Good sales pitch, now if I could find some reliable load data for these bullets I might even give them a try seeing as that's all I can find lately

I don't doubt this is doable, but you are so tight lipped with the details, that the report comes off sounding suspicious. What cartridge were you using (not just caliber). Was it a hand load, or a factory load? These kinds of videos are fun to watch, but offer little value otherwise.

Are you dumb or something its in the title
@EdAb3 жыл бұрын
@@iraizsanchez7292 No, but you obviously are. ELD-X is a bullet line, not a cartridge. He might have been using Precision Hunter factory cartridges, or he might have used hand loads. A "Best of the West load" is pretty uninformative. A 22 inch barrel might have been used, or maybe a 26 incher. What were the velocities? I wasn't rude, I was just asking for more info. Go back to sleep.

@@iraizsanchez7292 Oh my, you are simple. In the video description (not the "title") it says, "He takes his 7mm Rem Mag", not 300 win mag! All you had to do was read and move on, but instead you picked a fight for no reason. Now you just look like a fool.
@chadillac95 Жыл бұрын
It showed a custom load of best of the west. The rest of that info is irrelevant because it's a custom load and if you go through them, they'll make a custom load for your rifle anyway and your rifle will be able to do the same thing

Hello John I also use Hornady ELD-X 175 bullets on my 7mm-08 and consistently hit targets to 1060 which is the farthest at my local range. My question is where you using a 7 mag or 28 nosler for that distance I am trying to decide on my next build.

I recently bought some 175 grain 7mm ELD's. I got them cheap because they were "factory seconds." They were longer than a witch's dream. Weights deviated by up to three grains. Loading them over my usual 45 grains of IMR 4831 in 7X57 cases, I found that there was not enough room for them. I cut the charge down to 44 grains. At 200 yards, they sprayed a four-hole group evenly over most of the left side of a 100-yard DCM target paper measuring two feet by a foot and three quarters. I then fired a 200-yard, three-shot group with the handloads that I normally use at the same range and scored two tens and a nine in a one-inch group. The rifle is a 130-year old Spanish Mauser, Model of 1893 fitted with a Williams peep sight and a custom-made hooded front barleycorn. The twist is one in seven. The original military ammunition was a 173 grain round nose. I know that ELD's must be high-quality bullets. What was it that could have gone wrong in my case?

I have a savage model 12fv in 6.5 creedmoor that will shoot half inch groups with good ammo all day at a hundred. Consistently. I'm talking about 7 shots into a half to 5/8 inch group. Out to a thousand yards with a good optic using 147 grain hornady eld loads. 2725 fps average muzzle velocity . At 1000 yards I'm getting sub moa but nothing close to half. Roughly 9 and ten inch 7 shot groups . At 1100 it starts going to 1 moa, sometimes 1 and a quarter all the way out to 1300. Then they will start keyholing. Maybe 2 to 3 of 7 shots. I'm using a bullet that has a b c of .697 . And can't get past 1300. There's no way you're getting out that far making a good shot. It may very well be hitting moa at that distance. But they are keyholing, that I can tell you. A 175 grain bullet in 7mag can safely be loaded to 2850 fps max. And even at that you're going to burnout your barrel. So the velocity isn't outdoing my rifle by much. And the b c on that round isn't any better. This is hard to believe for an experienced shooter like myself. I aint buying into it. Hornady match ammo is great. But it ain't all this.
@hoffmiermp2 жыл бұрын
They're definitely good types of bullets and shoot them quite often out of my rifles clambered in the 6.5 CM and .300 WM, but always been partial with the sierras.
@Commiefornia2 жыл бұрын
I think to go farther than you are attempting you need heavier bullets. Heavier bullets carry their momentum and stabilization farther than lighter bullets. You're maxed out bullet weight-wise with 6.5mm bullets. To go past 1300 yards you need to up the cartridge size and bullet weight.

By the way I've shared a blind with both of these gentleman. Wouldn't be to surprised if Don Caldwell isn't with us anymore he was pretty old when I met him.

Please don't shoot big game animals at 800-900 yes, learn to hunt and exercise your body to get closer, that's why it's called, (hunting), and not shooting, you owe it to God's animals. So much muzzle energy is lost past 500 yes and the risk/probability of poor shot placement is increased past that distance.

I am sorry but this is not very useful video because ELD-X is for hunting. And everyone questions its HUNTING performance. we all know it is a laser beam accurate bullet.
