Yeah he should have stated to it. Granted that takes a wile to get. As he should have pointed out that some side quests or the lack of being a quest can auto give her a skill point when done. Tall Necks. Most,but not all of the whole game map gets revealed by them.

It was pretty far in the skill tree. I personally didn't find it useful. A better late game upgrade I definitively abused was to call a ride wherever, whenever. If there was tip that I could've used to help me in my initial game, it would've been definitively to be consistent with the _ropecaster._ I only discovered its practicality on my game+. SMH at myself but then, it's part of the fun to learn stuff on your own without any spoiling tips, even if they can improve the game play.

My counter tips: 1. The game DOES tell you about the Cauldrons. There's a lady in the Nora village that tells you about them. She says that she learned her lesson because of the scars on her face. 2. Don't say that Fast Travel isn't unlimited, then proceed to say it is if you get the right stuff. Straight up, until you have the items you need to purchase the Golden Fast Travel Pack, you shouldn't do much Fast Travel anyways, tbh. There's a lot to explore, and therefore, a lot to collect. 3. You CAN remove mods. It's a skill called Tinker. It's under the Forager skill tree. When you get better mods, take the ones you Tinkered off, and sell them. Shards are easy to burn through, after all. 4. The maps you can purchase from different vendors are for those areas nearer to the merchant. (So check every merchant for a map set.) They also do not give the exact location of the collectibles. The give you a radius of where it will be. Best thing you can do is go to the area, then R3 to scan around til you find it. Vantage Points and Banuk Figures can be difficult to find. 5. Not everyone is stealth-oriented. If you're not, do a little research on a set of armor you can get in some ruins by collecting power cells. This armor takes some decent fall and melee damage. 6. I agree that you need to gather consumables as much as possible, especially in the beginning. But after awhile, learn what you burn through the most, and gear yourself to pick up more of those things. I don't use antidote much, so I don't need to keep 200+ Corruption Glaze Root. Yeah, I could sell it, but I'd like the keep those spaces open for things I do need, like Wire and Ridgewood. (However, you should always make sure your medicine pouch is full, and you have a decent amount of meats to create health potions.) 7. As far as things to sell or trade to merchants go, sell as much as you can (unless you can craft with it). If there is something specific you want, create a job to go get the Glinthawk Heart, etc. you need. Don't hoard that kind of stuff because it piles up quickly. 8. Going back to the Skills, really take a good look at them, and prioritize what you will need for your gameplay style. I am not particularly stealthy player, so I tend not to choose those skills first. One thing you should probably get early on is the Concentration. Slowing things down makes them easier to hit in most cases. 9. Don't underestimate the power of any of the weapons in any situation. You may not think you'll ever use a sling or a rope caster, but tying those suckers down and using harvester arrows to get what you need, helps out tremendously.

I know it's late but I feel the need to reply to some of these... 1) Sure, an NPC mentions them but that can be easily missed. Nothing else in the game really encourages you to seek them out 4) I only ever bought one set of collectible maps and it revealed everything across the entire map. 5) That armor is unattainable until near the end of the story. It's really good but it's not something you'll be able to rely on for much of the game 7) I tend to hoard more stuff... you have to find a balance, and keep trying to upgrade your resource pouch heh 9) Ropecaster is good for taking some enemies out of the fight. You have to hit them with enough ropes to turn the blue circle full and into a dark one with a white outline. Then, as long as you don't do any significant damage, it will be out of the fight for like 90 seconds, giving you some space to fight other things. Plus, you can override it if you've unlocked that.

Golden Fast Travel pack is very expensive at 2000 shards + trinkets on hardest difficulty compared to 50 S at lower diff! I was blown away by the difference. I had to grind a bit to get it but the money is made back very quickly with the frequent fast travels in this very respectable game.

A few other tips. *1)* If you can't find your first Cauldron just see *Dral* in _Mother's Crown_. *2)* <a href="#" class="seekto" data-time="371">6:11</a> - When scanning if you see a red Cauldron symbol, you *cannot* override that machine; if it's blue, you *can* override it (intricate detail note: each machine is stamped with the cauldron symbol of the cauldron you need to complete in order to override that machine) *3)* The potions, resistance potions, and traps bar sucks (too much to scroll through to find a specific potion). You can use the weapon wheel (L1) and choose a potion with time slowed down. *4)* Datapoints will show up as cube icons on your navigation bar when you're close to one (it won't make finding them all easy, but it will help you spot them a little easier and save you from having to constantly scan every 10 steps). *5)* *Handling* = draw speed. *Tear* = aids in parts removal. *Ice* = increased damage. *Fire* = Makes machines go a little crazy for a short time. *Shock* = does what you think shocking would do to machines. *Corruption* = turns machines against each other (it's poison to Aloy) There are many more but those are the ones I wish I knew when starting out. EDIT: Go into _Settings_ and turn the HUD to *Dynamic*. Your welcome.

