This is what you need for the ultimate pack goat feeder if you have horned goats. This feeder design will eliminate the following issues. Waste, one goat dominating the feeder, babies getting in the feeder and eating and sleeping (and pooping), weather getting on feed and clean up. The dimensions are 54 tall by 57 long by 42 wide. The openings are 17 x 17 and the base of the opening is 20 inches. Marc Warnke, "The Goat Guy", packgoats.com.

I like the feeder design Marc. And best of all it looks like something that even an amateur carpenter (me) could construct. My only question was how you put hay in the feeder. Do you just stuff it through the gaps in the feeder ports or does the cover/top lift up on hinges so you can drop hay in from the top? Also, how did you get so much horn growth with your yearling? My two yearlings (actually 18 months) don't have horns nearly that long, even though I'm trying to make sure they are getting good feed and minerals.

yup you just stuff the flakes through. I only feed about a flake per side each feeding morning and evening...if you put too much in they waste it by not eating it all the way down...I'm a waste freak if you can't tell. I'm a bad carpenter as well.

I currently don’t have goats at this time, very interested in Alpine Goats though, I live in North Central Indiana, most goat breeders in the Midwest don’t leave the horns on the goats. #1) Pertaining to packing goats, I’d like to know the pros & cons of leaving horns on. #2) also like to know what you use for a “guardian to protect your herd of goats“? Thank you
