I just want to say, the guy in the clip at 14:50, everytime the camera shifted from close-in to zoom-out, he shifts from guitar to bass exclusively for those different shots, and it took me 30 seconds of staring to realize that he was playing both instruments.
@TheProgSchool2 жыл бұрын
I specifically used different shots for bass and guitar. Hopefully it wasn’t too confusing haha

Seems like they were all just trying to shred rather than make a musical piece that other instruments and vocals can build around and work off of. When I make riffs I generally try to plan ahead for someone to put vocals over it. Much more musical and not so erratic

@jessebreakspear66562 жыл бұрын
Wow, this has been very inspiring and oh so humbling as a guitarist. they were all so amazing but if I had to pick a favorite Morgan's was the most "metal" and that violin by Sage gets tops in the "being different category. was that a piezoelectric? I didn't see a regular inductor-type pickup. or does that exist? maybe horizon devices can develop electric violin strings for a regular inductor-type pick-up? anyways thanks so much, this was awesome!!

All the entries were killer.awesome songwriting, production and guitar playing but,at the same time this contest is making me realise that non of the riffs/styles are unfamiliar.all of them playing similar type riffs with different gain playing super tight but no riffs remains unheard at this point.seems like all metal riffs has been saturated to the fullest.really looking forward to hear what new sound will be in couple of years.

Paul Masvidal forever with this prog stuff. Style over twiddling. But, what's the 'riff' criteria here? For mine the best riffs are going to be pure. Entirely subjective, of course, but technicality does not the mighty riff make... My opinion only. Simplicity can be the key. Memorable riffs are the ones you'll hum in your head on an oily rag of nostalgia forever and a day. I challenge anyone to remember the (brilliant) noodling let alone succumb to echolalia with the riffing here. Music for musos only...
@boarderking1332 жыл бұрын
same. most of these people need to use less notes and make it actually memorable