Just got it over the holidays. I would add some other tips i found out: - It pays to pick up quests early, they are often on the way to the main quest. - Wait until you have about 7 or 8 points polled before upgrading the first time, think on the long run. Pay attention to the links in the skill tree, its not linear as it suggests. - the first time you approach a new merchant, there is always a free sample treasure box, take it.

at the very beginning of the game, after the trials you wake in a temple. make sure you find the power cell hidden in the temple because once you leave, you seemingly are locked out of that area for the majority of the game. I'm still currently playing, with about 76 % completed and still locked out of mothers heart. these power cells unlock a very powerful armor that is found in a bunker close to the start of the game. there are 5 power cells, and they are not easy to find.

It takes a while, but I believe that getting the ancient armor is worth the time. It will help you preserve your health in the tougher battles. And if you have the frozen wild dlcs, it is your best friend there. Even though Aloy complains about being cold. It keeps you safe, for the most part.

I love when developers add fast travel to a game as a convenience to the player, but not without a price. Whether it is strategic placement, discovery as a prerequisite, or in this case craftable packs. That is just good game design. In something like Skyrim, you can zip to any place you have been to all willy-nilly at no cost to you, feels a little like cheating. Even ESO had way shrines in specific locations. Plus it shows good game design when they can incorporate it organically into the gameplay and lore.

Another tip: You can make overrides last indefinitely with the skill tree. I was able to do so (after already snagging essentials like stealth kill and lure) pretty early on. Early on meaning right after I got the ability because I had saved up a couple level-ups

Another hint you missed. If an enemy has an exterior weapon, shoot it with a tear arrow. You can pick up some powerful guns this way (Thunderjaw launchers are your friend!)

If i may add some tips too it. 1 read all the dialogues, there are some awesome background info in it that you need to understand the story. 2 collect data points, it seems dull, but at the same reason, a lot has happened before the world came to its end. 3 keep your medicine full, it your best friend in heavy fights when you have lots of health in stock. 4 keep in mind that traps and wiretraps will stay even before a cutscene, for example when you fight the demon that attacks from the door, you can trap the door before the cutscene as everything is still normal and you have all the time in the world too make your plans. Try put 36 traps and 20 wires before the door, that demon will not know what killed him, so funny... 5 override the machines at the cauldrons, all those bosses have running small machines before you release the shield from the bosses. Its way easier when those small machines fight at ur side fighting those bosses. 6 don't ever skip any location in a room, path or field. There are so many of these areas to be founded with valuable loot, like those energy cells. 7 don't put to much valuables on one statistic, they have a cap and once reached you don't get the value from it. so combine stealth with melee/range defense etc. 8 go directly too the frozenwilds for the Over powered weapons and outfits, at level 30 you can get there and with new game + its easy to gain extra modifications. Also it enoys silens lol 9 Use stealth in water, for me its an easy way too get out of trouble, jump in the deep water and go stealth, it can save your life. 10 Use the rope weapon too slash those angry birds, they are a pain to kill with arrows. with rope its a whole lot easier.

Should have added to not open your boxes until you need what's inside. You can carry an infinite amount of boxes but can only carry a limited number of resources so by leaving the boxes closed you can carry more resources and only open the box when you need what's inside.

I would add no 11, for when you're half way through. Get the Tinker perk. This lets you swap in and out modifications to your weapons and armor, rather than placing them and losing them if you want to put in a new one. With Tinker you can swap mods in and out, depending on the weakness of the enemy.

