see at my university the prof would just draw a diagram or just say it. I love it when they actually show how it works in real life. Top job to the professor

flat-earthers still don't get it

OK idiot, doing a canned experiment in a classroom is CONTROLLED and NOT the same as outside in the actual atmosphere. Why don't you get in a convertible car or bed of a pickup truck and while traveling 55 miles per hour launch a basketball or baseball into the air and see if it lands back in the car/truck! You globeheads are so gullible with these "bill nye the lyin' science guy's" BS experiments.
@ir8free6 жыл бұрын
Rattlerjake Someone threw a basketball out a moving car's window, and it followed until hitting the street. Physics experiments trigger flattards.

Rattlerjake Why does conservation of momentum apply in the atmosphere inside but not outside? Why is an experiment using a truck not controlled?
@rattlerjake23626 жыл бұрын
So tells us what this experiment has to do with the flat-earth vs globe-earth argument! I want to hear it directly from you, so I can show you what an idiot you are!
@flookd55166 жыл бұрын
Rattlerjake You can't answer my questions? FE'ers repeatedly claim that on a rotating Earth a ball thrown upwards would land at the point it was launched, on the grounds it loses all forward momentum when it breaks contact with the thrower. They claim that the ball returning to the thrower is evidence that the thrower isn't moving, i.e., that the Earth is motionless. The above experiment demonstrates the assumption of loss of momentum is false.

How to make the train move with the constant velocity? Since we know that force make some acceleration.
@Johnlanzer6 жыл бұрын
Well since the train have to contend with air resistance, and the friction between the rails and the wheels, there is a just enough force to keep the train moving at the same speed against the forces of air resistance and friction.

@albertmendoza14684 жыл бұрын
There is a force, but it only acted for a short while and added a little bit of speed. To prevent it from slowing down, the device is designed to lower the friction between the train and the rails. This will sufficiently give an approximate constant velocity.

So if I were to throw a ball through the sunroof of a car going at a constant pace of 200mph while it drives through the road without any bumps or objects to decrease its velocity, would the ball “catch” up to me.
@iaexo5 жыл бұрын
No because of air resistance
@albertmendoza14684 жыл бұрын
Michael is correct. Easier way to test this is to just throw it upwards inside your car and see if it lands on your hands.

@elonmuskguy85346 жыл бұрын
what if he would have given it an acceleration?
@herzikkimolog5 жыл бұрын
late answer* you have to give a constant force to it for gaining acceleration which is like launching a rocket with an angle, if the rocket is tended towards the route of that car (angle is positive) it's going to be ahead of that car when it hits the ground; distance between them in that moment depends on how big is the acceleration that rocket had gained. (x = 1/2 at^2 ; initial location x0 and initial velocity v0 of rocket relative to car are both zero.) this experiment is like firing the rocket just for a moment and shutting thrust off immediately (t goes to zero = dt) so it does have a velocity at start but acceleration is zero.

the whole device & the ball have the same speed just because the ball get ejected, doesn't mean it loses its forward motion -> still same speed => and lands in the device again.
@flookd55166 жыл бұрын
Conservation of momentum (mass x velocity). The ball has sideways momentum when inside the moving cannon; it retains that momentum when fired from the cannon. There is a belief in some people's minds that the ball has sideways momentum only when inside the cannon and somehow loses it once fired.
