Haha I love how you say 'Aloy defeats the machine(s) and proceeds to her next objective-' etc etc. Whereas for me it was like 'Aloy got owned several times by the machines, eventually manages to defeat them, runs out of materials, has to go material farming and THEN moves on to her next task, where she will once again get owned by the machines.' That's how I played it anyways. 😅

It's like you have to use everything in your arsenal properly, or you're screwed lol

While replaying Zero Dawn, I never noticed how they’ve actually mentioned the Forbidden West. In some dialogue it gets mentioned & there’s even a data entry that you can scan that describes the Forbidden West. Makes me feel like Guerilla has been planning for this game while developing Zero Dawn.

@@probablytaha starwars ? Have you even seen what Disney has done to starwars ? Inception was overrated as hell just over complicated to drive plot and interstellar was okay. But horizon has a rich lore. I'm sure you haven't actually gave the lore a deep dive. I'm a scifi buff and it's one of the best writer scifi plots/stories I've seen. Especially the exposition in the game, it was brilliantly done.

@@The_Primary_Axiom I mean I guess? Not to take it away from you, its an awesome couple of games, but the first game's writing is pretty so-so with some really cool lore. Second is better, but first game's moment to moment writing leaves a lot to be desired imo As far as Sci-Fi games I find a lot more interesting story-wise that I can recommend (in no particular order): -Nier Automata and Replicant -13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim -Mass Effect 1-3 -Bioshock 1 -Returnal -Soma -Outer Wilds -Metal Gear franchise -Dead Space 1+2. As far as movies/shows go, I think Arrival, Blade Runner series, Ghost in the Shell, Parasyte (not the Korean movie), Cowboy Bebop, and many other animated media tell a lot of unique stories that are some of my favorite Meant my comment as suggestions to add to your experiences. Like I said, Horizon is a cool franchise, just not nearly my personal favorite

The first Horizon is set in post-apocalyptic United States, in the core of the West, in the states of Colorado, Utah and Wyoming. Guerrilla did a perfect job in representing the post-apocalyptic versions. The sequel will be set in the Forbidden West, so we talking about California, Nevada, Oregon and perhaps Washington and Arizona. I can't wait for him another month. HYPE😱😱😱😱😱😱

Some of my most satisfying victories was defeating the two Jaguar robots in the early ruins section of the game. Mainly because I was underleveled, and lacked the resources for all of my traps, and was SUPER low on healing herbs. Don’t get me wrong, the mechanics for fighting in this game are amazing. But having to juggle low resources against tough oppenents, even if I died a lot helped me master certain timings and dodges and combos. I died many fucking times. But the more and more I played the better I got at using my abilities and being more conservative with my tools and health. And little by little I went from not being able to kill any, to dying after taking one down, to dying right before taking both, to finally killing both creatures.

I am about 80% done with forbidden west and I figured you know what... I need to go back. I felt really stupid because I didn't remember who Varl was LOL. I didn't realize they met so early in the first game, it's been a long time since I've played. I needed this recap. Thank you so much. This story is literally so perfect. Seeing Elisabet Sobeck's Legacy and her great sacrifice, I wouldn't get shocked to see Aloy went in that same path in the end of her Journey, She will die sacrificing herself to save the world in the end of her story just like Sobeck, And I kind of had this weird feeling that if we had someone to walk Elisabet's path, do we also have someone for Ted Faro? Someone who will ruin the world because of stupidity? Someone whose friends with Aloy before but turned cold with each other, possibly become her rival

Ted Faro was far from stupid, he was brilliant but diabolical and wanted to play at being a deity, which is why after all of his failures at building machines that caused the destruction of the planet, he decided humans weren't worth living and tried everything to stop ZD and killed all the people in the conference room at the GAIA Prime facility during The Mountain That Fell. If anyone is close to Ted Faro, it's Sylens And Aloy is a direct clone of Elisabet, so honestly, it's only natural that even though her upbringing was so completely different than Elisabet's, her basic nature of intellect, curiosity and solving problems is inherent.

@@horizonzeromom I wouldn't say Sylens would become like Ted Faro. Sylens is an extremely curious person. He desires knowledge, and is willing to do anything to gain more knowledge. Rather that be starting a cult, helping a genocidal AI, killing groups of innocent people, assisting Aloy, risking his life to save Aloy, capturing Hades the genocidal AI, and teaching aggressive tribes how to overide machines. Sylens extremely admires how advanced humanity was before the Faro robot apocalypse. He was in awe of the vast amounts of knowledge they had. Sylens actually hated what Ted Faro did. He viewed Ted as stupid and delusional. Ted's actions and beliefs about humanity at the end don't align with Sylen's ideals and desires.

Gonna go back to zero dawn after completing forbidden west.. i don't know why, but zero dawn never got me as hooked as FW did. FW got me playing nothing else since getting a ps5 though.. what a game, after quitting world of warcraft and having a baby this is such a nice game to just pick up, play a few minutes and hit pause if needed. Aloy is by far my favourite female character in gaming. Absolute badass powerhouse.