*Lure Call* and *Stealth Takedown* are your first bet to end a fight quickly and without too many wounds. When that fails or is not an option, getting out of *dodge* is very important, and using elemental status, like Electricity from: Tripcaster, Traps, Slingshot, Warbow to disable the Machine for a while, so you can go in and use *Critical Hit* (needs skillpoints) seems like the second best option. After that, maybe a Ropecaster to tie it down, remove armor, parts, etc. Obviously using Fire Arrows on that Blaze canister is tempting, but it can backfire on you when suddenly 10 enemies look at you with aggressive status and your stealth is suddenly gone :D

using a sharp shooter bow with the arrows that allow you to blast off components is a great way to get extra crafting materials or heavy weapons

Small tip: When a machine is under a specific elemental timed effect (burning, frozen, stunned electrically, under your green corruption), then hitting it with more of that specific effect from one of your weapons is wasted. You cannot lengthen the existing timer or add any more damage or other effect of that specific running type until the timer runs down completely and ends that effect. Don't waste shots in this situation; change to another type of weapon immediately (for example, if a machine has been frozen under timed effect, switch to, say, fire arrows to start ramping up that timer clock until it kicks in -- when it kicks in, it will immediately end the freeze and start the machine timed burning, even if the freeze timer has not yet run out). This does not count hitting the machine in a spot where it has its own internal weak-spot with that specific type of effect, which will always cause their effect plus damage if set off by a hit from one of your weapons -- exploding blaze tanks on/inside some machines, for example, can cause a massive burst of fire damage to that machine on top of any being done by a fire timer already running down from you previous fire-arrow hits. You have to get experience on when to keep firing a specific type of weapon and when to switch weapons for other effects. Also, damage (the thing that kills a machine) is separate from corruption or stun effects. Only freeze and fire do both their effect and damage, too. So stop firing corruption or stun weapons at a target when you want to kill it NOW, rather than waiting for it to fall under the timed corruption or stun so that you can hit it later with weapons when it is not attacking you. Sorting this out also takes experience. Some weapons do more than one kind of effect -- damage plus stun, for example, so using a stun arrow against an already timed stunned machine may do some damage from that, just that its stun effect is now wasted and a pure damage weapon would now be more useful. Just remember that more of an effect in this game does not mean better results in many cases.

When you finish a slaughter in this, ALWAYS keep the items, especially the machine hearts, those are used primarily for buying late game/NG+ armour, NG+ armour is "adept" rank, the best of the best

The tinker ability allows you to reuse mods, and I highly recommend getting the elite takedown ability as fast as possible.

Remember to collect the power cells if you want the best armor as you progress through the game. I remember I had to go back multiple locations to get those things when I could've taken a couple of steps to the right to grab 1.

I love this game so much and I've already played it through a few times. Usually I find games that I play for a while and then I'll be bored of them but with HZD that's clearly not the case. And as for cauldrons, a good thing to know is that they send signals like the tallneck does once you're close enough. There's also a sidequest which leads you to cauldron Sigma, you get it in that village where you have to talk to a woman who supposedly knows the way to Meridian. Unless you were in Sigma before you're in the village.

Here's one more tip when you're battling the deathbringer at markers end where it can't move hide behind the wall, you can destroy it by jumping back and forth behind the wall, especially if you're playing on Ultra hard. Don't forget to kill the watcher and the Eclipse soldiers first for taking on the deathbringer.

Something that may be useful for some Horizon Zero Dawn players is to not be afraid to spam the elemental arrows like ice or fire, those can be really useful in a fight.

In the third skill tree there is a skill that allows you to remove mods you put on weapons. So you can use mods earlier without worrying. If you use your rocks effectively you don't need the taunt skill. The wildlife specifically is useful towards increasing your capacities. For weak points don't forget using the Tear Arrow as it's an easy and effective way of removing the enemy's strongest weapons with a single shot.

Thanks that helped a lot. Another thing that I had to discover or maybe I missed it in the tutorial is using Z and X to scroll quick items and then using G to use. I went the entire first day after the tutorial not knowing how to throw a rock. For PC users it's the G button.

Just beat it today. Definitely one of my top 5 best games of all time. Also, another thing I would suggest if you want to get the Power Armor later in the game, make sure to keep a look out for power cores/cells through out the game. I didn't do that and now I have to go back to areas I previously been to to get them when I could of just grabbed them on my first play through. They are usually inside ruined facilities.

I just got the game and I'm loving it, though my tip for those that can't see a safe way down to the ground, look around and you'll see places that have white on them or if you want to get down safely look for rock outcrops as they are your friends in getting down and I have used them to get down safely from where I was

Nice vid but somthing worth mentioning about your fast travel comment, you can in fact unlock infinite fast travel early on by purcasing the gold travel pack from vendors once you enter the dessert region of the game. It allows free fast travel for as long as you have it in your inventory and it never runs out.
