i would agree with both with the oliver and terrace model, since both of them had really some great detailing and references from both the classic and cgi series, many people like me should add oliver and terrance to a layout.

You can actually remove Terence's shovel as it's only held in by four pins. You can cut off the front two and make it poseable if you really wanted to. That's what I did with mine!

Firstly amazing models these are. Secondly I'm so jealous simply because in New Zealand there's actually a copyright issue with selling bachmann thomas models in stores which is a real shame as I'd love to get my hands on some of Bachmann's thomas models, mostly the skarloey railway engines. Awesome review as always mate, keep it up. Also interesting idea you could maybe to for model history, how about a real odd ball and do a history on the marklin engine? He's become a bit of a fan favorite among the community.

I know what you mean about the wheels. And the side tank fronts. Having worked on a real 14xx (Ollie's basis) the driving wheels are the same height as me, and the brackets on the tanks were constantly there to bang my head on.

Just ordered an Oliver model, started to regret it a bit because duck might be my favorite and I dont really like the fact that its based on the cgi model. I will probably add some paint to it here and there and I am thinking about changing his face. Maybe recast it and resculpt the mouth to look closed and more like the original. Duck might be my favorite but I Olivers episodes have always stuck with me, your video made me more interested in making him proper :)

I agree on Oliver, but Terrence is so static that I consider him less a model and more a scenery object. When I think of models for a layout, I think of the things that can actually, like, do stuff, wheels roll, joints move, etc. I could excuse the static caterpillars, because it would be hard to make them moving and cheap and good looking, but they could have at least made the blade so that it could articulate and be removed. plastic is pretty flexible, just put it on pins, with attachment point accessories to fill the holes. still fairly cheap, and you can raise and lower it, as well as remove it for scenes where he isn't being a snowplow or bulldozer.

I think bachmanns gordon model is pretty decent. TheUnluckyTug on twitter said that if he had spencers chassis, he'd look a lot better. not sure if anyones done that tho. I really like cranky. He was always one of my favorites as a kid, having the cranky bugs dvd. Bill and Ben I think look pretty good too.
