It's very satisfying watching you rehabilitate cranky runners. Thanks.

I don't care how old we are! When you see this little fellow trundling around you have got to smile. Great video, thank you and Merry Christmas.

hi Bill, great video love Thomas even at my age grew up with him in the 60s, the good thing is these 0-6-0 chassis are staight forward.hope your wife is ok now or on the mend.

Great video. Use the old rods on the layout to make some scrap that's been left after a repair in the shed.

Hi Bill, what a smashing model engine repair video, especially for the Christmas season. I grew up watching Thomas the Tank Engine on Television, VHS & DVD, when I was a young lad & still watched the show to this very day. Thomas helped me get interested in old steam locomotives. Well done on servicing & repairing Thomas, now he can be a really useful engine once again.

Another great repair video Bill you just made one boy’s Christmas a great one

Hi Bill. I’ve had three of these for repair. EVERY one (apart from mechanical issues) had stuck axles. The lubricant used had congealed to adhesive properties. I wrote to Hornby explaining what I had found.

McVities claim to bake a better biscuit but 00Bill does exceedingly good repairs. I wonder if the copious grease help prevent some of the corrosion. Happy Christmas!

That was surprisingly tricky for such a small, simple loco. Best Wishes for Christmas to you and your family.

This has to be one of your best; who wasn’t humming or singing the song once that engine was moving around the layout? A great service video of something I’m sure we all enjoy or even have; I do plus a few others haha. Bill thankyou for a great video; have a great Christmas and NewYear; look forward to the APT and layout update. All best Marc from Leighton Buzzard

Curing tight spots in the running gear can be a nightmare. Patience and dexterity are required in large quantities! Which was your favourite Sodor loco? Mine was Henry, closely followed by Edward. Those McVities wagons suit Thomas very well. Annie & Clarabel will be jealous.

I was wondering how long it'd be until you've done a Thomas repair on the channel! I do a lot of my modelling around Thomas and his friends either making characters that aren't available or too expensive to buy ready to run so this is nice to see. Once you're open up again for repairs (and you're not clammered with other requests as well) I'd like you to have a look at a James and Gordon on our layout at Bressingham as they don't run all too well and I'd like them to be up to scratch with your touch, lovely job as always Bill

WOW, this is great timing as I was just given one of these a few weeks ago and I need to clean it up.... what timing. Another great video and Thomas rides the rails once again.....I hope you and your family have a safe and merry Chrissy. The one I have the front clips on the chassis are broken so the motor just falls away from the body when picked up....

Thanks for the tip about the coupling rods - I have two of these chassis that just don't run well so that could be the problem.

Nice work. I think all that oil may have actually saved it in that damp environment. This particular chassis was the first I thought of when you reviewed the replacement peters spares motors.
@oobill7 ай бұрын
The Peter's Spares motors won't fit these Type 7 motors. The motors aren't usually a problem with them though it's the chassis and drive train that cause the issues on Hornby 0-6-0s of this age.

Nice bit of tweaking Bill! I see that the house is still for sale; too many raucous nights at the Gnomes Legs putting people off?

Yay a stoppy starty!!! 🎉 I'm looking everywhere for a replacement boiler door below a few quid, I started turning one into a Matt black SR e2. Need to find someone that has a 3d printer and can get one printed for me. 🎉

Have a word with southeast finecast. They produce white metal kit and will supply a door as a spare. I have an E2 on my layout fitted with a seuthe 22 smoke unit

Having got the idea from you Bill, I bought a sonic cleaner. But the instructions that came with it are very vague. What kind of solution do you use to clean small parts in the sonic cleaner?
@oobill7 ай бұрын
I use the same Priory metal polish (clock cleaning fluid) I always used. The sonic cleaner just speeds up the process.

Are the rear wheels supposed to have suspension? I was just given an old one of these hornby Thomas trains and it seems as if the rear set of wheels have suspension.
@oobill6 ай бұрын
Some do some don't. The ones with sprung rear axles have traction tyres on the middle wheels and can be troublesome.
@countottovanshanoo8227 ай бұрын
Was that rod/wheel corrosion caused by flux?
@modelrailroader56197 ай бұрын
I also suspect flux or some kind of corrosive substance on someone’s fingers and then it got put away for awhile in a damp environment. Chemistry is a wonderful subject!😉
