Nice one . People are sniffy about these tender driven locos but they look the part and haul well . I’ve currently got my 1981 A4 Seagull pulling a new Coronation set . Looks lovely ! Gave Seagull a Ringfield service a la Bill . Now have my own Manky brush !

It is good to have people like Paul that give something so pristine as the Prince Palatine is. Great inspection, advice, video, and running session and I did see some of the work you've done on the layout.

What! A loco in perfect running order. Whatever next. Lovely donation to the blue fleet. Cheers

I have this locomotive, it came in one of the Hornby big red box sets, “The Master Cutler” with custard and cream Gresley bogie coaches. I DCC chipped it quite easily.

thank you for your efforts, my favourite channel - as the videos go by i benefit from a little more understanding of the enormous range available and the potential concerns with various models.

Lovely locomotive. I remember seeing this in the Hornby catalogue back in the early 1990s. I enjoyed watching the running session. Cheers Paul.

Prince Pallentine was my very 1st bought loco. That was about 30+ years ago. Still runs as good as the day I got it. Love the blue colour. Like you said, if you look after it, it will run for years.

Another blue lady to the fleet. Looks the part with the coaches. In such good condition as well, was a pleasant surprise to see the draw bar not connected to pickups; less wiring and less to go wrong. Looking forward to layout update; scenery looks good, as always. All best Marc from Leighton Buzzard

In my experience tender driven locos have remarkable pulling power. And yes, it's mainly due to traction tyres, but that's OK for me. I have a later version of Prince Palatine, and it looks superb. The blue livery really suits the classic, elegant lines of Gresley's A1/A3s.

Glad to see you're enjoying it and you're more than welcome for the donation. Better it went to someone who'd run it than sitting in its box. Cheers, Paul

Prince Palatine originally was going to be the A3 that was preserved due to him being mostly original and still having the Great Northern style tender. But when Alan Peglar purchased Flying Scotsman, all of those plans for preserving Prince Palatine were dropped and they were sadly scrapped. That being said, this example of Prince Palatine is in VERY nice condition, such a nice donation!

Not really fan of this livery, but my word what a lovely thing for someone to donate to you. More or less in 'mint' condition and a nice addition to you collection of blur steam locomotives. Great progression on the layout area over the tunnel. Don't worry about posting less videos at this time of the year, you do a great job, and need to have some time for yourself and family..!

The layout is looking good - I'd probably be looking at adding some canopies on the platforms or a roofed section to bulk up the main station a bit

A lovely loco and a very kind & generous donation. Your blue fleet is coming along nicely. A BR blue Coronation class 'City of Edinburgh' next? I've BR blue 'Flying Scotsman' which is loco drive. It was an Ebay bargain which I got very cheaply about 2 years ago. It was boxless and the tender was missing it's buffer beam, other than that it was in great condition. Originally I intended to get a replacement tender chassis to sort out the missing buffer beam, but in a stroke of good fortune I came across a complete replacement tender being sold at a very reasonable price which was fantastic as they're pretty rare. Bought that instead and sold the old tender as spares. I actually got £1 more for that than I paid for the new one!😀

Now that I have watched the video. No pick-ups in the locomotive, but it has an electrical connection as a drawbar. I think that the locomotive is indeed picking up the negative connection through the chassis. I may be wrong. The last coach in the set does not seem to run in line with the others. Martin. @stephensimmonds18410 күн бұрын
Positive feed is from the loco wheels on the same side as the traction tyres, negative is on the other side of the tender to the traction tyres.
