Hi Peter great work with the stay alive i now what you mean when locos stop working when your trying to film them and like you say its great the variety of liveries we have now but its impossible to keep up with them, by the time the accurascale tpe mk5 set came out the real things were withdrawn from service after only a few years, great running session as always, look forward to your next update. Hi Peter - enjoyed our chat at the Chatham show and thanks for your mentions it was a really enjoyable couple of days . Nice work on the 08s stay alives do give that bit of reliability. Cheers Kev

It was good to meet you at the Chatham show. I have fitted both Hornby and Bachmann 08s with Zimo non sound decoders and LAIS stay alives and the slow running is incredible.

Lovely stuff Peter. I do gauge 1 RC and will investigate fitting sound to my 08. Visitors seem to like it above my others. Need to do the same with my 47. Well done. great video.

Hello Peter, another great video , I have been going through your videos, I was very impressed with your collection of plans and cars etc a lot of work must have been put in to that. I build model ships in 1/48 scale, my railway only started after lockdown I'm 77 now.
@torridonroadbypeterdixon41624 ай бұрын
Hi Derick, yes before this layout I enjoyed building models of military aircraft and vehicles and collecting cars from my timeline. I love models and appreciate the work that goes into making them. Don't build anymore as I now find I don't have the steadiest hands anymore I'm ok for a short while so I can do work on the layout and stock. The joys of age I guess :) Cheers and thank you Peter

Hello Peter, Thank you for your vieo +advice ! Greetings from Germany. I do have 08 switchers by HORNBY made in China and therefore running very well.Track material is FLEISCHMANN 2,5 mm laiton edition. Greetings from Germany !
@torridonroadbypeterdixon41624 ай бұрын
Hi Michael, yes mine for most of the time ran well but now and then would drop the sound due to the point or something on track but now this has made such a difference. Fleischmann track, am I right has a ready fitted "ballast" look to it and a different metal used in the rails. Im sure being Fleischmann is a much better quality than Hornby or Peco. So, Michael Guter Tag from London :) All the best Peter
@class77sncb4 ай бұрын
@@torridonroadbypeterdixon4162 The track with trackballast is called FLEISCHMANN PFOFI GLEIS 2,1 mm . I´m using FLEISCHMANN MESSING GLEIS, ROCO 2,5 mm and PECO 2,5 mm (both in silver metal) !. Reason: Older FLEISCHMANN do have rails like HORNBY and Bachmann, which I use ,too ! But the trains from USA with RP 25 wheelsets do run there as well ! Have a lot of fun with your railway !! All the best Michael !

Hi Peter, loving the sound quality, what speaker are you using as is appears to have a good level of bass? Cheers Paul
@torridonroadbypeterdixon41624 ай бұрын
Hi Paul, no special speaker, just the standard speaker that comes with the TTS decoder. It fits perfectly behind the radiator , I don't think there's room for anything else TBH Cheers Peter

I have that o8 shunter in the same livery
@StormmyStormmy4 ай бұрын
Hi Peter, great video catch up, I have the same class 08 shunter in DB Schenker red livery, I’m fitting directional and cab lighting, I got a 2 wire stay alive from Digitrains which is a Lais kung fu unit which came highly recommended but hard to get hold of, it’s going in the cab with a figure sitting on top of it, I hope to finish it as soon as I can. I hope Bachmann announce a Europhoenix silvery livery model along with a yellow Network Rail model in the newly tooled class 37 model, will you be buying any new class 08 Bachmann locomotives next year? Thanks for sharing.
@torridonroadbypeterdixon41624 ай бұрын
Hi there, yes never say never regards new locos. Nothing against the old Bachmann 08s just Hornby's have finer detail but yes no lights. I'm sure I will treat myself to the new Bachmann one as well as it looks very good and has everything fitted. I too fitted the capacitors in the cab and can still have drivers standing in the open door. All the best Peter

Hi Peter, at 40.40 you are running your Plasser Tamper vehicle, I was wondering what you’ve done to make it look so different, is it the Bachmann/Liliput model or another brand, I have one of those models that I want to put lighting and sound into at some stage, it looks like the roof section is continuous instead of 2 separate panels, I’m sure there’s a sound file for that particular vehicle on the ESU site, did you know Hornby have a mk1 Balfour Beatty crew coach in their present range? Thanks for sharing.
@torridonroadbypeterdixon41623 ай бұрын
Hi nothing so fantastic Im afraid. It is the Bachmann motorised version I hot wired to a decoder, no sound no lights but I put a false roof on it to make it look bigger, because as you know this is in HO rather than OO. I have the Hornby coach its in white so you may miss the fact its Balfour Beatty livery :) Cheers Peter

Hi Pete. Let me know when you're available as I've got 18 class 08's that could do with a stay alive. The new tooled Bachmann class 08's will have stay alive fitted. I did question Bachmann as to why the ready version didn't have a stay alive. Their reply was that it does BUT only with a DCC decoder fitted. If not, then the stay alive won't work. I was hoping to see how and where the stay alive was installed.
@torridonroadbypeterdixon41624 ай бұрын
Hi there, yes looking forward to the new Bachmann 08 as well. I think from now on all engines should have stay alive's fitted as they're small enough now. I'm sure I'll be up for one when they come out. All the best Peter
