A brand new WW2 fletcher class destroyer with a very inexperienced crew which accidentally fired a Torpedo at USS Iowa which (unbeknownst to them) was at the time was carrying the president on his way to Churchill. I believe their response to where did that Torpedo come from was "it was us". Rumor has it every gun in the formation turned towards the Porter following that response

My sister got fired for not showing up after 3 days, after getting hurt on the job. An she told them she wasn't going to be there do to the injury. They also talked her out of getting workman's comp. I tell ya, nursing homes can be some shady ass places.

Yeah but if it's an accident like they obviously can't give you a unfair punishment can they? Like I can see them giving a harsh punishment if they found that it was on purpose and you had malicious intent but how would it be if it was just a legit accident. As a civilian I'd actually would like to know. Lol

There needs to be a separation between the AI’s ability to detect objects and the ability to retaliate must be double checked by a human. There always needs to be some form of human approval system so that the nearly fully autonomous system doesn’t act completely independent from human control.

There are hundreds of types of really advanced AIs that ha been doing a lot of work in many sectors for decades at this point. Language models like chatgpt are just novelty, though not open ones creates for specific purposes are also very adbanced. I mean you can call bank, have full conversation with an AI without realizing it about what you need before being transferred to the correct worker who has legal capacity to fulfill your needs.

The only time u can not show up to work for 6 months is military but there is laws about that reserves if u deploy for 9 months your civilian job is supposed to hold your position till u get back

Part of me is still skeptical about the whole friendly fire incident, mainly because after it happened we again bombed Yemen's largest missile depot site. Or one of them. So....part of me kind thinks the Houthi's were responsible and we just don't wanna admit it so they don't feel more gassed up to try and be even more aggressive in the region. I could also be totally wrong! But coincidences like that, situations rising right after one another, kinda make me suspicious.
