Pulled mine out of the box yesterday runs perfect 68 years old re magnetised it it’s like new these things were built to last forever amazing

Hi there, great vid. I'm pretty sure that the problem with the set will be the magnet. They were made with iron and as such loose power over time. If you take the body off and carefully place a flat screwdriver near the magnet it should stick, if it doesn't, it will need a re-mag. There are modern replacements, but re magnetising is a better, and more authentic option. 👍

That set is in immaculate condition for 60+ years old, by the way the railway modellers of today seem to hold slow running as the be all and end all of a quality locomotive so Frank Hornby got it spot on. Ha Ha!

At 10:00 you suggest it might be the power supply that is at fault. Surely you have a cheap multimeter? Measure it!

It wasn´t just 1 toy manufacturer who made 110-220 volt trains, basically before january 1, 1926 every German model train company made them, because of the amount of differend electric systems and the incompatibility with transformers. But then a law was passed that said toys were only allowed to have a maximum voltage of 20v and with that trafos and converters were used.

i think with it being an early video it was before i got a directional microphone, so its just the in built one on my phone which tends to pick up everything thats going on in the background in the shop. sorry about that, background noise is a problem i have filming on the shop floor, so sorry about that ! that aside i hope you enjoyed the video ! thank you for your comment, stay safe M
