Great video. Leslie RS3L is one amazing horn .2 chimes face forward and the 3rd chime projects backwards creating that pitch fade effect as the locomotive passes the crossings. It projects so well and you can hear them quite a distance away. Awesome power in this video.

This is awesome!!!!!!!! I grew up hearing Conrail and their RS3Ls. Whenever I hear that something is going through with and RS3L, I race to the door to hear it. Yeah, Im obsessed with these. This video is just music to my ears! Nice job!

Arkangel Productions so do i! At the local railroad, there was an S2 with an rs3l on it, but now the S2 is sitting outside rusting away. I live right off the N.E.C. so very rarley i will hear RS3Ls and think prob an ex conrail.

Norfolk7130 so do i! I live near the West Chester railroad in P.A. and they have an unfunctional S2 painted in the older West Chester paint, but if you look up wilmington and western (1992) you can see it running when it belonged to willmington and western, and it is running with an RS3L

Affirmative- I grew up hearing those classic Conrail Leslie RS3L train horns and they did rival that of the classic Chessie System Nathan K5LA train horns, which I also grew up hearing. Lo and behold, nowadays when Norfolk Southern trains go by, we'll either hear the classic Conrail Leslie RS3L or the classic Chessie System K5LA train horns from NS locomotives!!!

ATSF RS3s and SP P3s are my personal favorite horns, the RS3 is low, melodic and powerful, it's not as loud or serious as a K3 or K5 but it still sounds serious. The P3 has a high pitch and a very good tone, even "sick" P3s have a nicer sound in my opinion than most 5-chime horns. And of course, they both have that distinctive "chirp", the quirky squeaking sound they make every time the engineer blows the horn. Really, if you listen to them back to back they sound very similar, which might be why I like them both almost equally, but hearing either individually brings up images of their respective railroads in my head.

don't forget the BN 3Ks!
@trainknut2 жыл бұрын
@@zeeboss2762 BN had some distinctive horns for sure, as did Chessie with their K5Ls, but I still think the RS3L and P3 second generation were the best sounding horns of all time.
