75, post menopause, BC survivor, just got my HRT back! All the current information got this done🎉

It was not so easy to find a doctor who would prescribe HRT here in Germany. We are also down to ~6% after the shitty WHI study in 2002. But also most of my friends are too scared of HRT. I could only convince those who speak English and could listen to podcasts from Dr Louise Newson (UK), Dr Mary Claire Haver and Dr Kelly's. Approx. 75% are too scared (the German-only-speakers) of breast cancer. I bought several of Dr. Bluming's books "Estrogen matters!" (in German), but some still don't believe in his research 🤷🏻♀️. It's so sad, because HRT saved my life when I started 9 months ago (54 yo). I am so thankful to doctors like Kelly. Thank you again from Germany 🇩🇪

Pretty much the same in the UK, still. If we (here in the UK) think of the menopause, we just think of hot flashes, and maybe lack of sleep. We are blissfully ignorant of the diseases lack of oestrogen increases likelihood of. I visit Dr Newson's excellent/life saving/life enhancing practice, as was denied HRT by my GP due to having regular periods in perimenopause at 51, despite struggling with symptoms of low oestrogen. My UK GP told me in 2001 that HRT would increase my chances of cardiovascular disease (this was over the phone, and despite me not having any genetic risk or indicators of any heart disease). I also 'follow' Dr Menopause Barbie/Taylor here on YT. I really cannot express my gratitude for these ladies.

This was great! I am on the other side of menopause. I was on hormones for about 12 years. Then I had a stage one non invasive cancer and had to quit my hormones. I have been educating myself on cancer- it does not cause the cancer- and I am on a mission to find a provider that will let me get back on them. I was a nurse practitioner in two months. She is certified by the menopause society. I think I will have better luck with her. So glad you are telling all your friends. I send my niece, who is 41, information all the time so she will be educated on the whole menopause thing . Keep up the good work- both of you!❤

Hi Dr. Kelly Casperson! I want to thank you for your great advice and channel! I have watched a bunch of your videos, including this one. Because of you, I was brave enough to ask my gynecologist for HRT after I had a hysterectomy in May. I am 57 and went through menopause at 56 before I had post menopausal bleeding with some precancerous cells so needed the hysterectomy. I had my ovaries removed too and my hot flashes and night sweats are terrible. Yesterday I started on an estradiol patch and one tenth of a packet of testosterone. I did a video about putting on the patch and unlocking the benefits of HRT while on Mounjaro during menopause. I gave you a big thank you shout out! I would love to have you on my Anchor Moments show one day! You rock! And your friend Katey, give her a hug for me! I have signed up for pelvic floor PT that will start at the end of August because I do not want to have a prolapse. Her interview with you was powerful and so informative! Prevention is the name of the game and I appreciate her sharing her story!

Hang in there, it took me two months and still improving. You need to eat right as well and excercise though, they aren’t magic pills. If it isn’t working after 3 months ask for a dosage adjustment.

@@KC-kh5dv Thank you so much. They had to start me slow because estrogen level was so low for so long. 0.025mg for 5 weeks, 0.0375mg for 6 weeks and now have been on 0.05mg for 3 weeks and 100mg micronized progesterone for 10 days so far. My doctor told me that for those of us that had such low levels for so long that it’s going to take some time and will feel “off” for a while since reintroducing hormones to our body. They have been asleep and need to wake them up. I hope that makes sense. Just so discouraging when women say they put a patch on and felt better the next day.

I was told that HRT were bad for women’s health, the older women who told me used Birth Control when were young, but were afraid to take HRT for menopause. Now I am learning. 5-4 years ago when I was told about getting HRT, I was afraid to get a prescription. But now, I will gladly accept a prescription if I was offered the option 😊
@KC-kh5dv5 ай бұрын
Why wait to be offered instead of asking ? Advocate for your health.
@DeyaIV5 ай бұрын
@@KC-kh5dv thanks, I have asked, but my gynaecologist is very old, he just smiled and sent me to the lab to do blood tests 3 months ago, he hasn’t called me with the results, I wrote him about 4 messages and not answers. So I will have to look for a different gynaecologist, this time I will choose, won’t let my insurance pick for me. I said “when offered“ because that’s the way a doctor should treat patients, give them options and offer treatments, it’s our decision to take it or reject it. 5 years ago I rejected the offer because I didn’t know anything about hormonal therapy, I needed to investigate and educate myself on the HRT first. Now I think I am ready. Thanks for the advice, I have been an advocate for myself, my recent experience was with a fibroid, I didn’t like the only solution the doctor offered me: hysterectomy, I told him exactly what I wanted and after 1 year of just looking and watching it grow and making me anemic, he then referred me to a fibroid specialist. So, as a patient I have been very patient, I know that sometimes to get what I need I will have to change providers, even I had to change insurance policies couple of times in 4 years. Greetings 👋🏼

Thank you both for all the great info. I am anxiously awaiting my appointment a few weeks from now. As a bc survivor, I'm a little nervous about maybe having to push to get HRT. 🤞 having a tough day today, everything hurts and I hope that changes/improves by the end of this year!

Kelly, I recently found your channel (or it found me) I love everything you are doing. I am in the Minneapolis MN (Twin Cities) area and cannot find a Doctor educated and willing to talk with me about HRT. Sadly, I was caught in the fray of the infamously misstep with the WHI. I am 64 and still not sleeping, belly fat, joint discomfort. No HRT for me (I was told it would cause cancer) ....but I want to find SOMEONE. Is there a resource Directory anywhere? Any suggestions for me? I completed menopause at 54, so I am ten years out. Is it too late for me?

You sound like me, here in Kansas. I found a provider of bioidentical hrt within 30 miles of our small town. Within a week of estradiol injections and progesterone troche, I was my old self except of course for the damage done by 10 years of no hormones. But it's never too late. I would also recommend testosterone. Find someone who will meet your needs. Just search hormone replacement near me and start calling around. You can feel good again!

If you are in Winnipeg Manitoba - I believe you can get a dexa scan (that you pay for) at a place called Body Measure.

Might DHEA supplementation help us older ladies who missed out on BHRT due to the erroneous WHI study?

It's never too late to start HRT. Search hormone replacement near me. I started back at 75 after 10 years of being denied. Results came almost immediately. Don't be afraid and don't wait. Get what you need!
