Sadly, 1967, Donald Campbell lost his life at Coniston water, trying to break the water speed record, which he did one way. But the rules at the time state, you have to do it in both directions. Thank you for your great videos.

When I look at coniston, I always think of the Real Ale called Bluebird which is brewed by the Coniston Brewing Company in the Black Bull Inn in Coniston, it won numerous Real Ale awards, and is the best beer I have ever tasted.

We parked at the school in summer ,the caretaker lady let us put our toilet waste down the man hole and there is an outside tap for water on the school building she let us use,we walked the mountain fantastic views from the top and they sell a t shirt in the local shop too say you have done it ,also the boat trip round the lake was fab , Great video guys x

Roads are a nightmare aren't they we came from Ambleside direction and sat nav sent us off the A-Road and down a B-Road and I'm not sure how a car got passed at one point - we visited last year and stayed at Pier Cottage campsite, and while we were there watched the Anthony Hopkins movie on Bluebird (found it on KZbin) and was so surreal watching it and seeing Pier Cottage out of the window too. We also visited the Lakeland Motor Museum after staying in Coniston, and there is (or was) a Bluebird exhibition there. Lovely area. Bet the water was freezing Mark - wrong time of year to fall in! Ref cooking in the van - well you have to either cook in or eat out don't you - wouldn't be a holiday otherwise. Hi Lisa and Mark. I'm loving you're channel. Its really inspired to make more of my free time and get out and about more. I went to Kefalonia in June on my own which was a bold move for me. I'm planning a trip to Benidorm in 2024 - hoping to hire a car and do an overnight stay in Zaragoza . I'm in Bournemouth at the moment for 2 nights having a nose round here. August I'm off to Blackpool. Then September looking to go cornwool for a walker weekend. I don't know if you could get the motorhome over to Kefalonia with it being an island but if you ever find yourself there Mark you have to co to Coffee Break in Agostolli and order a club sandwich. You wont be disappointed. I couldn't finish mine. You have even helped me discover the delights of spam. How do Mark and Lisa 🙂 Firstly, can I say thank you for the info on John Ruskin school. What a great idea and cracking spot to base yourself. I have been planning to go to the lakes for a few days .Was going to stop on the lakeside car park at Keswick then find soewhere else-now I have another spot to stay. Well done John Ruskin School using a genius way to both make funds for the school and help us Van owners. I'll be popping a tenner in the box when I stay because its still twice as cheap as any non electric grass pitch in the lakes. I'm glad Mark is okay after his bumble over, I didnt laugh cos I hate to see anyone falling cos so easilly have been much worse. I'd also like to say thank you for the drone footage of the Old man. I'm disabled. I have nerve damage in my spine so id never be able to get up there .I now know what a beautiful area it is thanks to your drone footage. Nicely edited with the music too. Great video. Well done the Lake District,,,I have just done 11 days North Wales, the Welsh dont want MoHo there, I parked just outside Cricieth in a layby at 3.00pm, la local man drove past with his hand on the horn gesturing for me to move on, every carpark with 2mtr hight barriers, no motorhome signs, no camping, no sleeping overnight. I came up from Caernarfon and across the LLanberis pass, they have blocked of laybys with big rocks to stop people parking.

Hi John, Mark here. I’m fine after that embarrassing tumble ! Good job there was water there to soften the fall… We use a DJI Mini 2 and in windy weather a Parrot Bebop 2.

The school will already have public liability insurance paid by the local education authority , BUT if you have a private business or private land the cost of PLI will far exceed any money you could get from campers
