If you missed the summon and entered Messmer Boss fight by accident. There is another approach to Leda and Hornsent situation. All you need to do is wear the Divine Beast Head and talk to Hornsent Mother at Belurat. Then she will tell you to help her son kill Messmer. Head to the Dark chamber to fight Messmer and you will find Hornsent summon sign inside the to the right. After killing Messmer with the help of Hornsent, go back to Leda and she will change her mind about killing Hornsent, hope that helps.

When up to shadow keep there's site of grace dark chamer entrance a cutscene will start after that messmer wil attack so avoid that next the start door a yellow symbol will ask y button to be pressed to summon hornsent within in messmers arena

U miss out on the leda ansbach fight and the talisman you get from that and helping her instead of hornsent. The bigger thing is you have to make sure to do the Ansbach/ Freyja scroll and letter quest stuff before fighting or ansbach can leave due to leda moving to a new target .

If you aren't a veteran fromsoft player used to these questlines being vague, look up a walkthrough for them, it will be needed. I am used to it, and wouldn't prefer it any other way, maybe just a dialogue screen that saved Npc dialogue would help. But I do not want my hand held. There's really only 2 things that break the questlines, ignoring until last minute, or beating messmer and starting the fire without talking to anyone. If you wanted the ash of war, that is pretty quick to get, and I to missed it the first time.

Yeah so I never gave him the stew and entered messmer’s boss arena through the church district without going through the main castle and I still got his summon sign and dialogue after the fight. Never defended him against leda but will I still get the quest rewards?

I heard that she's supposed to give an infinite supply of Scorpion Stew as long as you don't have any in your inventory. After finishing the DLC she doesn't talk to me at all. Did I mess something up, or does she stop giving out the stew at some point? Help would be appreciated.

Instead of naturally exploring and playing I’ve been going out of my way to complete these dumbass steps, just to accidentally enter the Mesmer fight while trying to find the summon signs near the storehouse front grace (which I’m convinced doesn’t exist), and now I’m locked out of all the side quests and can’t get any of the talismans or anything?

Weird, I missed like half of these steps but I was still able to summon hornsent in the Mesmer bossfight, and he and Leda have new dialogue to show it. In my playthru I never gave Leda a target and she decided to go after Hornsent by herself, but she backed off once we beat Mesmer because she deemed he was no longer a threat to Miquella now that he got his revenge. Which was funny as hell because I then walked 10 feet over to hornsent and he was just screaming "OH YEA THAT WAS AWSOME! YOU KNOW WHAT? IM GONNA KILL MIQUELLA TOO, CUZ FUCK MARIKA'S WHOLE FAMILY! ITS GONNA BE GREAT BRO, YOU GOTTA BE THERE!" lmao

Okay fun fact. I did not do every step correctly and still got the gourmet scorpion stew. I did not get the stew from her the first time and give it to hornsent nor did I summon either hornsent or Leda at the fight, however I was later invaded by hornsent after defeating Messmer.

Have an interesting glitch on this one. Upon beating Messmer (with Hornsent), I got killed off by a snake attack as he was dying but it still counted. When I came back, the room was empty save for the Grace and Hornsent. As soon as I rested, he disappeared (didn't even get to speak to him). Tried resting again and quitting out...nothing. Am I screwed finishing his questline?

Nah so what I did I equied the divine beast hood and talked to his mother at the Belarut tower settlement go through all her dialogue then rest at a sight of grace go back and she will tell you to assist hornset in killing messmer then go back to Leda and go through all her diaglouge she will say she is going to find and kill hornset at the black gate once you done that you will see the summon sign I entered the messmer fight and everything before doing this aswell hope this helps

Just to let ppl know if they did what I did and messed up completely and fought the boss at the ancient temple of rauh. If you do the grandam stuff and get the hornsent to fight with you and win and you messed up your chance to talk to him at messmer’s arena he respawns back at the grace with Leda I exhausted his dialogue and hers I waited and when he left I spawned at the grace ran down stairs and went back up and he invaded me like normal. So you should be ok if you did some steps out of order. I just did this

Early on you can go back and get more stews as long as you use helm, killing her gives you a different stew with same effects just one line missing in item description. Hornsent also has a small bit of convo if you try to give a second stew.

Be aware that if you follow this and help Hornset she won't then go on to target Ansbach and you will be locked out of getting his weapons or armor. If you want both you will need to kill Hornset and then she will target Ansbach next. Follow his questline and then help him and he will give you his bow.

Okay question what happens if I don't summon hornsent to fight Mesmer? Does his questline and the old gran stop and I don't get anything or does it continue? Because instead of Hornsent I had Jolan as a gold summon since apparently I did something to have her as a regular summon instead of as a spirit ash. and Jolan is more useful for me since my hornsent keeps dying faster than me and my mimic can get mesmer in near death before dying.

I missed out on his quest by mistake but I still summoned him in the mesmer boss fight after that he didn't pop again for awhile not even during the united cause fight. While I was trying to grind loot drops from an enemy near the Saint bud church he invaded me I got his armor and weapon. Hopefully this is useful for anybody who also missed out on his quest and want his weapon/armor. Edit: I did beat the dlc by the time I got invaded by him
