I particularly liked seeing the American side tanks roaming the docksides, as they had quite the distinction between other locos at the docks, like the LBSC engines, inside cylinders and British as can be.

@YOrbiTer 12 Actually, that would be nearly impossible. Thomas was built and sold in 1915 to Sodor, Rosie and her siblings were went to Southampton during the 1940's, to help with the war effort, so here's my theory. Thomas would probably know Rosie during the Second World War, where she was sent to Sodor. She proved far greater then the E2, which made Thomas jealous and worried for his siblings. But during the 60's, when Diesels started to replace Steam, he had sympathy for Rosie, and then the two would be made friends. So there.

My ship, the USS Guam tied up at the liner terminal in November of 1974. I recall a train yard full of those wooden coal wagons near there, all with the big letters on the side of each wagon. The tracks for the boat trains were there but probably no longer in use by then. Did all the boat trains go to Victoria or Waterloo? Both?

It's been said before, but I do wish an E2 was preserved. The fact they're the basis for Thomas aside, they were elegantly designed locomotives, and had a surprisingly long and productive career. Whilst not the most amazing or well-performing locomotives ever made, the E2s found good use as shunters and were clearly quite helpful in some scenarios.

(•_• ) Unfortunately the E2 class models were one of the most underwhelming steam locomotives in the industry becuz of its many errors. It runs kinda slow, has faulty brakes, small coal bunker making insufficient fuel issues even with the extended side tanks, and its HUGE wheel base making it difficult for working through tight rail bends. Yeah...It is annoying. Besides, in universe of the Railway Series, Thomas never worked at the docks in this video (he went almost immediately to Sodor). People forget that these engines existed irl too. Real life is disappointing sometimes. Looking into British rail history is quite fun. Besides, people don't seem to understand that the whole point of trains in the first place was so that humans wouldn't have to work as much by hand and haul heavy loads using machinery they built with time. And this video is an example of people moving goods around. Steam locomotives were literally the iron horses and could get any job done. Trains still help at harbors today but obviously not steam locomotives.
