Incredibly accurate, I have shot two deer in the last two deer seasons here in Wisconsin, both 80 to 100 yards. One dropped in its tracks the other ran a circle and dropped 10 yards from where It. was standing when I shot it. Perfect heart shot. Shooting a Ruger American in 6.5 Creedmore. Thank you a great product!

I tried the 178/200 ELDX expansion on game was very similar to Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets. If they would just bond this bullet they would have a winner. I went back to Nosler Accubond in my 30-06 and 300 win Mag for hunting.

Shot my buck last year at 20yrds went less than 40yrds. Went through ribs and lungs. My cow elk was shot at 500yrds didnt hit bone but went through both the lungs. Went less than 20yrds. Both kills jellied up the internals. 6.5 creedmoor 143gr eldx did the job. Handloads, 42.5gr of 6.5 staball powder.

Working up a load for my 300 PRC. At the time I bought it, I couldn't find any brass (still can't) so I bought a box of their Precision Hunter 212 grain factory ammo. If these shoot exceptionally well, I will buy a box and handload from there. I understand R26 is the preferred powder for these bullets, and used in their ammo. Of course that's one I don't have and can't find. I have their manual but was wondering what are some alternatives that others have handloaded them with, that have performed just as well? Thx!

I don't understand, I have seen some amazing feats of accuracy out to very long distances using hornadys A-Max bullets. If the tip melting is such a big deal, why didn't people notice this long ago when they first relased the amax bullet? The ELD shoots amazing in my 6.5 creedmoor. It keeps right up with the 142 grain SMK going 2800 fps.

The ELD-X is not what I had hoped it would be, the ELD-M however is a very fine bullet with incredible terminal performance. If the ELD-X had been bonded I think it could have been a winner but terminal performance is seriously lacking and it pencil holes most deer leaving little blood trail. Out of 12 White Tail deer every single ELD-X core separated and was unpredictable in terminal performance. Sometimes it would pencil, other times it would open a egg sized exit hole but not usually. I will give the ELD-X one kudo, it IS accurate but so is the ELD-M and it just performs better on game every single time. Doppler radar and all that is nice but I care about what happens when the bullet hits the MEAT and the ELD-X just is not something I found to work as well as other available hunting bullets. Love Hornady just not the ELD-X.....

One question, why did you move the interlocking ring forward to make the bullet fail? The SST had enough failures with the locking ring back. Now you've pushed the locking ring forward and now the bullet just comes apart. Don't make no sense when the creator of the locking ring in y'all's company put it all the way at the back so it we keep the bullet together

So where is the 125 grain ELD X bullet for the 6.5 caliber because of the speed I will not use the heavy ones, a 125 to 130 grain flat base ELD X would be great but it does not exist, I think Hornady should make it because it would be a very big seller and a 125 grain bullet has plenty of sectional density up to mule deer sized game. Now that's my two cents worth coming from a hunter as I will not use the heavy ones because they are just too slow, aim small, good hunting, GOD bless.

What’s the big deal with another innovator making the product better? I’m sick of all these internet warriors who have no clue and are ignorant beyond belief. Go practice falling down.

These bullets have terrible weight retention. Don't believe the hype. Accurate yes, good for hunting: NO.

Why wouldn't Hornady use the heat shield tip on all their tipped bullets? Doing so doesn't increase production costs. And using an inferior tip as they say degrades performance, will give their bullets a bad reputation. And THAT makes no marketing sense whatsoever. Do they just advertise this tip on their premium bullets only?

They don't retain their weight. And the tips bend. I shoot them and everything I've hit has gone right down. But. They don't do all of what they say they do.

This bullet are a 50 year old design with a new tip. This type of bullets are trash when it comes to penetration. Try something smarter.
