This for me brings back happy memories. My grandfather gifted me this set for my 10th birthday. I remember putting it up with him and playing with it until my mum said it was bedtime XD. And that started my hobby for me. So cheers granddad, you maybe gone but I will always have this train set to remember you by.

I have an older Hornby Percy in my collection, too. What I did was trim down the safety valves and painted over the painted whistle. After that, I used part of the Hornby Thomas whistle on one of the safety valves and painted gold spray paint on it and his dome to make it look more authentic. I love having this stuff! I also have a custom Hornby Thomas and an authentic Hornby Gordon. The other characters (Edward, Henry, James, Toby, Annie, Clarabel, and Henrietta) are all Bachmann, and I look to adding Duck into the mix soon.

I actually bought a rare Bachmann Salty dockside delivery train set one year ago and i still have Salty and the trucks that came with him. I'm also suprised that people still want bachmann salty and now he really rare.

Wow! Ya know, people say I'm not a thomas fan because I don't have any Bachmann/Honrby models, but I don't think I need that to be a thomas fan, I already got all the RWS books and most of the Tomy/plarail models, I don't think merchandise makes people a thomas fan, it's how much love they put into show, we've got through the Miller an Hit Era for goodness sake! And I think we can make it through the Mattel era and the garbage they are releasing, so the only thing we can do is make our own thomas episodes and unbox things we all forgot about and your channel is the perfect example for one of the best Thomas Content Creaters, Thank you for reading this comment.

The Hornby Thomas and Friends models are still technically around, since many were molds of other Hornby locos, but they do also have models for the Thomas and Percy models (with the site even saying such in their descriptions) and 3 different versions of a 4-wheeled Thomas, all models not having faces or the same liveries, mind you,

When you talked about the “whistles”, I would like to make the correction that the printed whistle is the actual whistle, while those front two things are meant to be the safety valve, same too with the James, the whistle is unpainted behind the safety valves on their pedestal.

Sorry, but no. If you compare Hornby Percy to the TV series model on which he is based, only _one_ of the two brass whistles is standing in for the safety valve. Unlike Gordon and Henry, Percy has only a single valve in front of his whistle. This makes the printed whistle a redundant detail.

i don't know if this has already been pointed out yet, but the hornby percy chassis is different to the bill/ben and toby chassis, as the later three have a unique chassis to themselves due to them being designed around a clockwork mechanism where the percy one is just a generic pocket rocket chassis

I was lucky enough to win a 1985 Hornby Percy Model around a month ago and now he's paired with my DCC Fitted RWS Hornby Thomas for the future. I hunted for that model for more than 3 years and now I have one. One issue I have is the weight of the model which is 88 grams, That's extremely light and Im more than likely going to put some thin lead weights inside so my model can pull a decent train, and did i mention i plan to one day put a DCC Chip inside of Percy aswell. But i have too many other projects at the moment so that will have to wait. But great video my guy, hope to see you find Thomas next. -KJP

Hey TrainBoy, another fine well done video. I have to ask, if you have ever taken interest in North American HO? While I am set on modelling/taking interest in North American prototype trains, I have found I have taken an interest in the British side of the hobby being in OO gauge, thanks to Thomas the Tank engine as it was a influence as that was my main exposure to what British style trains where growing up before I learned more about British trains outside of TTTE
