At 14:20 design of the v block tips the cases. I have the same Hornady press with the auto case feeder. 9mm is especially problematic. My case feeder drops cases out of the drop tube at any angle causing them to fall into the processed case box or behind the shell plate so when the ram goes up it smashes the case sideways into the decapping pin and bends or breaks it. This is because the small drop tube provided is way too big to hold 9mm so they drop out straight. The v block is designed to tip the case over as it is pushed towards the shell plate. The v block regularly tips the case and the edge of the rim catches as it tries to cross the retention spring. The hopper jams up all the time. I spend more time unjamming the pile of crap hopper than what it takes to manually feed the cases.

I enjoy watching your videos, Extremely informative and easy to follow for us novice re-loaders. I have a Hornaday case feeder attached to my machine. It works flawlessly for most of my needs. Except when it comes to 357 Mag. cases. The carriage wheel does not pick up the shells, They remain on their sides for the ride. It picks up all the other small pistol brass with no issues. I've tried numerous times with different amounts of brass 50,100, no avail. It will take several minutes of constant running to maybe drop a handful into the down tube. do you have any suggestions for a work around? Have you run into this issue before? Thank You. Please keep the videos coming...

+john leone Hi John, which plate are you using? It sounds like you might be using the Small pistol plate. For 357 Magnum, you should use the Large pistol plate, not the Small pistol plate. I know that sounds odd, the Small pistol plate would seem to be the right one, but he length of the 357 cases make it necessary to use the large pistol plate.

@@hornadyloader7574 I use the large pistol feeder plate for 357 and I have the same problem. They take forever to load into the funnel. They don't stand up on the case feeder plate. And frequently jam at the top of the case feeder.

I just noticed your case feeder is a composite material similar to the bullet feeder. When did they make that change? Mine is the flimsy plastic all bolted and glued together.

+superkillr To be honest, I'm not sure. I wasn't aware they used to use plastic for the case feeder. How old is your case feeder? I bought mine when I lived in Colorado but I left there in 2002 so mine is at least 13 or 14 years old.

+HornadyLoader --If yours is that old, then it's the other way around. They were composite first and started making them plastic to probably save money. Mine was bought used, but at most 4 years old.

+superkillr Jus got off the phone with Hornady. They said they made the change to plastic about 1.5 to 2 years ago. Of course they described it as "a harder, more durable construction". I suspect it's also less expensive for them to make. I'm disappointed since there was really no reason to change to "a harder, more durable construction" since I've had mine for 14 years and have never had an issue with it's construction. Mine still looks like it just came out of the box, although I do take extremely good care of my equipment.

+HornadyLoader --You're awesome!!. Thanks for the information. I can't believe they went backward in quality like that. If you see the plastic one up close, it's about half as nice as yours. It still works for me though.

30 years reloading, 20 using the Hornady, and still there was a double charge and a missed bullet. This is why people say to never shoot other people's reloads. You could have at least owned up to the mistakes rather than pathetically tried to cover them up.
