering why they can’t see while watching the video, it’s because of my misunderstanding of bitrate. Unfortunately, just after I began recording clips for this video I had to reinstall windows at the cost of all my applications because my laptop did a funny. In consequence, I had to reconfigure my OBS settings, which I couldn’t remember, and used variable bite rate for recording the visuals which does not work well in a gaming setting. But I did do some research and fixed it, so the next video should be crispy 🥖

Honestly, skill comes second to weaponry in Horizon. You can literally destroy a slaughterspine in 3 shots with the right setup. But the best thing you can do in a fight is keep control. - Utilize tools like the rope caster to make a 2v1 into a 1v1 or smoke bombs to reposition or cancel an enemy attack - Try new things with each weapon and see what strategies flow best with you, for example, the shredder gauntlet has incredible range so you can cheese the heck out of everything with it (everything is cheeseable) - It also helps to avoid putting yourself in bad situations, for example, in this video I put myself out in a corner against the apex thunderjaw despite me knowing about its red laser attack (whatever that’s called) and would’ve probably died if it wasn’t for the acid. What I should’ve done was play around the pillars in the area for cover. - Additionally, find those sweep spots where machines can’t really hit you: a slaugherspine can’t do anything to you other than easy to dodge tail attacks when your close behind it; a rollerback’s most dangerous attack is behind it so stay in front or to the sides. - ELEMENTS EXIST!!! Purgewater makes machines like clawstriders and slaughterspines 90x easy to deal with. Some of them have secondary effects that slap really hard. - Valor surges - And finally, learn some timings. Don’t be afraid to go on a 100% save (or any high level save) and just practice dodging. You can also play on lower difficulties if you want to practice dodging some more dangerous attacks such as the slaughterspine’s beam of death, but it’s best to just use a smoke bomb for those attacks… There are tons of things that I can say and I’m sure you already know many of those things, but this game becomes trivial once you start using everything it gives you-at least that’s how I feel.

Great video idea (and execution of said idea). It boggles my mind how great forbidden west can be-yet how godawful some of the gameplay mechanic decisions can be. The elemental damage gameplay aspect of Forbidden West is a complete joke-especially on the harder difficulties.

I definitely agree. I know adding the special rules for each element for the challenge was a funky decision on my part, but I originally did some of the challenge without the rules and it was rough. I wouldn’t say every element in Forbidden West was poorly designed as shock, frost, purgewater, and acid are all really cool with unique mechanics that make up for their low damage, but the others are just disappointing.

@@EpicGamerNico yea I was oversimplifying a bit but I agree. The thing that frustrates me is when I try to play the game the way THEY tell me to play, I just wanna get a dev to sit beside me and tell them to explain what’s goin on here. Seriously, use fire on a snap maw and see where that gets you. Use acid on a thunderjaw and watch your next birthday roll around before that thing is dead. Adhesive? I’ve used that on sunwings before just to watch them FLY away lmao…. Its just so pathetic sometimes 😆. Whoever oversaw balancing in forbidden west legit needs to get replaced cuz there are some AWESOME ideas in this game, but they are just dragged down by the actual implementation.
