I've encountered a really frustrating issues with the HM7000 decoders not showing up in the Ready to Link section of the HM DCC app when I've tried to link to them. They show up as Resettable Devices. Have you experienced this? Do you have the solution?

Just a quick reminder that the HM 7000 manual is available to refer to on the HM 7000 section of the Hornby Forum, it’s a pinned thread near the top. That does list a lot really useful info that if people read, they would not encounter quite a lot of what they think are issues and there are some good troubleshooting guides too. Really well written for people who speak normal English not a lot of techy jargon. Only had the issue mentioned once in a host of HM 7000 decoders. I find it much more convenient to power down my track rather than lift locos on and off, and if you watch the CV screen you know when BT signal is off. Especially useful if you run a powerbank. These decoders are really user friendly, and a doddle to reset if you get into a pickle 😁 Another Top Tip, play with Auto Calibration to enhance motor control 👍

Yes I’ve had this problem this week and Hornby technical support has emailed this solution

Haven’t had this yet, but great to be pre-warned about the possible issue and how to deal with it. Thanks.

Hi Rob. Having followed both posts, neither of them worked for me. I had a conversation with the Hornby Technical department, which gave me new codes for my two troubled locomotives. The comment says close the app, and the other says power off your smart device. For an android device Hornby told me to go to settings on your smart device. Then apps find the Hornby/DCC app and FORCE stop. Then, back into the Hornby DCC app and from the I proceeded to import sound functions. I now have both troubled locomotives works along with the other two that had no issues. On another point, my Hornby class 50 never worked well after installing TXS decoder. It now runs and sounds great. Inclusion. Smart device Settings. Apps. HORNBY/DCC app. FORCE stop. Back to the home screen, Hornby app.

Thanks for the info. What did you do to fix the class 50?

@LittleWicketRailway I believe for my android forced stop helped. Back into the app, and all seemed OK. Just fitted a TXS decoder into a class 60 took way to long but I think that's me struggling blindly through the installation.

As you said, it's a known problem (identified during early testing - as was the solution). Switch everything off, loco, layout, tablet, phone, and allow a couple of minutes downtime to ensure it all resets. Power everything back up, rescan and you should be good to go. Steve M6

I've often had to change to legacy Bluetooth to get it to connect in the app settings. But overall I've had a very positive experience with the HM7000 decoders. I normally just use them under DCC control once I've set it up via Bluetooth.

Surely we have paid good money for these decoders and trains, and were not led to believe we were entering into a subscription where Hornby controls who can use the train. We should be able to reset these decoders without contacting Hornby, or involving them at all. Something for the BlackBeltBarrister perhaps
@LittleWicketRailway

You can reset them yourself. The code is a4c13800 followed by the last 4 digits/letters of the decoder address which you should be able to see in the app when you try to link to them. But also, there's no charge for contacting Hornby.

I had this problem this week with a 21pin decoder. I got to the stage where it prompted me for a reset password in the android app and I tried everything I knew and ended up contacting the HM7000 hornby email address where they issued me with a reset code which I entered and away it went. P.s. I've had a few occasions to contact HM7000 support and the guy there (George) has always been prompt and extremely helpful.

I thought Hornby had fixed this issue. This issue is something they had when first released. Thanks for the tips :)

They need to fix it. Not sure if it's a firmware or app issue.

Hi yes happen to me with the class 50 tt120 Leviathan I was lifting train off on turning off on for about half hour or more just about to send it back to Hornby and it connected

Maybe that's the key. You've got to threaten to send it back before it'll behave 😆

Watched your video with special interest. Every time I try to link my device it always, I repeat it always appears in the resettable area. I now have fifty three locos with HM7000. Quite often I have problems, like now with my 800 series Hitachi units. Nothing but grief with them. I will delete the app and reload. Do you know what will happen with all the previous recorded details?

Hi Rob, what sound decoders do you use with your DCC ex system?
@LittleWicketRailway
@LittleWicketRailway 2 ай бұрын
I use a range from Zimo, Soundtraxx Econami, Hornby (TTS, HM7000) and ESU LokSound. Depends what I need it to go, where it needs to fit and how much I'm prepared to spend.

Hi Rob, I picked up after many years my old hobby again. Of course i want to make it all digital DCC. I am struggling with the following and hope you made a video for it. How to make an If Than solution in JMRI. The trains should pass a railway crossing and this has to close automatically. Placing the sensors is not the issue, but how to activate the bulbs of the crossing. Till now I couldn’t find a good solution. Hope you can help, Piet The Netherlands.

Hi Piet. Welcome back to the hobby and the world of DCC. What command station are you using? Some (like DCC EX) have sensor inputs and outputs built in. You could use CMRI (check out my videos on CMRI and mimic panels). Do you need the crossing in JMRI, you could have the crossing as a standalone bit of hardware with an Arduino nano reading the sensors and activating the lights.

@@LittleWicketRailway Thanks for your information Rob. I will check out your video on CRMI! I am using a Digitrax command station without I/O, but of course I can connect I/O modules or an Arduino to the system. I am working with JRMI and figuring out how it works and what the possibilities are (it seems to be a lot :-) ). Thanks for your tips!

I have issues trying to clear the profile. I ding it very complicated to delete and reset the device. After many attempts I have a diesel profile making steam sounds!! A factory reset option without having to unlink and delete would be great. Good product, spoiled by’clever’ software

I'm suffering the same issue with two of my locomotives. Two others i have no issues. I've tried both suggestions with no success. Is the reset code on or in the box of the decoder ?

Just found this video, I’m pulling my hair out.. these decoders are just NOT fit for purpose. I’ve so tried to set this chip so that I get a class 47 and not a steam train....I feel I’ve been sold a pup. I bought two of these decoders with the intention of setting up a class 37 and class 47, ha no way.. so they will be returned to the dealer and I’ll stick with loksound, extra money yes but zero hassle!
